chew chew chew, and don't drink while you eat...it's a learning process!
-
I'm down 2 lbs to 254 this week! So I've exceeded my goal of 255! And I'm at 30 lbs lost from my pre-op "official" weight of 284. And I'm down 37 lbs from my all time (recorded) high of 291. Yay!!!
-
Hi everyone, down 2 lbs for the week, so officially lost 30 lbs since my pre-op diet! Yay!! Jayeedee- that is crazy, it's your body, you should totally know how many cc's your band holds and what is currently in it!! I would absolutely call the actual Doctor and tell him what happened. That is ridiculous! 11 lbs is a LOT, and a good rate of weight loss! Rockonhan, at my first fill appt they had me write down my average carbs and protein- apparently I'll do that at every appt, and when I told her how many carbs I was eating she was surprised- I told her I wasn't counting carbs, I was counting calories and making sure I was getting in all my protein. It's working for me, so she said to keep it up- but I think that shaking it up is a good thing, so maybe counting carbs for awhile will jump start you! though you're doing good, and isn't any weight loss awesome? Erica- good luck on your appointment, hope you get a fill- it's nice to be back on track, isn't it. I have a lunch out today, so need to go look at their menu and plan, plan, plan!! I really love my fitness pal, it really makes me pay attention. Have a great day!!

If the doc said it was okay to try again, I think you should- and just keep a good look out- it really is so so convenient!
-
NJ2NC- is there anything else you can do? I am on the Mirena IUD, which pretty much gives me no tom or very light tom- or maybe a no estrogen pill? Unfortunately, for taming of the beast purposes, it would have to be trial and error as to what works for you. Good luck, but I would probably try to switch. I had no weight gain when I went on the Mirena, but not sure if it's appropriate to use it to regulate your cycle. I hope to have at least another pound gone by tomorrow, WID. Hopefully 2, that will put me at an even 30 lbs lost!! I am having the darndest trouble not drinking while eating. Right now it's okay, but I know once I"m at restriction it'll be necessary. And maybe I wouldn't be so hungry between meals if I didn't! Something to work on. Consistency is the key for me, for sure!!! have a great day everyone!!!

Day by Day- I think it's weight x .3- so my current weight is 256 times .3= 76.8 g protein I should have in a day. Also, Kymie, congrats on the collar bones!!!! LOL

My dr said as long as I'm not a habitual user, advil or ibuprofen should be fine, but he too recommends prilosec or something like that to counteract the stomach issue. Well, my fat girl devil beat up my thinner angel over the weekend. Not quite a TKO, though. I did give in to some birthday cake both on Saturday and on Sunday. The positive- I logged it all, was accountable, and still under calories for both days. So, it's still waaaaay better than blb (before lap band)- I would have had tons of cake and just kept eating my way through it! Mags- I like what B-52 said in a different thread about really taking several weeks to adjust to a fill, especially when you're close to or it get you to restriction- that's when all the things start being important- chewing, watching what you eat as far as breads, rice, etc. It takes time to switch things from how - and how much- we used to eat!

I know if you do autoship with them its a little cheaper for unjury- and they may have cheaper shipping. I tried the stuff from Walmart, and really didn't like it, but Ymmv. Just save your receipt, i was able to take it back even though I'd opened it and taken 2 scoops.
-
I like unjury so far. I drink a chocolate splendor mixed with skim milk or vanilla mixed with trop 50 orange juice and some ice, reminds me of an orange juilus. I think there is a limit to how much Protein our bodies can process at a time, like 30 g or so....
-
Oops, sent too soon, dang phone! Followed by a family dinner at a great restaurant. No potential pitfalls today, LOL. Wish me luck!!!
-
Erica, what a bummer, but well on the way again. It is hard to not lift, isn't it. Don't forget your pain meds!!! And that silly pound you are up is just surgery bloating. Everyone have a great day- dd's birthday party is today, followed by a family

Otaknam, I too heard at least 60 g protein, preferably 80, and 1 shake a day okay. I do mine in the morning on the way in to work, easy to drink on the way in. It will come!! You're doing it, it will come. Kymie, yay on it bring paid for!!! Nice!!! I sometimes feel this is the justdoit thread! But I want you all to know how much your support means to me.

Under The Gown Jitters!

Yay, I've lost 2 more lbs down to 256. i saw 255.5 flicker for a moment, LOL I was heavy most of my young life, then during the summer between my junior and senior year in high school I lost a lot of weight by going on the practically anorexic diet. I got a LOT of attention, I was pretty hot. Then I went to college, met my first husband, got married and had 2 kids, and packed on the weight. Did different diets, exercised like crazy but ate to make up for it. Then got divorced, lost some weight, met my second and final DH, lost some more weight, then had a baby, gained weight, broke my ankle, gained weight, had another baby, gained weight- and decided it was time to just get this done with. DH had suggested lap band after seeing some of his co-workers do it. So I went to my PCP (who had actually recommended bypass a few years before but I didn't want to re-route my innards). Did the 6 month diet, got approved and was banded 1/26/12. So I have a total of 4 kids, a (mostly) supportive husband, and more energy than I've had in a very long while!

My doctor says to measure out my food, 3 oz Protein and some veggies, and not eat for longer than 30 minutes, then be done even if I'm not done eating. Measure out your food, maybe you need a fill, rededicate yourself to your health and you'll get those pounds off!!

Drinking From A Straw Or Not
JustDoIt130 replied to myjourneyagain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My Dr said that to each his own, but the air you can suck in can cause gas or bloating. I don't have any issues myself. Ymmv. -
Grrrr, I'm at a job fair sitting at my booth, and everyone is eating pastries!! Must go find water to Sip!! This is definitely head hunger....
-
I start my day with a Protein shake, just to start with a good amount of protein and its easy to drink on my way into work. I haven't had any issues with getting all my protein in doing that. The rest is solid protein. As to a fill- I think the green zone is where you're satisfied with the smaller amount of food and don't feel hungry for 3-4 hours, so see what the Dr says. Ok girls, I need your help!!! My hair is falling out like crazy! And breaking off!! It is awful! I have long hair, like down to my bra strap, and it is thick, but seriously, handfuls every morning! Luckily its thick! No one else has noticed, at work or at home, but I'm worried! Especially since I do get all my protein in. I am taking Biotin 2x a day, it says I can take it up to 5x a day, so I'm going to up that, but its just awful!!! Any suggestions??? I lost 2 lbs last week, so total of 28 down so far. I have been counting my starting weight as the weight I was the day I started the pre-op diet,, which was 284, but did find where I recorded my highest- which was 291. So I'm feeling good about my progress! Now if I could just stop the hair loss I'd be happy!!!!

I have the centrum chewable vitamins. Not delicious by a long shot, but doable. I also heard some people do 2 children's flinstones vitamins. Hope this helps. I think chewable is good, because sometimes the ones you swallow are too huge. The gummy ones- you'd have to be careful to chew them too so they don't get stuck

Not Losing Weight : /
JustDoIt130 replied to bandedgorJESS's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I use an app called My Fitness Pal on my smartphone- I log everything, including my exercise- it definitely keeps me honest! It seems like you're only getting 1 cc at a time? See if they'd do more at a time, at least once, just to get a bit more in there. I have a 14 cc band, 5 was put in during surgery and then 1 cc at my first fill. If I hadn't already had 5 cc's in there, I would have been bummed at the small amount. I know it's better to not blast through the green zone to the red, but neither do you really want to creep up to it eventually, LOL. -
Hi there- horsegirl, I didn't find it to hurt at all, and I'm a big baby. It was easy. The PA felt for the port, and a minute later said, "I'm all done!" I knew I had saline in during surgery, but didn't know how much. It turns out I had 5 cc's in at surgery (14 cc band), and they do fills 1 cc at a time after- though I'm going to try to convince them to do 2 cc's in April. If not, oh well. I'm just looking to get to my sweet spot quickly!! LOL Kymie at Weapon of Mass Destruction (literally!!) I'm glad you get your second fill finally! My band's name is Magic, because even though I know it's not a magic fix, it's magic to me!!!! Erica- how did your surgery go???? I hope quick and easy!! Where is everyone! I need support, people!! Magstoyou, NC2NJ. Daybydaybaby- and EVERYONE ELSE!! I need YOU!!! LOL Post post post!!!

You're so close! You can do it!! And put the flaming bat to the CPAP machine up on YouTube. I'll totally watch it LOL!!!

Gastric Sleeve Vs Lap Band
JustDoIt130 replied to MummyMeagan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did know, I told him what I was thinking (getting the band) but was open to his opinion- he told me he has good success with the band IF I do my part. I told him I was in it to win it, LOL. But you do have to be willing to follow the rules, and really change mentally, imho. I'm about 7 weeks out, and really happy- but last night my "head hunger" was strong. I didn't give in, and that's a victory in my opinion. I too wanted something I could control- as in tighten if needed, remove if I absolutely had to.
