Hi all- had another 1 cc fill- that should put me at 9 cc's total in a 14 cc band. I had a terrible day yesterday- LOTS, way too much, cake and ice cream. SO this morning I got up at 5:30 and worked out, and of course on liquids today. I asked the NP there if they aspirate a little Fluid to see if they're hitting the port, and she said yes. I had told her that I'm really not feeling that much restriction, if any, and she said if this fill doesn't help then she'll pull all the fluid out to see where I really am- if I really do have 9 cc's in my band. So, hopefully this one makes some difference, but it does show me how good my doctor is - that they're really listening to me, which makes me happy. She said with a 14 cc band they see most people get restriction between 8-10 cc's but that everyone is different. I feel sick from eating so much on Thursday and then yesterday. This fill and liquids today should help!!

I Can See The "end" In Sight...that Leads To A New Beginning...
JustDoIt130 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I had my last appointment late in December, had my bloodwork done (I hate needles) and it was all good (high cholesterol / low vit D, but that's nothing new), and my dr sent over the last paperwork. So it will be submitted to the insurance and hopefully approved quickly. My big fear- I have BCBS of TX through American Airlines- and they are actually self-insuring, BCBS just administers it- and with the bankruptcy I'm hoping they approve it! I have not heard anything about them changing anything, but I want it approved and done quickly before they change their minds. They're definitely in "take away" mode with their employees. So just wanted to "tell" someone, as I am keeping this just between my husband, my mom and me, no one irl to commiserate with! Glad you guys are here -

Swollen 2 Swanky-Newbie Here!!
JustDoIt130 replied to swollen2swanky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Kati- you'll love this site, lots of great advice and support here. I started my journey at 284, surgery on 1/26, now currently at 237.5. It's a process, not a magic bullet, so be prepared to STILL use willpower and make good choices. It has been really good, a great process and journey. -
I do know that one day won't undo everything- thank goodness, LOL- I just was kind of bummed that I could still eat so much with 8 ccs in my band already. I will tell the NP everything on monday, hope for a 1 cc fill!!!!!
-
Yes, I'm a huge Scarlett fan, LOL. I have started over, for sure, but I had just hoped that I I'd have more restriction. I know I will always have to make good choices and use willpower, I'm just hoping for more from the band soon.

Ugh, you guys, help.....I ate way too much last night, and here's my problem- I did eat actually much less that I would have pre-band, for sure. BUT- I COULD eat it, if you know what I mean. I had 1 1/2 onion rings, 2 bites of ravioli, a big spinach salad with a little dressing, a 7 oz steak, oscar style (hollandaise, asparagus and crab meat), prob 1/2 to 2/3 c mashed potatoes and a very small piece of cake. I am feeling it today- as well as last night- but I had no feeling of "stuck" or anything like that. I had hoped with like 8 cc's in my 14 cc band that I'd feel SOME sort of restriction! And I guess I do, really, a little bit, but I sure hope that the NP at the doctor's gives me a full cc for my fill, because I'm feeling like this is a whole heck of a lot due to my own willpower and not due to the band. I'm okay with that to a point, but I had the surgery because my willpower only takes me so far for so long and then I totally revert back to old ways. Sigh. I need some encouragement.

Erica, whoo hoo! Plateau buster!!! Good for you. I too am hoping for at least closer to the green zone with my fill on Monday. N2- I hear you on wanting it off faster- but I tell myself, "Self, this is not a magic solution. It took time to get fat, it will take time to get UN-fat- and also, Self, exactly how much weight were you losing BEFORE???" LOL Denise- it's true that exercise is important. I know there are people who lose weight and aren't exercising, but I also believe it's good for more than just weight loss. It really does make me feel better, more upbeat and goal oriented, better cardiovascular health, etc. Sooo, that's why I chose justdoit as a user name, LOL. That is really nice of you to give your friend your clothes! And I don't think this is all or nothing, a piece of chocolate or a small bag of chips aren't going to undo anything, even skinny people eat that once in awhile! Like you say, it's way better than the whole giant bag in one sitting! Wish me luck with my dinner out tonight! I'm going to look at the last meal I had there that I logged, and have that again, LOL.

Lap-Band Revision June 2012
JustDoIt130 replied to julieg40's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
julie, I am a huge fan of the unjury brand protein powder as well. I use the chocolate splendor with a little ice (tastes like thick chocolate milk), or a scoop of the vanilla mixed with 1 c trop 50 orange juice and frozen strawberries and 1/2 c ice (though brandi's idea of milk and strawberries sounds yummy too!!). I use an immersion blender to mix it up really well, because one of the things i hated was the grittiness. If you go to unjury.com you can buy the sample pack- 2 envelopes each of chocolate splendor, vanilla, strawberry, unflavored and chicken broth (tastes like Lipton, imo). You do have to be careful about heating protein- if you go over 130 degrees it will clump- but not sure about the protein in carnation instant breakfast. I love carnation instant breakfast, but it doesn't have a lot of protein compared..... -
Hi everyone! Mags! Hi!!!! Twoterland it is Glad you're not feeling pain now! I think it's funny (funny interesting, not funny haha)- you see all the time that someone gets filled, it's too tight and they get a slight unfill and it's good, then they go get another fill and it's okay. I think as we lose weight our bands become looser naturally, so it's good to adjust both ways. Hope that made any kind of sense, LOL. N2animals- Hi there to you too!! Post no matter what you're feeling, we're all here to help each other. As far as exercise, I am TRYING to get up in the morning at 5:30 to do it, but so far it hasn't happened. So, I usually do it first thing when I get home after work. My kids at home are 4, 7 and 18 (well, 3 and 17 now, they'll turn 4 and 18 on Saturday!)- anyways, they're big enough to understand that this is important to do, and to just chillax until I'm done. Luckily for me, DH usually cooks, so he's making dinner while I work out. If he doesn't, then I just do something really quick after I work out. On rare occasions I workout after dinner, but I don't love doing that because I have to wait for some sort of digestion to occur, LOL. You've lost 26 lbs, that is awesome! Think about it, how much would you have lost before, right? Just do what you can, I think Nicole's advice about weight lifting is good too...but do post, we're all in this together. Denise- welcome welcome! You're doing awesome! I definitely need to hit the Goodwill, I have one pair of pants that kind of fit, the others just look stupid, LOL. How do you feel your strength training has helped your weight loss? I think that's really the next thing I need to get cracking on. Kymie- Hi there!! Nicole- with your weight lifting testimonial, I will definitely start adding that in. I haven't been on a plateau, but only- "only"- losing 1 lb a week. I'm not complaining about that, mind you, but would love for more. I have no ideas about how to post videos- not at all technologically savvy! LOL. Tonight is the kid's birthday dinner at Angus Barn. I'm so looking forward to it! I'll have a small steak, some asparagus, and probably a bite or two of mashed potatoes. And a small, very small piece of cake (my fave in the world!). It's all planned. As I kind of mentioned, I was going to get up at 5:30 today to get my workout in, but it just didn't happen. So, today is my rest day. Everyone have a great day!!

You're such a lucky duck! And of course there's more to do- goals to set, accomplishments to....accomplish- they just don't need to be weight loss related! Run a 5k, build a table, learn how to do stained glass, learn Chinese....a few that come to mind....

Chrissy, I'm like you, hungry hungry within about 3 hours or so- but I still hold off on eating. Nicole- it's not liquid fiber, it's a powder that dissolves in liquid. I have also been eating a lot of beans, either refried beans or bush's seasoned recipe black beans- that probably helps too. Meredith- awesome about the boots! That is so great!!! You will now have to buy several pairs, LOL Kymie- you're almost into another century!! I look at each 10 lbs as a different decade, LOL. You're doing awesome! My pants are all getting saggy- I look like a rapper, LOL. There are 2 pairs I just can't wear anymore. I will have to hit the Goodwill too! I have not quite made 50 lbs- 46.5 so far, hope for 50 lbs by Kymie's birthday!! I "only" lost 1 lb this week- isn't it so dumb, to be a little disappointed about "only" a pound? But I'm over it, I'm happy with my 1 lb loss for last week and this week! At least it's going in the right direction. And who knows what next week will bring? I have my next fill on Monday, I really hope I get 1 cc again, I am so hungry!!

I have a very sedentary job, had surgery Thursday and was back to work on Monday. A bit tired bit it really wasn't bad.
-
I went to Walmart and got their brand of stir-in unflavored fiber and add 2 tsp to my morning protein shake. I also bought a couple kinds of fiber one 90 calorie brownies. It's helped a bit. I could probably add the unflavored fiber in a drink at night too, to help.

Where Do You Find Your Motivation?
JustDoIt130 replied to TracieR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oooh, pintrest- good idea! I don't have the hang of it all yet, but am on there. I have a white board that I keep by my elliptical that I record all of my exercise on- time, miles, calories burned. It's also motivating to me to enter all my exercise into My Fitness Pal and see the calories subtracted out. I also find a lot of motivation here! -
checking in, 238.5, down 1.5 lbs.

Sounds like a compliment,LOL- I agree, she's probably jealous- whatever, not your problem!!!! You go, girl!!!!

Hi MrsShep! How did swimming go? I think at 3 months out you're okay as far as healed incisions go. 46 lbs is awesome! Hi Amica- yay for the nsv's! And the great thing is this is for the long haul, so if you have a day or two that aren't as good, you can get back to working the band. I'll bet you can make your goal of 50 lbs by 5/25. Good elliptical workout yesterday, zumba for tonight at the Y. WID is tomorrow, it's not looking like it 'll be a huge loss, even though I'm doing the same stuff I've been doing, but any loss is a good loss- since it's not going up! My parents will be here for the kid's b-day and we almost always go to the Angus Barn (Prez Obama went there when he was just in NC- it's an AWESOME steakhouse!!)- but I can still make good choices. Everyone have a great day! PS- call out still! Mags, where are you? Horsegirl, any updates? Kymie? All y'all??

Concern About Recovery Time. What Is Your Advice?
JustDoIt130 replied to OldMomOf3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wait til June- that will be too much I think with the dance competition and party, etc, plus kids. And you will definitely be ready in June- just keep posting here, we'll keep you enthused and excited- you won't back out!!! Is there any happy medium for mid June? You can still start losing weight, practicing eating smaller and more slowly. I had my surgery on a Thursday and was back to a very sedentary job on Monday. I too have kids, didn't feel too bad, back to full strength at day 8 or so.... -
I really like the Unjury brand protein- order online at unjury.com. I love the chocolate splendor- tastes like chocolate milk. I also use the vanilla, mix with oj and some strawberries. They also have unflavored you can mix in anything and a chicken broth that actually tastes a lot like Lipton.

Hi everyone! Sorry to be MIA on the weekend. Did good, had a great zumba class on Saturday, burned lots of calories. Have a zillion things to do this week- 2 of my kids birthdays are on Saturday- my oldest daughter turns 18 and my youngest son turns 4. Should be fun! Looks like I'm on track to lose a smidge this week, we'll see. I only did 5 days of workouts last week instead of 6 because my legs were killing me yesterday from zumba, LOL. I'm getting over the totally eating on the weekend thing- and as an added bonus, my house is much cleaner!
