I was tested back in 2008 and do have sever sleep apnea. They told me at the study that I stopped breathing 20 times in 2 hours for 30 seconds & up to 1 minute at a time. So I have been using a cpap machine for years and have to admit that it really does help. I have more energy then I ever did before but I am sure hoping that the weight loss from the surgery will cure my sleep apnea along with some other major health problems. Looking good on the outside is just the icing on the cake.

Pre-Op Liquid Diet...
welittle1 replied to tasherie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to dread my pre-op diet because I am a cook for a living and that is going to be the hardest part. I will just have to keep reminding myself of my goal and remember that it will all be worth it in the end. -
Thoughts On Approval Day
welittle1 replied to Harmonic15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Harmonic, Thank you so much for posting. Your post has given me some relief as well for I thought I was the only one that felt this way. From the beginning of your post to the end, I couldn't believe how much you sound like me. I will be 50 this Dec. and am 5 ft tall and 286lbs. I have type 2 diabetes an am insulin dependent, high colesterol, high blood pressure and sever sleep apnea. I want this for my health. Looking great is just going to be the icing on the cake so to speak. It's hard to imagine feeling all these feeling at the same time. My husband is the most wonderful man in the world. He has always been supportive of me and there for me. We met late in life and have been inseparable for 11 yrs now. It's the first time in my life that I have been really happy and I want to be here for many years to come to enjoy it. I think you are very brave to go through this as everyone else here is. It takes a lot of courage for us to make this decision and we should be proud of ourselves. I wish my surgery was that soon. I'm just getting started on my journey. I look forward to hearing more about yours. Please keep us posted. Thanks again for posting. Robin -
Suzanne, I am going for the sleeve. I wouldn't do any other surgery. I appreciate you being here if I have any questions or worries. I will definitely be talking more with you as time goes by. I can't wait to hear how everyone's surgery goes. Please keep us posted. Wishing you all a speedy recovery!!

I agree with you cherrytree15, I have type 2 diabetes and insulin dependent, high blood pressure, high colesterol and sleep apnea. My legs and feet hurt all the time. I just want to be healthy and be here for many more years to enjoy the great life that I have with my husband that I waited so many years to meet. The looking good part is just the icing on the cake. I go to my information seminar March 10th so I am just getting started. I've been reading up on this for about 8 months and wish I could get it done tomorrow. I wish you and everyone here good luck. Looking forward to starting my journey. Suzanne, you do seem to talk as though you are right here telling us your story. It's nice to have people like you here to easy our minds and give us support. Kuddo's to you!!!!

Help, I've Fallen & Can't Get Up!
welittle1 replied to MyVSG2012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Back in 2008, I fell down a flight of basement stairs, 17 total and broke 10 ribs, was in the hospital for two weeks, 3 of those days in icu and then in the rehab hospital for two weeks and to this day am still scared to death of falling in the winter. It is hard when you fall if you are thin or big but I think it's more embarrassing when you are big. I go for my info seminar this coming Saturday and can't wait to get my journey started. I am so ready for this!!! I figure if I can make it through the pain of 10 broken ribs, I can make it through this. Good luck to you and please keep us posted as to how you are doing. -
Fep Blue Cross Blue Shield Out Of Pocket Expenses
welittle1 replied to MiTurner247's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have BC/BS and was wondering the same thing. My policy is that I pay 50% until I have met my deductible then they pay 100%. My deductible is $750 so I'm hoping it will cover most of the cost but I'm sure there will be something else that will be my responsibility. Good luck everyone. -
I have type 2 diabetes and am doing the surgery to get that under control among other things. I am on insulin now and it scares me to death what I will be facing if I don't loose weight, I have tried everything out there and feel this is my last chance. I go to my info seminar the first of February and can't wait to get started. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. Good luck to you!

Diabeties And Pre-Op Surgery
welittle1 replied to welittle1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with you on how hard it is. But you have come to far now to cave in. I wish I was that close to having the surgery. Don't forget where you are headed and it is a good place and what you do now will make it a lot easier in the long run. Please keep me posted on how you are doing, You can be an inspiration to me along my way! :banane58: -
Hi, I have been reading the forums here for about six months, going to my info seminar the first of February. I'm going to ask this question at the seminar but was wondering if anyone here had this issue. I'm an insulin type 2 diabetic and was wondering how you handled it with the pre-op diets. Did your sugars fall really low? Also, I have loose skin already from some weight loss and was wondering if I should expect this to get much worse? I know there will be some loose skin, just wondering how bad it will be. I'm already fairly active, exercising everyday. Thanks for the help and I plan on keeping up with this site through my journey. All of you are very inspirational!

Not Again- I Hit That Wall Hard
welittle1 replied to Lilu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lilu, you can never give up hope because without hope where would we all be? Don't let these hoops win, show them who is boss...I've been reading on this forum for sometime now and am going for my info seminar the first of February. I wasn't sure that this surgery was for me but after reading the post her and hearing how all these AMAZING people care and support each other, I know that if I have any concerns or second thoughts that there are people that will understand how I feel. Listen to the people on here and use their support to help you through this and in the end it will have been so worth all the hoops!!!! -
Diabeties And Pre-Op Surgery
welittle1 replied to welittle1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Misha and thanks for the response, I appreicate it. I was worried that my sugars might fall to low while I'm on the pre-op diet. I'm sure my doctor will recommend the right thing, was just curious about how it affected other diabetics. I hope you are doing well on your pre-op....what have been your biggest challenges so far? Thanks, Robin -
Hi, I have had to have belly button hernia surgery in 2005 and then a hysterectomy in 2007 and last week another belly button hernia surgery. Was just wondering if all that scare tissue would make the sleeve surgery more difficult or make it more difficult to recover? I want to have the sleeve surgery but I am a couple years away from it. I just want to get all the information that I can in the mean time. Thanks everyone for your help.

Thanks Nancy, I am planning on going to one in October. I wish I could get it done sooner but just started a new job and am waiting till I've been there a year so I can get leave easier.

Level of discomfort first few weeks after surgery
welittle1 replied to welittle1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your replies. A few years ago I feel down some basement stairs and broke 10 ribs, most of them having multiple fractures so my husband says that if I can make it through that I should be able to make it through this...I hope it goes as well for me when the time comes as it has for some of you. It's nice to have a place like this to talk with people that are going through the same things. Thanks again to everyone! -
What kind of results do diabetics have with this weight loss procedure? Did it make the diabetes better and if so how soon after the surgery?
-
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high colesterol and my health is the reason I am considering this procedure. I'm glad all of you are doing better, it has to be a wonderful feeling. What made each of you decide on this procedure as apposed to the lap band or bypass?
