    Not Getting Enough Protein

I too love the unjury. I don't want to drink my calories, but being tighter in the morning it's a great way to get breakfast in with a good amount of protein. If you want to try the unjury, they have a sampler pack with 2 chocolate, 2 vanilla, 2 strawberry, 2 unflavored and 2 chicken broth- good to try before you buy, for sure!!

Kymie, not gaining any weight is a success!! I know what you mean, I told my husband that it was hard not to eat my way through the weekend like I used to. I log EVERYTHING on my fitness pal on my phone, it keeps me accountable. Good for you on the exercise- that's what I need to add in. It's a process- someone just posted something the other day- this is a 3 step process: 1. Surgery and healing 2. Getting filled to restriction 3. Losing weight!!! So you're spot on.

Hi everyone, happy Monday! I can read on the weekends, but its harder to post! My first fill is 2 weeks from today, and I can't wait. I've been logging and working hard, but need to add in my elliptical. I'm feeling good about myself, though!!!

    Banded 1/26

I'm a bandster! I'm 3 days post-op. I have to say, I'm tired of broth, LOL. No particular gas pain. No pain meds today, doing good. Will be back to work on Monday.

Congrats, Nicole- and 38 lbs in 6 weeks!! That is awesome!!!!!! I too hate the all liquids- chicken broth makes me...ick....LOL
  7. I just was "sick." I had my surgery on a Thursday, was back to work on Monday- I have a very sedentary job, though. You legally don't have to tell them, I don't think- your time off is yours to use as you want. Good luck!!!!

Erin, you are in bandster hell! Just because you can eat like you did before the surgery doesn't mean you should. This is the white knuckle part. You will be hungry, you may gain weight, you will be frustrated. Insist on a fill- I doubt he'll say no since you're so hungry. I would definitely journal all you eat- I use My Fitness Pal on my phone, it's a free app. You should start getting into the habit of exercising, tracking your calories and Protein, etc. This is a lifestyle change, not a magic bullet- I know you know that, but now it's time to put your money where your mouth is. You will lose weight, you have success, but now is the hard part until you reach the green zone. Please realize, I am talking to myself as much as you here, I'm hungry after a couple hours, I'm also in bandster hell- but I expected it, I'm working through it and I will succeed- and so will you!!!!!

    Oysters And Calms?? Oh My???

Sigh, I too have heard the shrimp horror stories, which makes me cry, LOL. Shrimp is my favorite thing in the whole wide world. I will try it, chew well, and pray I'm one of the few who can still eat them

    Be My Valentine Challenge

I'm down .5 today to 267. Yay. Better than nothing My bad habit- is wanting something sweet after dinner. I'm doing yogurt and a pudding cup at the end of the day- still within calories, but still a habit I'm not happy with.

Nicole, i ordered the protein from unjury.com. they have a sample pack that I tried first, with 2 packs each of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, chicken broth and unflavored. That way you don't waste your money if you don't like it on a whole thing! And they have a good return policy. I don't think they come in ready made, though. I just keep my immersion blender plugged in by the sink, lol. The My Fitness Pal does have a scanner for things that aren't in their database! But I haven't found anything not in it yet. And congratulations on the pants victory!! Bert, that is totally what I have been asking myself too! Am I just bored? Am I really hungry, am I tired, etc. And I too know what my weaknesses are. I make sure I end my day with something sweet, like a pudding, and then I feel like I haven't given anything up. Freesia, welcome! I am almost 3 weeks post op- 3 weeks tomorrow. I agree, why didn't I do this sooner- but better now than never, right?? LOL Today was my weigh in day, only lost .5 lb, but after a few minutes of disappointment and bummed-outedness, I decided that slow and steady wins the race, my body is getting used to this and healing, and it's way better than being .5 lbs heavier, right??? My first fill isn't for a couple more weeks, so just keep on trucking. I survived Valentines day- for whatever crazy reason, DH scheduled a sedation dental procedure for yesterday and had 2 teeth pulled! How romantic! But he did buy me flowers.

    I'm Sick And Tired Of...

I actually got a little notebook that I am writing down all the things that I want as NSV (non-scale victores)- as an example fit into the booth easily at Red Robin don't have to have a seatbelt extender etc, and as they happen I'm going to check them off!!! And I put scale victories in there too, LOL. second half of the little notebook is where I chart my weekly weight I "keep," no matter what it is, up or down, on Wednesday morning These are some good ones to add to my list!!!

I Had My 1St Real Nsv Today !

    Affordable Vitamins

I use the centrum chewable ones, orange, not the yummiest, but with a drink of h2o after, tolerable. I think I'm going to switch to the flinstone ones, though, LOL. I also take sublingual b12 (2-4 tabs a day), and calcium and vitamin d, oh and biotin.

Nicole- have you tried the unjury protein? Their chocolate splendor really does taste like chocolate milk to me. I use an immersion blender in the morning, takes 2 seconds and no lumps or grit. I ordered the trial pack- 2 chocolate, 2 vanilla, 2 strawberry, 2 unflavored and 2 chicken broth. I like the chocolate alone, like the vanilla in smoothies, the chicken broth tastes just like lipton to me (yay), haven't tried the strawberry or unflavored yet, but I hear that the unflavored really is unflavored and can just amp up the protein. Remember, if you take in more than about 25 g protein, the body can't process it and it's just wasted. Spread it out. If you have a protein shake in the morning, some greek yogurt and some fish or chicken, you probably won't have any issues with getting your protein in. And protein is important for muscle health, to keep your hair!! and for weight loss. And I love my immersion blender for these shakes, and I also ordered one of those containers with the shaker ball thingies in them off Amazon. Got good reviews, and I figured that might be good for on the go. I am getting hungry, but powering through. I know right now it's my willpower, and I've lasted this long on diets before- I just know with this one as I get properly filled it will be easy to eat within my calorie range and it will stay off, so a little white knuckling at the beginning is worth it, and I expected it. It's funny the mental games I play- with valentines candy all around, I remind myself that I just had surgery to lose weight, and if that doesn't mean I'm serious about it this time, I don't know what is! I did have a homemade brownie last night, but I logged it and still didn't go over my calories. Also, on the logging thing, I log on my phone on my "my fitness pal ". It's awesome, I log all my food and so far I haven't had to put a single thing in. I even searched berkley and jensen (BJ's store brand) chicken and it had the exact thing. I went to panera bread and looked up some menu items on it before I went to plan, and it had everything. So far I really like it. it also keeps track of your nutrients, so tracking protein is easy, and it tracks my weight loss progress. And it's free, LOL! It's easy cause my phone is always with me, and it keeps me honest and on track. K, is that a long enough post??? LOL

LOL, my 6 year old told me that I needed a Brazilian Butt lift. I too am hungry at about 2 hours- my fill is the first week in March I think. I am really trying to watch what I eat and white knuckle it- and logging everything.

How Do You Get Your Protein In?

Remember, your body can only process like 20-25 g Protein at a time, so doing a lot at once isn't going to help. I drink an unjury chocolate splendor shake in the morning- it does taste like chocolate milk to me- they have a sample pack with 2 chocolate, 2 vanilla, 2 strawberry, 2 unflavored and 2 chicken broth you can buy at unjury.com. I tried a bunch, this is my fave. I also eat greek yogurt, it has a lot of protein, and eat canned chicken or tuna (mix with a little no-fat mayo if you need it moist). I don't have any problems getting in my protein with these tips. I also keep track with my fitness pal, a free app on my android phone (not sure about iPhone). It lets me log all my food and exercise, and keeps track of my nutrients. Easy to track protein that way!

    It's Working!

Hi Shay- I just thought I'd pop in here, as I have a suggestion for all of us- that has really helped me thru the hard part while we find our sweet spots. It's My Fitness Pal, a free app on my phone (I have an android). I track all my food and exercise, and it calculates the calories. You give it the number of calories you're shooting for, and it subtracts what you eat to show you what you have left, if that makes sense. It calculates the nutrients you get too, so I can track the Protein really easily. It has an extensive "library" of foods already in the database, I haven't had to look up anything. And if I'm considering a food, I can look it up in advance to see the calories- good for making good choices when eating out. I really rely on this to keep me in line, and it's working- I'm down about 18 lbs. And like I said, during bandster hell while I'm doing more dieting than feeling restriction, it's good to keep me going in the right direction. And MAGS!!! Congratulations!!! Isn't it so exciting to kiss a decade goodbye forever!!!!!!

    Newbie Not Doing Well!

I think you're doing great, it's a process. If this were easy, we wouldn't need WLS! Also, you are probably on the lower BMI side, and might lose more slowly than someone who started out at a much higher weight. Don't worry about the doctor, you know you aren't cheating.

    Good Protein Tricks Anyone?

prudence, that is cute!!! My band is named Magic, LOL

    Good Protein Tricks Anyone?

I do an unjury Protein Shake in the morning- with skim milk it's 28 g Protein. Remember, your body can't really process more than 25-30 g protein at a time, so any more at a time is a waste. I also eat greek yogurt, it has a lot of protein, the 0% fat with cherry is like 120 calories. Also canned chicken or tuna. With eating these things I've had no problem getting in at least 60 g protein, and it's usually more. Where do you get the wonderslim protein? That sounds good for a chocolate fix!!

    First Two Weeks...

I'm 2 weeks today! hooray! I've been eating mushies, mashed potatoes and canned chicken. I had 2 lunch appointments, luckily both were at Panera and I had their creamy tomato soup- a bowl is 380 calories. Do any of you use My Fitness Pal? I have it on my phone and I log everything. It has all the foods I've tried to find, I haven't had to put anything in manually. It tracks calories and all the nutrients- which I really like to track the protein especially. I also track my weight, and when I get started exercising I'll track that too. Also, right now with really not much restriction I find it hard to eat slowly. I'm doing fine with the calories because I'm tracking, but I know that as I get fills it's important to slow down and chew! Any suggestions???

First Fill For January 2012 Bandsters

Did it hurt? I'm just nervous about that, LOL. He told me that my port was located below the incision, so I guess that's pretty standard.
