    Skin Irritation?

Did you use a heating pad after surgery? I got a heat rash that took awhile to go away.

    August 2012 Bandsters Progress

Hi, August bandsters. Banded 8/31. Starting weight 213. Surgery day 199lbs. Today 191.6. A bit impatient, but my home scale is 2lbs. heavy based on weighing day of surgery. Goal was to lose 10 lbs. by 9/30. So, almost there, but seems so slow!!! No fill until 10/1. Walking 4-5 times per week for about an hour at for 2.5 miles. Have difficulty getting all the calories (800-1000) and protein in and still following doctor's guidelines of 3 meals/no snacks, 20 minutes for a meal or until satisfied. Am having a glass or two of wine each day which was ok'd by doctor. Do get hungry between meals, however. Any "kind" advice welcome.
  3. Anyone ever eat the chicken after removing the crust? Just wondering about percentage of fat left in the meat.

    August Roll Call

Glad to see you are doing well LiveStrong41...my same-day surgery buddy! Roxygirl, I have two scales, neither of which is very good and six lbs. different. I have only lost about 5lbs. According to them, since surgery on 8/31. I've only been walking for 30 minutes for 2 days, though, I go back for first visit with surgeon on Wed. First fill on 9/28. Frustrating, I know, but hoping it will get better. Have a great day everyone!

    August Roll Call

Good morning, ladymarshall! I didn't have to do any liquid diet prior to surgery. My doctor requires South Beach Diet, Phase 1 for 7-10 days. However, I did it from Aug1-31(surgery day). I lost 14 lbs in that month. The last 5 days, I followed it to a t, except for one glass of nice red wine the night before surgery. CareCredit should not be a problem for you if your credit is good. Nice thing about it is they will let you know within five minutes. You can apply online and will get approval online, which is great. Also, if they don't approve you for full amount, you will then know how much you will need to come up with to make the difference. The one thing is that if you apply and then don't use the card for a year, they cancel it, which I found out three days before surgery! I freaked out and had to reapply! You may also check your bank, if that's an option for you. Good luck with your process and keep in touch!

    August Roll Call

Yes, Richardson, Tx. It was right at $9000, I think. I went thru CareCredit. My insurance said I wasn't fat enough, go figure. At the time I inquired, I was 222lbs. 5'5" with two comorbidities of high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Just got tired of the hassle. I was afraid if I did the appeal thing, I would either chicken out or give up. So, I went the self-pay route. My price includes 1 yr. of fills. True Results also has different options after your year of fills to pay for other fills.

    August Roll Call

Yes, I guess you would say that. I first went to Dr. Fox's office. I was self-pay so didn't have any hoops to jump thru. My surgery was at the Surgical Clinic of Richardson which is True Results and they will be doing my aftercare.
  12. Hi, there. I was banded on 8/31, have had gas issues, but the actual gas pain is getting less and less. I had a hernia repair. I feel like I have a gas bubble in the center of my chest, or I assume that's what it is. I guess it could be the hernia repair??? At any rate, trying to walk in the house. 100+ degrees in Texas and not released to drive or do treadmill yet. Anyone else have this sensation?
  13. Yes, banded 8/31, wondering when swelling will go down.
  14. Thank you so much for explaining so well. I, too, had the lump in my chest. For three days, it was very very uncomfortable and every time I moved I would get very nauseous. I woke up this morning, and, although the feeling of the lump in chest is still there, it hasn't been as bad. The nausea isn't quite as bad. Today is my Day 7. So relieved to feel a little better.

Lap Band Fills at True Results

Hey, AshleyNicole25, I go to the one in Richardson, too. My doctor was Dr. Fox. I was banded on 8/31. I've been happy so far.
  16. Banded 8/31. So nauseous. Have phenergan, but not throwing up so don't want to take that. What other things have you taken for nausea that are acceptable? Just thinking of protein shakes makes me gag.
  17. Thanks, Carolinagirl. I'm doing better with the liquids, but not yet up to recommended amounts. Your reply is very sweet. I appreciate it. Thank you.
  18. Hey, Nikki ! Awesome to hear you are doing so well. Having difficulty staying hydrated and getting protein in. Today I managed 21 grams. I think I was on my way to ding dehydrated yesterday, but have done better today. Everything makes me nauseous. Going to try some tomato soup and applesauce in a bit. Let's keep in touch!
  19. I love this thread! Thanks!
  20. Oh my goodness! I tried to drink protein yesterday. Got about 10 grams, maybe. Today tried a chocolate protein drink...17 grams, got about 12-13 grams down. It makes me so nauseous! No trouble with water or tea or broth or other sugar-free drinks. Guess I'll just keep trying. Going to try the Unjury flavorless in broth or the Unjury chicken soup. Anyone else have this type of nausea?
  21. Thanks, Sojourner. I think you were right about my being dehydrated. Trying so hard to get fluids in. Took me all day to drink about 24 oz of water with 21 g of protein in it, but finally made it. Not sure I can gag any more down tonight. Today is my first thinned cream soup day and am almost afraid to try any. I feel like I have a lump in my esophagus, but liquid is going through just fine. Guess it's the hernia repair and/or gas. Ready for it to go away!
  22. I feel the same ways! Today is day 4 for me. Could only get 10 grams down yesterday and about 14 today. So sweet! Yuk! Makes me so nauseous. Going to try the Unjury chicken soup. Hoping I can make it until I can have yogurt and cottage cheese. I tried the before surgery like you did with no problem.
  23. Lifting you up in prayer. Please let us know.
