Carolina Girl Now Banded
JustDoIt130 replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do lovenox shots while pregnant- 2 a day in my belly! You'll do fine, you get really used to it. Congratulations on being banded, it's worth it, though the first few days may be rough! -
Drinking My Last Coke
JustDoIt130 replied to lupediva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was such a diet Pepsi/diet Dr pepper addict- like, give me a 2 liter and a straw, LOL. I gave it up cold turkey before surgery (January 2012). The headaches were awful, but I survived. I had 1 teeny SIP a few weeks ago, and it made me soooooooo uncomfortable!! Not worth it and didn't even taste good anymore. The 54 lbs I've lost so far are way worth giving up soda!!!! -
Hi Chrissy- I have had success with upping my calories (to like 1300-1500) one or two days when I'm stuck- I don't do it consecutive days, and like one or two days every 2 weeks or so....but it has seemed to help. Also, maybe doing some intervals of wogging (walk/jog, LOL) while walking to up the intensity? I just recently upped the resistance on my elliptical for 30 minutes of the 40 minutes I work out. Remember, this really is temporary! I have also noticed as I record my weight in a book each week that my body seems to like losing very little for a couple weeks then a bigger loss. You hang in there!!!! It will come off!! It will!! And maybe a small fill will help too. You can do it!!

Hi everyone! Chrissy, I'm definitely going to look for a sears outlet near me! Thanks for the tip! WID is today, I'm at 228! Down 3 lbs! Officially LESS than 100 lbs to lose!!! Yay, I'm so happy!

I have a really sedentary job, but I was banded on a Thursday, work on the Monday. I was tired, for sure, but it wasn't too bad. My turning point was day 8, all of a sudden I felt almost like "normal" again! Good luck!
-
I am definitely on the pay it forward bandwagon!!!

Congrats, Tammy. Sometimes that's my issue- not being regular- have you tried adding some soluble fiber? I just use the Wal-Mart brand and mix the 2 tsp in my morning shake. It's helped quite a bit! I also add in a 90 calorie fiber 1 brownie as my dessert at night on most nights.

Hi everyone- got another fill today, this time from the surgeon. He did a good job, LOL (you always wonder, I'd hate for a surgeon to draw my blood!). But he wouldn't tell me how much he was putting in because "not to be a smart mouth, but people get hung up on how much is in your band, not actual restriction." Whatever. He said I'd have around 9 cc's in- but that's what I had last month at last fill. So it's over 9 cc's but he did say it wasn't as much as last time, which was 1 cc. I asked if he was doing a "fake fill" and he said no, LOL. By their scale I have lost 50 lbs- by my scale at home it's 55. But for some reason they don't want me to come in to weigh myself first thing in the morning, stark nakkie, after peeing to get an accurate weight. They said how good I was doing and to keep it up. I just want more restriction and to not feel so hungry so soon after eating! I told them that I do feel very hungry between breakfast/lunch and lunch/dinner, but I just DON'T eat. So anyways, hopefully this will help get me to green. I do feel it a little more than usually just drinking (but can drink fine, no problems). Anyway, that's my fill for today!

Two Years, 70 Pounds...and Pregnant!! :)
JustDoIt130 replied to maggs79's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is awesome! Congratulations! -
Meredith- he doesn't know i had the surgery- I can't remember the last time I saw him what I weighed. Probably around the same as now- it's been like 6 years ago! I do think you might be at restriction- but of course, it will still fluctuate. I think that as we lose weight our bands lose restriction- you lose weight everywhere! So I totally think it could be restriction- I doubt it's still any sort of swelling from the fill. I can't WAIT to feel that- I feel it a little, but still not full and satisfied! It's still a heck of a lot of willpower!!!

Hey, where is Nicole- calling you out, girl!!! LOL
-
Hi everyone! Becky- welcome! Chrissy- awesome that your home scale says 60 lbs lost!!! Otaknam, I still don't have any problems yet eating whatever. I read someone else's comments about eating out- that they choose what won't get stuck, not what is "diet friendly" because they know they won't eat enough of it to matter, and they don't want to get stuck, LOL Meredith- I am glad we have such a supportive place! I know I really appreciate everyone's successes and struggles- only my immediate family and DH know I've been banded, no one at work or other friends. So I count on all y'all! That was really nice of you to recommend the forum to that guy, it is nice to pay it forward! As for me, good weekend, some awesome zumba on Saturday, followed by a visit to the library. I painted a TON of trim on Saturday and Sunday. DD's high school graduation is this coming Saturday, so I want the house clean- I'll be seeing my ex-husband in a couple days- haven't seen him in years! Also, get another fill tomorrow, hopefully I'll be more in my sweet spot. I think I"m close. Also, I saw 229.5 on the scale this morning- hopefully I'll be entering my next decade! Everyone have a fabulous day!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYMIE!!!! I met my goal!! Everyone set a goal for my birthday- by July 4 my goal is to have lost 60 lbs!
-
Oh, and Meredith- I have the same problem with one of the "girls" being about a cup size smaller. I bought these silicone inserts called full cup-tuous off amazon, that I put in the one side to fill that side out. Works great!!!!

Good attitude, Chrissy. How is the restriction going? Are you good?

Highly Recommended

Jim- If I can, I just scan the food itself (well, really the package I guess, LOL). I have had good luck. As far as the actual nutrients- I really only pay attention to the Protein and the carbs (and not even the carbs really). I don't even look at the fat, just try to hit the protein number and call it good. I just know everything else will be good. I also do my own calories, I go by what my nutritionist says- I eat less than 1200 calories a day, with an occasional higher calorie day (every 2-4 weeks). So I still keep track on myfitnesspal but don't worry about what their number is. Hope this makes some sense! But I really have found they're pretty accurate. edited for clarity! -
I suck breath mints all day!

Hi everyone- Chrissy, that's such a drag! Can you say something to them? Are they just being catty because you're thinner now??? Meredith- I can't wait to be at the point where I don't want my LB card anymore. I'm not there yet, but soon! I lost .5 lbs last week- which was okay after such a huge drop last week. So I was thinking of my journey and I had 154 lbs to lose. I have lost 53 lbs so far- which is just over 1/3 of the way done. SO- I'm done with my beginning phase, now I'm in the middle phase, and the last 51 lbs will be my final phase. That means I have lost 33% of my excess weight- and I had my goal to lose more than my doc did, so their numbers say I've lost a bigger % (if that makes sense). So, feeling good about things right now. I had a rest day from exercise yesterday- that muscle conditioning class kicked my a$$ on Monday- I did zumba on Tuesday, and yesterday I had dd's 1st grade end of year program and a doctor appointment for dh. And of course, while I was gone, all heck breaks loose at work, so lots of clean up today! I do plan on doing my elliptical when I get home. Food is all OP (on plan) and I'm hanging in! Post updates everyone! I appreciate everyone's posts a lot.

LOL Chrissy, I was wearing a lot of potato sack stuff too!!! I forgot to post this, but I ordered some new bras (the girls have lost weight too, bummer), and also a swim suit. We'll see how it looks! Also, how's everyone doing with their goals for Kymie's birthday! I have .5 lbs to go. If I might suggest another goal date- my birthday is July 4 (that will be about a month from Kymie's b-day). I had set an initial goal to lose 50 lbs by my birthday, but I've already surpassed that! So my birthday goal is to have lost 60 lbs by my birthday on July 4th. Who's with me????? Set your goal!!!

Checking in at 231.5, .5 below my goal! Yay!!! Can't wait for the next challenge, thank you so much Larry for doing these!!!

Help With "stuck Incidents"
JustDoIt130 replied to lassie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm eating chicken right now (banded 1/26/12), mixed with Bush's seasoned black beans. I eat it for lunch a LOT! I was just stuck on dry chicken last week, also had my first stuck episode on a deviled egg! I can't do dry chicken, and I found out I need to actually CHEW my food, LOL. Also to take smaller bites. -
Hi everyone! I did really well this weekend. In fact, yesterday at the Y I did a 1 hour muscle conditioning class as well as 30 min zumba and 30 min zumba toning. I'm feeling it today, especially that muscle conditioning class! I did have a bowl of ice cream one evening, but counted it and then worked it off!!! Chrissy- how's the restriction?? Are you doing better? At restriction or need an unfill? Don't be a hero!! I have been having mini-stuck episodes, which- strangely enough- I"m happy for as it means it's working (right, Chrissy!). I have another fill next Monday of .5 cc's, so hopefully I"ll be close! I have been eating way too fast, need to slow that down!!!! I hope everyone else is doing well! Mags, haven't heard from you in awhile, what's up???

Has Anyone Gone Through The University Of Iowa Hospital For Their Band?
JustDoIt130 replied to kristikay's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi there, I'm not sure what they'll do at the appointment, mine wasn't that long til my pre-op one (I was banded in north Carolina), but I'm from Iowa city, my dad taught at the medical school (microbiology) for 37 years- so just wanted to say hi to a fellow Iowan! Call them and ask what to expect, maybe. -
Yay Meredith!! That is awesome! I seem to have lost more weight if I fluctuate my calories- even the week I ate a TON of birthday cake and ice cream- almost as much as pre-band amounts, even- I only lost a half a pound that week, but the next week I had a big loss. SO- I'm okay with a day every so often of higher calories. I try not to even do it every week, but I do go between 1000-1300 calories without stressing. Good for you getting back to the exercise! I know it's important to me for losing weight. n2animals- that's an interesting way to do fills, I kind of like that because you get to restriction! Hope it all goes well for you- and don't wait this time if you do have an issue!! Erica- that weight tracking really helps me see how my loss goes, if that makes sense. It is good to have a place where we are all in this together!!!!
