Hi everyone- tomorrow is WID! Hope for a pound down or so. Did zumba yesterday and feel good, it's such a good fun sweaty workout! Got my hair cut today- well, got bangs cut today and will do the whole cut tomorrow. There's a salon next door to my work that I took a chance on. She did my bangs, and they look good, and we scheduled a cut for tomorrow to kind of blend in the sides. I'm excited, as she does free bang trims Still logging, still on track, still trucking ahead! Everyone, have a great day! Nicki

Hi everyone- LadyB- a bikini!! You go, girl! And I hear you on the buffets- I've gone to a couple, mostly chinese ones, the kids love chinese food, and you are so right, it's a total waste of $$. I too am astounded at how much I ate before. Now it's so much less!!! Logging is definitely a learned skill, LOL, but it's easy once you're in the habit. I LOVE pilates, I have dvd's, never been to a class. But you'll tone and like you say, lose inches, and really ultimately you'll lose weight. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint, and you're on the home stretch with only 15 lbs to go! Weight loss is bound to slow down, so don't freak out, you're doing everything right! Sue- chicken burgers sound yummy! Do you just buy ground chicken? I need to try that. And I'm glad you're back to golf, etc, and soon will be killing it on the courts! Was another on track day yesterday, with another bite of ice cream- soon it will be gone and I won't have to deal with it at all, LOL. DD is still an issue, shes' supposed to move out by this Sunday and it doesnt' look like she's even started packing her total pigsty of a room. DH is harassing me, and I told him to just back the heck off, we gave her a deadline and I'll put her stuff out on the street if she doesnt' get it done. He's totally adding to the stress, as usual. I cant' wait for this week to be over and her to be out- she's left everything til the last minute and counted on friends she KNOWS she can't count on, so now it's all frantic. Shes' had 6 weeks to do this, so I'm past caring. She had a choice, but now she's upset I'm insisting she stick with her choice. Oh well, time to grow up and stop being so disrespectful. She hasn't made ANY efforts at all these past 6 weeks, so out she goes, her choice. Lady B, never apologize for being chatty, just take a look at my posts!! LOL. And the best part of this is I"m not doing any emotional eating. yay me! Nicki
  3. I am over a year and a half out and I remember that on day 8 I thought to myself, "I'm good! Yay!" Before that, I struggled with clear liquids- so so so hungry- I went to full liquids and was much better. I myself like my Protein drinks- I use Unjury- I either have chocolate splendor with almond milk, or vanilla with 1 Tbsp sugar free pistachio pudding and 1 c almond milk, or vanilla Protein powder with 1 c trop 50 oj and a little ice. It's all a matter of taste, some (muscle milk light!!) I could not STAND, LOL. It's a journey, I'm finding, I'm having all the same emotions around food I used to have, and sometimes it's hard. I would absolutely recommend three things (besides the obvious one of following all your doctor's orders!!): 1. Log all your food. I use My Fitness Pal, but there are others too. Or on paper- who cares, just log and keep track- calories and especially protein 2. Get into some sort of regular exercise- small and simple counts! 3. Be a regular poster here- for the support of all of us who have been where you are and can help and/or sympathize! Good luck to you, it really was a great decision! Nicki

Hi there! Sue!! Size 10! I was that size as a senior in HS, LOL- and that was after starving myself over the summer, almost literally. Good for you! Kymie- sorry for such a short answer the other day. I'm all for cleanses and such, but they're a short term fix- like Sue said, logging will really open your eyes. LadyB- is the hcg diet the one with shots? Are you logging? That might help you too. Whatever works for those last stubborn lbs, for sure! As for me, I had a run in with ice cream last night and came out victorious! Both kids wanted it for dessert, we had it in the freezer, so I took it out and I had 1 bite of it and that was it! I accounted for the calories, and moved on. Yay! Doing well, saw 226 lbs on the scale earlier, so hopefully that will stick this week, or better. Everyone have a great day! Nicki

Try the 5 day pouch test maybe, just Google it. I've heard a lot of good things about it helping get back on track.

Hi everyone! I totally thought I'd posted yesterday, LOL. I read, but just didnt' post! Rkimom- I am on a 6 month (at least) no ice cream challenge. It's my weakness, and I can't have just a little. I go crazy. So I'm just not having any, and logging everything on MFP. It's hard with changes going on, but I'm starting to see that there are ALWAYS changes going on! So I have to adjust ME. Make sure you make time for yourself- even at 11, your youngest can make a sandwich or nuke some mac and cheese if it means a night to yourself LadyB-I've ben wondering about Nicole too, hope she's okay with the moving and divorce and all she was going through. And weight wise- maybe you are at goal, or maybe your body is just pausing a minute, ya know? Keep on doing things right and you'll tone and tighten and- who knows- maybe lose more weight. At any rate, you'll be healthy! I had a good sweaty zumba class this morning, and have a couple nagging chores out of the way- cleaned the top of my fridge, threw pretty much everythign out, but found some cookie cutters I had been missing, LOL, of all places! DH does things like that, I never know where I'll find things. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I may just go take a nap, I woke up around 3 am and didn't go back to sleep til like 6, so I'm kinda tired. Have a great day! Nicki

Hi all, weigh in day, down to 227.5, so a loss of 3 lbs. Slowly but surely, but really, it's not that slow considering I've lost like 8 lbs in 3 weeks. It's just right! I'll take it, anyways. Struggling a little with emotional eating- rather, wanting to emotionally eat, luckily not actually doing it, LOL. Logging on MFP really really helps me. Check in, peoples!! Have a great day! Nicki
  8. I applaud you, I'm back on track after almost a year- regained 25 lbs, but have lost about 7 so far this month after re-committing. Slider foods- namely, for me, ice cream, are not my friend. I use My Fitness Pal on my android phone, it's great, I log everything I eat. It has a scanning feature so you can just scan the bar code of a food, if it's not already in their extensive database. You can also put in your recipes, etc, and keep track of home made foods. It really is what keeps me on track. You can also log your exercise, etc. Good luck! Nicki

Hi there! I was so busy I totally forgot to log in. Tomorrow is my WID, and I hope for a lb loss or so. I've been totally logging, under calories (myfitnesspal always says, "you're eating too few calories!"). Did zumba last night, my butt is killing me, there were TONS of squats! I also pulled out our Wii Fit on Monday night, we've had it for years but I never did it. It's okay, it measured my bmi, etc, and it focuses a lot on balance, etc. Then I did just a few minutes of weight lifting. I need to incorporate that more into my routine. Sue, yeppers, ice cream is a flab builder! But it's really great that you've in essence stayed the same weight wise, even with not being able to do a lot of exercise for so long! And I'm glad you got a bike ride in and didn't fall off getting on or off, LOL. Where is everyone else? Otaknam? Ladybandito? Chrissy? Meredith hasn't been on in a long time, others...I know it's hard, and definitely life goes in cycles, doesn't it. Everyone, lurking or posting, have a great day! Nicki

I'm here, here, here! Busy busy weekend. Busy day at work! Sue- DH has a particular breed in mind- can't remember right off, but we want a puppy with this breed, as it's very protective of the family and it's better if you have them from the beginning. When I remember, I'll post what it is I would love a black lab/retriever mix, I'll bet it's sweet as can be! Hanging in there, eating right and logging it all. Hope to see a pound or two on Thursday. Did Zumba on Saturday. Today when i get home, DH and the kids will be at a martial arts thing, so I think I'm going to do some weights or something, I feel like I need to get more weight lifting in. Everyone have a good day!! Nicki

Hi there- yes, Lady, it stinks! And of course, today I step on the scale and see 229.5. So I know it's just "environmental," not me, LOL. It's a marathon, not a sprint. I TOTALLY wanted some ice cream last night but didn't do it, even though we have a bunch left. I will be successful! I'm really tired, too- been getting plenty of sleep, not sure why. Probably if I stepped up the exercise I'd get more energy.... This weekend we're going to a watermelon seed spitting contest- yes, I live in the south, LOL. We are considering also getting a dog- some sort of big dog DH wants. Sigh. We'll see. I have made it perfectly clear that I'm not at all going to get up earlier than I already do to walk it, etc. Everyone hang in there, it's Friday! LOL Nicki

Hi everyone! Chrissy, a rest day is a good thing now and then. And 4 lbs in 2 weeks is great! I had no movement on the scale today, which is a bummer but I'm dealing with it (and not by eating!). I have been on plan, so I know it will come. I'm going to look back on my weight loss I recorded last year and I'm pretty sure I'll see a pattern of the same weight for a couple weeks, then a nice drop. I lost 5 lbs last week, and I know I've been doing the right things. It will come! I just want to be back down to 212 and then less than that, LOL. It takes time, time, time. And I wasted a bunch, but that's water under the bridge. I know next week I will show a loss!! Plus, I think it's ttotm- (warning, tmi alert) I have an IUD so I don't usually get aunt flo, but still have the bloating, cravings, etc, which sucks. But I know it's another reason I'm not showing a loss, and it also sets me up for a bigger loss next week. Well, we're all hanging in, that's the important thing! Nicki

Hi there! Ladybandito- good for you on your weigh in! Your trip sounds fun. It's funny what you say about taking longer to look presentable- my hair has gotten totally weird lately- curly where it didn't used to be, and just takes FOREVER to get looking decent!! Oh well. Sue- but look at getting back to work as getting back to normal! Yay progress, right? Trying to look at the bright side . Chrissy, I too think of you when I get up and realize you've gotten 2 hours under your belt already! What time do you go to bed??? LOL It will be a good day today! I go home early as DH has a doctor's appointment and I have to get the kids off the bus. Have a bunch of little chores to accomplish, and maybe even a weight workout in, we'll see. I wonder if netflix has workouts that are streaming? I'll have to check. Got breakfast logged and will have an on plan day today! Everyone have a great day! Nicki

checking in for the day! Sue, the travel agent gig sounds fun! I wish I could convince DH to go on a cruise. My parents are taking a Mediterranian cruise in September for 3 weeks. Sounds so fun! Chrissy- yah, 4 am then school might be hard, but that is cool about exercise helping ADD- it kind of makes sense. And exercise is good for lots of things besides weight loss. Endorphins rock! I have Zumba today, speaking of exercise. I really like going, it's such a good workout and the kids go with me to the Y- they even help them with their homework, which I love! OP food all planned and I'm logging away, right Chrissy! Everyone have a great day and Just Do It!!! Nicki

Hi everyone! Chrissy, it's definitely helping me! And since we're MFP "friends" I see you're logging- that is what keeps me on track! That, and no ice cream. Sue- glad you got to the pool! I love water aerobics and swimming, but my hair doesn't. Ladybandito, where you at, girl? LOL Having another on track day, logging, etc. Next thing to do is up the exercise. My job is exhausting (more mentally, cause I sit all day), and it's hard to get my rear in gear- and as much as I admire you, Chrissy, there is no way in heck I can get up at 4 am! But maybe 5, we'll have to see...gotta change stuff if you want results, right? Everyone have a great day! Nicki

    It's Been A Long Road

Hi Nursejen, I too am "starting over" but much closer to goal! I started at 284, got down to 212 in 10 months, then completely fell "off the wagon," eating slider foods and eating too much even though it made me feel terrible (physically and mentally). I gained back 24 lbs. That was a bummer to see- of course, I had stopped weighing myself too. As of August 1, I started over, and my first wid I had lost 5.5 lbs! I know a lot of it is Water weight, but it was still nice to see, LOL. I log everything into MyFitnessPal, it totally keeps me on track. And I portion control and eat by the rules, with Protein first and small bites, no drinking while eating and no soda at all (that is one rule I did keep, well two, I didnt' and don't drink with my meals and I gave up a 2+ liter a day soda habit before I was banded). The band is always here to help, but we definitely have to do our part! As CarolinaGirl says, every day we have is a new start! Good luck! Nicki

Hi all! I just got done mowing the lawn for an hour in 90 degrees! I skipped zumba to do it, but I think I burned about the same amount of calories . Logged Breakfast, healthy lunch and dinner planned. I like this feeling of being back on track. When I weighed myself this morning I saw 229.5, so I do think I'll be down in my next "decade" by this coming Thursday for sure. Onward and downward, LOL! Soon to hit 212 (where I was last October) and surpass that. For sure this Christmas I am not going to make the treats that were my downfall, either, in addition to no ice cream. I was really the only one who ate some of the stuff, so not good, lol, and no one will miss it! I am thankful that the band is still here and working with me if I do my part. I hope everyone has a great Saturday, I'll see you tomorrow! Nicki

Hi all- Sue, you go girl in your platforms! Glad it's going well, I'm sure being so much lighter has helped your recovery! CHrissy, I saw on MFP that you'd logged! Good for you Ladybandito- it did feel good to see the numbers go down, even though it's a lot of Water weight again, but I'll take it, LOL. I'll talk to everyone tomorrow, I love logging in here and seeing all of you (figuratively speaking, of course), and we're still successful. Yay us! Nicki

Hi Everyone! Chrissy- yay, good for you. 4 am, that is dedicated! And good for you for logging, that is what it's all about for me! Sue- yep, do what's best for me, for sure. How is recovery going? Ladybandito- good for you being on track! It's just a journey, yes? I weighed in today, down a lot! down from 236 to 230.5. Doing it right pays off! Of course, it was depressing seeing my old ticker at 212.5, but oh well, I'll be back there soon! I'm looking to be down in the next decade by next week! Everyone have a wonderful day! Nicki

It's the Lady Bandito and Nicki show, LOL It's been a week today since I restarted, and I'm feeling good! I weigh in tomorrow and I think I'll be down 3+ lbs. Going in the right direction. Did zumba yesterday, feeling good about that. Tracking everything in myfitnesspal and staying really well on track, and getting my water in. I have a splitting headache from lack of sleep- just didn't sleep well last night. Oh well, this too shall pass! Everyone, chime in! Nicki

Time flies! I meant to check in on Sunday and yesterday, but work was craaaaaazy yesterday, and I forgot Sunday, LOL. Doing really well. Back on track with MFP, eating right and NO ICE CREAM!!! I weigh on Thursday, we'll see what the scale says. I want to bust out of the stinkin 230's and get into the next decade, then down to 211 which is where I stopped last time. Had a big bust up with DH about the lap band, he's super unsupportive (of pretty much everything, not just this), so I just had to put my foot down. So I'm not perfect, show me someone who is. Ladybandito- thanks! I've been working on increasing the protein too. I like tracking what I eat so I can see the protein grams, then I choose a snack with protein to up it. I also need to get back to taking my vitamins. That is something I'll start doing! I'm feeling good, doing it right! I'm glad y'all are here, even if it's quiet- but if you're lurking, I could use the company! Nicki

Hi Sue- yes, it does add up! But I'm plugging along- on day 3, yay! So far so good. I'm eating (well, drinking ) breakfast, eating a good protein lunch and dinner, and some healthy, logged snacks. So good for me, LOL. I'm down a couple lbs already- i am updating my ticker, even though I don't want to ;(, but it is what it is and I did it to myself. I knew this wouldn't be easy, but I still hoped, LOL. Hope you get to the pool! That is such good exercise for rehabbing (and in general). I went to Zumba this morning and walked a bit on the track before as I was early. So all in all a good day so far! Nicki

Thanks Lady Bandito! I survived no ice cream last night. I had popcorn and a small pudding pack thing, slightly frozen. It's what I had when I was actively losing, so I should stick with that, right? Or one of those Fiber One bars, they're good. I weighed myself last night- I have gained back 25 lbs. Man, that hurts to state. but an all ice cream all the time diet is not conducive to losing weight, is it? So now with tracking and getting back to exercising I know I'll head back down the scale and be successful. So it just goes to show that even with a band it's work, but honestly I was eating for emotional reasons, so just have to cut that out. Like it's that easy, right, but I'm working on it. That is the nice thing about the band, it's here and will work if I work it! Nicki

Hey all, it's August 1, I've logged breakfast in MFP, threw out the bad snax I had at work, and have a healthy lunch and snax packed for today! There is still ice cream in the house, but I will avoid. Going to a back to school picnic tonight, I will eat potato salad (as it's what is "safe" for me from the probable picnic choices, LOL). I plan on checking in once a day here to keep myself honest! Nicki
