New girl, I had my surgery 8/31/12. Try to stay with low carb. 213 before pre-op. surgery day 199. Today 170.8. Have been stuck here for a while

I was wrong! My doctor put me on South Beach, not Atkins. Sorry for the mistake. Just saw my book and realized I gave you wrong info.
-
Yes, my doctor put me on it for 10 days prior to surgery. I actually started one month prior and list 14 lbs. It was a major reason I chose him because I didn't want to do liquid for two weeks pre-op.

Love this idea for salad for lunch. The possibilities are endless!

I'd like to join hely. Info? -
It's so helpful that you posted your height with your posts. I'm almost 5'5" and 62 yrs. old. Doctor's goal for me is 150, mine is 135. I was banded 8/31/12. Starting weight 213. Current weight 170. Oh my....

Well I knew I shouldn't have eaten that onion ring with ketchup. And in the car, too. Nice!

Goodness!!! So much ado about nothing. If you don't like what's on, change the channel.

Writing this as encouragement....surgery 8/31 215 pre-op. Today 170.8. Went shopping at Talbot's today. Haven't shopped in a normal store in 20 years! I was afraid to go in and be disappointed that I couldn't wear a 16. Took two pair of jeans marked Curvy and one standard size in the waiting room and one pair of slacks. I couldn't believe it when I put them on and they were too BIG!!!! I kept looking at the tag thinking it must say 18 and not 16. No, 16. Believe it or not I walked out with size 14!!!! I still can't believe it. I was getting discouraged because I didn't seem to be going down in size. I hear that once you get to a 16 that every ten lbs or so lost is a size down!!!! Hope so!
-
Awesome!!! Good for you! I had mine on 8/31 and have only lost 42 lbs.
-
I haven't tried yet. I'm not quite 4 months out from surgery and a little over 40 lbs down including pre-op. I'm afraid eating a burger with bun or a sandwich will make it slower and lead me down a bad path.

Glad you are back at it!

Great info everyone. Good to hear when there are so many tempting occasions this time of year.

I finally was able to zip mine over the calf. Such a great feeling. I was a 14-16 when I was able to. Different styles make a difference, too. I saw where Macy's had some boots marked wide-calved boots for the interim. You will get there. Good Luck!

Its Time! Headed To Doctors Now!

Hope all went well for you! -
I understand how you are feeling, but you are doing great with your weight loss. I have found that many people really do notice, but either they can't quite figure out what's different about you or they don't want to say anything about your weight at all for fear you may be offended that they noticed or judged you for being overweight in the first place. You are moving in the right direction. Holidays are difficult and can sometimes bring negative emotions. I'm glad you posted so you can get a different perspective from those of us that understand.

Just hope you feel better. The will to exercise is hard to gather. I struggle with it all the time. -
My nut told me the body can't process more than 25g of Protein at a time. Ever hear that?

Drank two virgin Bloody Mary's yesterday and stood on my feet for two days cooking, lots of sodium and water retention. Hoping it goes away. -
Srewed Up Bad On Thanksgiving, Depressed!
Nanu replied to show1980's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can relate. I didn't do well either.. Too much salt and carbs. Very disappointed in myself and go in for a fill on Monday. With all the stories of people not succeeding with the band, my eating yesterday scared me. It wasn't volume, it was what it was and grazing. Bad, bad! -
I've seen that popcorn (healthy) can be bad for banisters due to seeds, but then I've seen that some eat it as a healthy snack. Thoughts?
