  1. I have 5.8cc's in a 10cc band (just had my second fill yesterday). Not sure if I have restriction yet or not, I will have to wait a few days but my doctor seems to believe I will start feeling restriction anywhere from 6 - 7cc's. Everyone is different though so we will see.
  2. I have tried them all and in my personal opinion unjury are the very best. They can only be ordered online at unjury.com Goodluck!!!

    What am I doing wrong?

Nicki - Can you provide me of a sample of your daily menu with a <30g of carb per day regiman? I'm very interested to see what that looks like.
  4. Well my first fill was this morning and I received 2cc's in my 10cc band. It was painless with just a pinch of a needle. I am on liquids for 24 hours. I will admit though, I'm scared to death to eat real food. I have been able to eat anything the past couple weeks (breads have been no problem at all) and my doctor told me to be very careful because now that I have a fill eating will be very different. She told me to stay away from carbs as much as I can because they will likely get stuck and getting stuck scares me. I also gained 5 pounds since my surgery which is devestating to me. My doctor said that the first 6 weeks was a time of healing and not to beat myself up over the 5 pound gain because I still lost 11 pounds but it is very frustrating to me. My toughest time of the day is after 7pm. I seem to want to snack and I know that if I do feel the need to have a snack that it should be protein or produce. Can anyone please let me know what some of your favorite healthy snack are?
  5. The more I read people’s posts the more it sounds like (for a lot of people anyway) that until you get three or four fills the weight doesn’t seem to come off quickly if at all? Is this correct? I’m asking because I was banded on 8/22 and had my first fill on October 4th (2cc’s) and have my second fill next Tuesday, November 1 and in the three weeks since my last fill I don’t appear to be losing much at all (if anything). I am using fitness pal and I track EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth. I am eating all my Protein and few carbs, drinking my Water. I’m right around 900 – 1100 calories per day. I would think I should be dropping at least 2 lbs a week but no such luck. Is this because I haven’t had enough fills yet to have restriction, or does that really have nothing to do with it?
  6. No I am definitely not miscalculating calories. I am as strict as they come with not only my portion sizes but my calories and Protein intake as well. I was banded 9 weeks ago and have lost 21lbs to date. I called my doctor's office yesterday and she told me that I am right on track with my weight loss. She said that the average weight loss is 1 - 2 lbs per week and right now I am above that. I guess I just get anxious and want it all off immediately and I have to realize it is going to take time, just as it did for me to put the weight on. I just didn't know if there was a correlation between fills and weight loss because so many people on here say they didn't "really start seeing the weight fall off" until after 3 or 4 fills. Thank you all for your comments and posts.
  7. Try the greek yogurt with a little granola for the crunch. It is sweet yet it is also protein!!!!!

    can u see your port?

I can't see my port but I can definitely feel it right by my belly button. But I carry my weight in my butt, thighs and legs, I am thin on my upper half so that is why.
  10. Hello everyone. Is it possible to lose inches and not pounds? Unfortunately I did not take any measurements prior to being banded. I feel like my clothes are getting baggier and baggier but I've only lost a couple pounds since my first fill (which was last Monday, 10/3). The scale doesn't seem to be moving as quickly as I'd like (although I am eating my protein and doing all the right things) but yet my clothes feel like they are getting looser and looser. Has anyone else went through this? Is it possible?? Thank you all for any comments in advance
  11. HAHA, I agree. I was with a guy I recently started dating the other night and we were kissing and my throat started making these crazy noises. No, not burping at all, just this noise and I have no idea where it comes from or why but I've had it on occassion since about two weeks post op. Ugh, it's so embarrassing. Does anyone know what it's from??
  12. Fortunately I have not had a problem with ANY foods. I love sushi and just had a few pieces a couple weeks ago. I've only had one fill so maybe eventually I won't be able to eat certain food but for right now I can.
  13. I asked the same question a few weeks ago (prior to my first fill) and received a ton of great feedback but what I think has helped me most is staying busy, and also if you are going to eat, make it protein. Something that will satisfy you. I love to eat a Greek Yogurt with a little bit of granola on top. I will usually eat it around 7:30pm and it holds me over until 10pm which is when I usually hit the hay. It satisfies my craving yet also fills me up. I also think cottage cheese does the trick. Someone told me on here (which has seems to have stuck in my head) that night eating is a bad habit and we are trying to break our bad habits not continue them so it's best to find something else to do but that habit is hard to break and if you feel like you must eat something try your best to make it a healthy choice which is protein and always try to keep your snacks under 180 calories. Hope this helps!!! It's a journey, we all are learning and trying. Success will come we just have to keep at it!!!
  14. You're absolutely right, you can be sure I will be taking my measurements tonight when I get home from work.
  15. Thank you all for your comments. It's nice to know I'm not alone. Much to my suprise I have dropped 5 lbs in the last week after weighing myself this morning. I guess sometimes we will lose the inches before we lose the weight. And your right, either way it is definitely a positive. After losing 21 lbs I have went from an 18 to a 14 pant size and I am beyond estatic. Losing weight makes me want to try even harder each and every day to get to goal. Prior to the band not losing was the frustrating part and the reason I always went off and decided to eat more. Not a good habit at all.

    Beer With The Band

I have to agree with Lollicatt....my doctor also said that the carbonation bubbles stretching your pouch is not true at all. I guess all doctors are different. At any rate, if you want a beer have a beer. I am by no means a heavy drinker but on those weekends where I know I'm going to go out, I just figure in the calories a few light beers into my day.

    Fills

Hi!! I had my surgery on 8/22 and had my first fill on 10/3 (6 weeks after surgery). I was told by my doctor that my stomach had to completely heal before a fill which she feels is 6 weeks. I know all doctors are different. It didn't hurt at all, just a pinch of the needle. I received 2 cc's and I have a 10cc band. I was told that 2 cc's is pretty standard but again, each doctor is different. I go back again in 4 weeks for another fill (if needed). I feel no different right now though I was told it could take a few fills before I feel restirction. My eating habit's haven't changed since my fill but naturally they did after my surgery. I am still continuing to eat very healthy and I stay about about 900 calories. Best of luck to you!!!
  18. I was just curious to see how long did it take for you to start loosing weight consistently after post op? I know some people don't lose any the first 6 weeks, during the healing time. So when did the weight start coming off consistantly, was it after you first fill? Second fill? Thanks!!

    Weight loss

Thank you all for your input, it's interesting to hear everyone's personal experience
  20. I was banded on 8/22 and ohhhhhh can I remember those first couple weeks like they were yesterday. Bandster Hell is indeed the feeling. I remember being upset because I couldn't eat anything but mushies and I almost felt resentful seeing others eat like normal because I couldn't. I even had some times that I cried. The good news is that this will pass and you will start feeling good again. Although I am no doctor, it doesn't sound to me like what you are feeling is restriction, but the stomach healing. It is swallon and sore right now so when you drink large gulps of water it is most likely going to hurt. You should be drinking small sips all day. Take it one day at a time. Best of luck!!!

  22. You are absolutely right NurseShay, it is a bad habit and it's one I would like to change. I know it's the reason I become overweight. It's a nightly struggle for me to get my mind off of grazing and onto something else. I think it's a fantastic idea to come on here and look at posts and respond to posts. It certainly does get you inspired. Thank you for the positive words!! Much love!!
  23. Thank you ladies for all your wonderful tips. Last night after 7 I started to feel like I needed to eat something so I sat there for a few minutes to try to identify weather I was really hungry or if it was just in my head. I only had about 600 calories at this point because I was on liquids yesterday since I had my first fill yesterday morning. Well needless to say I felt like it was real hunger so I had a greek yogurt and that seemed to work well for me. My doctor told me to that she would like me to drink less of the Protein drinks and more of the solid protein but I'm thinking if a Protein Drink is what helps me in the evening and stops me from snacking that that would be best. Oh my ladies, I wish I knew what it felt like to not think of food so much :-(
  24. MMMM, now that's an idea. Where do you get Edamame??
