Hi everyone! Missy, I didnt' realize you were a January bandster. I don't have any special plans other than writing in my journal. Hi Ready! Yah, I've been slipping getting to the gym. I think that people who tell you to "stop losing weight, you're skinny enough! You're going to look sick..." etc, are really just jealous or something- I mean, really, unless you're under 120 lbs or so and really ARE too skinny! You and your doctor know what is good for you, what weight is right for you, what is good for your health! So man oh man I've been struggling with my head! I did so well for so many months avoiding my trigger foods and making changes - and then completely off the deep end. I've gained like 15 lbs back. And I keep telling myself that as of 1/1/13 I'll get back on track- and I do believe I will, but I keep wondering why wait? Am I having that "last meal" syndrome again? I read B-52's posts- I really like them and I think he speaks the truth- and I guess I need more restriction- but it feels like I can eat crap just fine, but solid protein not so much- and my quantities are bigger than they should be- but then his post says he had to rethink how he ate and make food almost an enemy. So I have some head work to do I think. I'm still reading that carb cycling book, and will be doing that in January. Sigh, I knew it wouldn't be easy, and I know myself well enough to know I can get back on the "bandwagon" and be successful- more successful. Just venting to my peeps who understand!!! I miss it when we aren't active, so everyone post!! Nicki

    HEY U GUYS

My kids tell me I fart all the time, they laugh about it...LOL. It does get better though. Do a LOT of walking, and do try gasX strips!

Hi everyone! Meredith, glad to see you! LOL, my DH picked our couches as well, and is also the horder of the family- maybe they're related!! I'm just glad YOU and your family are safe, everything else can be replaced somehow. Dee, good to "see" you! Yep, I've been off the bandwagon for a couple months, and have regained some- but not nearly as much as I would have! On 1/1/13 I'll be back on- I'm actually pretty good at New Year's resolutions, and my YMCA is having a Zumba party that day, so a good kickstart, LOL. Chrissy- how are you doing? Let's start our exercise goals in January. I'm still hitting several days most weeks, but we'll start kicking butt and taking names in January. Well, here's a NSV for you! I went to the Dave Matthews Band concert on Wednesday night, our tickets were general admission floor- meaning standing room only. And I was able to stand and dance (well, as well as I could with the sticky floor from all the spilled drinks!!). My feet hurt, but not nearly as much as they would have 70+ lbs ago! And I was not the fattest there BY FAR! The only bummer is, I wish I had a seat to see how much better I fit into it! LOL. DH had to leave the floor and find a seat (and I had to promise no more standing room only tickets). But it was so much fun, it was my 5th time seeing them, it's such a good show and I"m a HUGE fan. NJ2NC, I'm sure your boss was there, right??? He'll tell you how awesome it was! Okay everyone, have a great day!! Nicki

Hi everyone! Sue Bee- welcome! That's awesome success you've had! I'm sure with the amount of weight you've lost recovering from hip surgery will be so much easier! What have you been doing to be so successful!? Horsegirl- yep, let's just say I have napkins in the car now, LOL. I usually just don't eat in the car, now I remember why! Chrissy- yes, I'll commit with you to exercise! I'm shooting for 4 days a week at least 30 minutes. I have a cut- like I accidentally nicked myself with a knife while washing dishes or something- right on the tip of my middle finger on my left hand, so typing HURTS!! I am so excited, I'm going to see Dave Matthews Band on Wednesday night! It will be my 5th time seeing them in concert, I heart them, LOL. And yes, I'm really too old for this but still don't care!! AND I'll be able to comfortable fit in the seat, unlike my last time seeing them 2 years ago! Yay me! Have a great Monday! Nicki

Hi everyone! Chrissy!! That is GREAT!! Congratulations!! 100 lbs gone! My goal is going to be to be below 200 lbs by my 1 year bandiversary on 1/26. Even with my current weight gain I think I can still do it. Ladybandido- it is such a slippery slope, isn't it! But it's still something we can conquer. Horsegirl, I laughed too after being done, it was just so gross! And since I really haven't been eating fast food in my car I had only the few napkins they'd thrown into the bag. It was all over my sweater and shirt. Super icky! Luckily it was just the clear stuff, ya know? LOL. Only here would I post this!!!! So I haven't been exercising like I was since Thanksgiving. I brought my stuff today and am definitely going to the Y at lunch, since I have to stay really late today- I need that time out of the office! I am reading that carb cycling book and it's really good- and I haven't even gotten to the carb cycling part! He talks about committing to yourself an integrity- keeping promises you make with yourself and how your mind has to rule your body. It's good stuff and speaking to me - helping me get back into my groove. Still have sinus issues going on, not really getting better but not worse. So I just have to power through! Everyone have a great day and just do it! Nicki
  6. Wow your daughter is beautiful, and you look amazing! Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi everyone- Nicole- yes, kids know way more than we think they do! Sorry about the stuck! Horsegirl- yay for being on the edge of Onederland! I was on the edge and sadly have backed away from it. I'll get back there- go ahead and take the plunge so I know it's safe, LOL. NJ2NC- yay on running the whole way! You'll get to doing it outside! That is awesome! Ladybandido- hi there! As for me- I went to KFC and got their chicken strips for lunch on my way home from half a day of work. I thought, these aren't TOO bad. Well, I should KNOW not to eat while driving. I got stuck and pb'd all over myself- it looked like something from Ghostbusters, only not fluorescent green, ha ha. Luckily I had just one strip, and mostly hit the takeout bag. NOT a good idea while driving on the highway! Luckily it wasn't too crowded since it was the middle of the day. Still, won't be doing that again. It made for a kind of icky rest of the day. I'm just not feeling well, I"m going to see if I can get a doc appt today. I need to get a flu shot too. I'm doing all the Christmas Cookies, so we'll see how I do. I have eaten too many of everything lately. Nicki

Hi everyone- NJ2NC- LOL about the alcohol! I'm not a drinker, so have no experience. I think it's great to have that goal to run the whole 5k. I would love to be a runner- I have a plate on my right shin holding things together after an ankle break a long time ago. I've tried running and it kind of hurts, but maybe after losing a bunch of weight I could try again. It is such a good exercise! Kymie- that's a good goal- if I were you I'd up the exercise and the protein, and really really track everything. Chrissy- I was having a protein shake, but was too tight- so that's a good idea to do the hot tea then protein shake later. Hi Ready- good to see you, glad turkey day went well. I do need to do something about the ice cream, but for me it's going to have to be NONE, not something else- I"ll overeat whatever it is. It is truly a trigger food for me. Ladybandido- I hear you on the hibernation thing! I am feeling that as well. And I'm kinda sick and headachy, so just not feeling it. My dd is sick, throwing up- just at night, so I have to be up, LOL. DH is taking her to the doctor today, couldn't get in yesterday, so we'll see what's up. I'm not feeling great and not getting any sleep isn't helping. I stupidly tried a pastry that was in the office, and got stuck- luckily not badly, but threw the rest of that sucker out! Not worth it! Still hanging in, but not doing great, but honestly I'm just surviving until January. I did get the carb cycling book and will be reading it to implement it. I will get back on track, and get my mojo back! Nicki

Rkimom, that is so great! I need to get back on MFP, for sure I'm better when I journal everything! We are glad you like us, LOL. We are a great team, if I do say so myself. I know I need support from people going through what I am going through. Nicole- Whoo hoo! We do that candy thing at Christmas, too. Oh, the traditions that revolve around food! Chrissy- I wonder, I"m so much tighter in the morning too- I've started not eating breakfast, just sipping hot tea- but then I'm starving by lunch time, so that's not really working- more tweaks to make! Kymie- yep, it's not new and shiny anymore, right? But we have to be in it for the long haul. I definitely need to refocus too. It's a process. Ladybandido- I too haven't been this weight in a long time, I'm sure some of it's mental for me. I put on my winter jacket that's over 10 years old that I haven't been able to wear for like 8 years, and it fits like it used to! I got that carb cycling book they're posting on the food area of this place- check out Missy's thread- carb cycling, an experiment gone right. I'm not going to start until January, but it looks doable! So still trucking along Check in everyone! I need you! Nicki

Hi all- I did well on Thanksgiving, didn't eat a lot, ate slowly and really chewed and didn't get stuck. Had a little pie at dessert, not a lot (we do an Iron Chef competition with the little kids, they each make a pudding pie and we "judge" them- they love it!). Have done well with leftovers- had mashed potatoes and gravy with a little turkey, yummy! Still not kicked the ice cream habit though- really struggling with giving that up- it's a true addiction! Didn't do any shopping at all, maybe will do some Cyber Monday stuff, we'll see Today is another day. I hardly slept at all last night, but still have my exercise stuff here- to guilt myself into working out! I won't be able to work out at work on Wednesday or Thursday, so I'll have to figure something else out at home, but that's okay. Hope everyone is doing well- I wish Meredith would check in, worried about her, haven't heard since the storm and she's right on the Jersey Shore... Nicki

Hi everyone! Sorry to be missing yesterday, with a short week work was crazy! Promises to be crazy today too. We're having our T-day potluck, and I brought homemade dinner rolls. Not tempted to eat them, even though they're awesome, because they'd be a for-sure stuck . I'll have some turkey and gravy, veggies, we'll see what else, but small amounts. Last night I made rolls for our dinner Thursday, and tonight I'll make the pumpkin pie (which I hate, LOL). Exercise is down this week, I am fighting off a major cold, my neck is all swollen (glands) and my nose is killing me! Can't really breathe either, it's super fun. Chrissy- I can't believe you're so close to having lost 100 lbs! That is awesome! And congratulations on the faster 5k time. I need to sign up for one to do, that would be fun. Rkimom, I'm glad you're doing better nutrient wise! I worry sometimes because I get in such a rut eating the same things. I do take all my vitamins faithfully. What is your exercise routine> Everyone check in, how are we all doing? I think I'm going to go for a walk after dinner tomorrow, something I've avoided for most of my life, LOL. Nicki

    Who Has A 14Cc Band?

I have a 14 cc band and a little over 11 cc's in it. My doc said that she's never seen it happen that a 14 cc band goes over 13 cc's without feeling restriction. I feel like I am close to green, but not quite. At this point my doc only does .2 cc's at a time, where before it was pretty aggressive fills. It's so different for each of us- everyone's body is different. Nicki

    Another Silly Success

LOL, that is awesome! I remember after I'd lost about 60 lbs something fell on the floor in the car and I leaned over and could pick it up without struggling! It's the small things! Congratulations! Nicki

Hi everyone! Nicole- okay, I’m dropping the ice cream, it’s really killing me weight wise, and mentally too. I’ve been doing so well, no way in h-e-double hockey sticks I’m going to gain more back! Sounds like Cookies are your kryptonite. So we’re human, so we’ll stumble- but we will still be successful! And we have all stuck together, haven’t we? And we are coming up on our year bandiversary!!! I guess I’m the “unofficial” leader- I just really appreciate everyone’s posts and know how much I need it to be successful myself, so it’s really selfish on my part J Meredith! Where are you?? How are you??? I’m sure posting here is not a priority after the storm but I’m thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers! Rkimom- we are glad to have you, insight is a wonderful thing! I had really logged faithfully, but since going on my ice cream jag that has fallen by the wayside- no way I want to log a zillion calories of crap! That is really interesting that Vitamin deficiencies caused so many issues? Do you think that was from being banded and eating differently? Chrissy- wow, almost 100 lbs! It’s super that your doc listens to you. How was your 5k?? You’re right about having a lot to be thankful for! Ladybandidto- good for you getting a fill. No kidding about the slippery slope- and I slid down a complete mountain!!! That’s my plan too, eat what I want, small portions and SMALL bites and lots of chewing, LOL. NC2NJ- Happy Monday! Good for you for shaving off more time on your 5k. Why wait til you can run it all? But that's a great goal for sure! Otaknam- I hope you get an unfill today and are able to eat! That’s scary, make sure you don’t get dehydrated!!! Maybe you could have some mashed potatoes and gravy- kind of a bummer to make all the meal then not get to eat any! Amica-yah, that’s kind of close, but I know I would go for it rather than be too lose. And CONGRATULATIONS! On 174.5!! That is so awesome!!! Val Ann- CONGRATULATIONS to you too!! That is so great!!! We are having a T-day potluck Wednesday- I am bringing my super yummy homemade rolls, of which I will have NONE. I think turkey will be iffy for me too, luckily I like dark meat! So there’s a thread in the fitness area about this carb cycling. I bought the book, we’ll see. It should come later this week. It sounds good- alternating low and high carb days, having one cheat day but you can only cheat at Breakfast or lunch and only go over a max 1000 calories. No carbs in the PM. I’m going to read through it and get some ideas to jumpstart my loss again. Of course, not eating through tubs of ice cream will probably help too. I’m sick, have a cold and my nose is completely stuffed up and my glands are all swollen. Ick. Oh well, I can power through. Everyone have a great day, Nicki

    Has Anyone Experienced This?

IT's better than saying, "about time you did something!" LOL. I started at 284, too, but you're 4 inches taller - lucky!
  16. JustDoIt130

    January Surgery Bandsters Group

Sigh, well I think we all know what happened at the doctor- up 11 lbs. Yep. The ice cream. Big shocker, I know, LOL. She did give me a little fill, I"m at around 11.25 cc's in my 14 cc band. The PA said this was not unusual, and that I need to not have ice cream in the house. She's right, and I've known she was right-and Nicole too- from the beginning but just didn't have my head in the game and, you know, just wanted to eat a lot of ice cream! So lesson learned, and now if I want ice cream I have to go out and eat it at an ice cream place, not go to the grocery store and buy it to eat the whole carton at home!! Good news is that I"m still doing well and still on the exercise wagon. And ready to commit to the band again. So back to logging, being honest, getting back on the bandwagon. That is not to say I'm going to not eat a Christmas cookie or Thanksgiving pie, but I won't eat like I have been eating, and not a ton of slider foods! NJ2NC- I do think you should go to the appointment, still good to follow up even if you decide you don't need a fill. I haven't had the band tighten/loosen like that, but I do think it happens- stress, ttotm, etc. And yay on your loss! Otaknam- how are you?? It's not good to not even keep down water! Let us know!! rkimom- are you new? If so, glad to have you? If not, please excuse my faulty memory- too much sugar lately, LOL. I think that's what we all need to strive for, eating what we want (except no ice cream for me, it's an extreme trigger food), just in moderation. Like "thin" people do. Nicole- yah, it's the sugar that makes me crave more sugar, then more and more until here I am with 11 pounds more on me. But that's life and now I'll get those off with a lot more of their friends!!! I'm back to logging, for sure, I'm not as successful without it. Amica- glad you got some fill out! Hope the reflux resides. Good for your loss, but you don't want to lose cause you can't keep anything down! Well, I am glad I kept my appointment even though I knew it would be "bad." Oh well, I'm human, I knew I couldn't be eating like I was without gaining, and now I can go back. Like my PA said, the band is still there and will still work if I do my part. Nicki

    How Much Was Your

I have a 14 cc band, 5 cc's in at surgery then 1 cc at a time- I don't think that 4 cc's is too much for a first fill, and your surgeon knows best.

    January Surgery Bandsters Group

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Believe it or not, the PA's last name is House, LOL. Anyways, we'll see how much damage I've done. Still not doing well with ice cream at all, still eating around the band....gotta get back in the game....BUT I am still doing well with exercising. I went to go to the Y yesterday and had forgotten my shoes, so when I got home yesterday I did a 40 minute Firm video- LOTS of squats and fanny lifter. My legs are feeling it today. And I have my shoes for the Y today! Hope all is well with all of you... Nicki

    Biotin Question

I think that's a pretty standard warning. I have been taking 1000 mcg of biotin since surger (January 2012), with no issues...but I'm not a doctor and I see mine every month. I also am not one with allergy issues.

I am at 205, 79 lbs since January. Still doing good on exercising, not good on food. I've stopped tracking, so I am going to restart doing that today, it really holds me accountable. I've already tracked breakfast! When I logged in, MFP said "justdoit130 has not logged in for 2 weeks. She may need some encouragement." True dat! Some things in the works job wise that may help me feel better about things. Just hanging in there! Nicki I hate to see us so far down the page, LOL.

That was lovely, Chrissy. We didn't get anything (I'm in Raleigh), my parents near the NC/SC border just got rain. Not sure where NJ2NC is in the state. Some issues at the NC/VA beaches..... Y'all check in!

I guess my update was lost this morning. Ladybandido- I too do so much better when I'm off the sugar. It's easier said than done, for sure. I just do need to get back to strictly eating. I appreciate your kind words, and you all are so inspirational to me- I know I can post my struggles and get support and care, that's why I'm here! Nicole- yay for the NSV! I saw a lady at the Y wearing gorgeous brown boots up to her knees and I thought, "I could wear those too!" Such a good feeling. I have some reading to do about my diet. I have all these books that I never read about diet, whatever, because I knew I wasn't committed enough to actually make a change in my diet. Now that I've had some success I think I can get my butt back in gear and get going again and some of this advice will make an impact. Sugar really is bad for you, ya know? Nicki
  25. JustDoIt130

    Tmi Question!!

It is probably from moisture trapped in the folds. Can cause rashes/infections that have icky odors. Dry thoroughly and use a powder- baby powder does fine- just to make sure you're really dry there. Probably nothing to do with the band.
