Hey NJ2NC, good to see you! Are you tracking your food? Use myfitnesspal or lose it or something, and really keep track. And if you need a snack, good ol' airpopped popcorn is really filling (so far I can still eat that). I know it's hard!! And I am the one who alternates calories- a day here and there (like every couple weeks) that is high- like 1400 - 1700 calories instead of 1000-1300. I workout hard too, usually elliptical or zumba 6 days a week. And I would imagine that your body "likes" that weight and it may take a minute for your body to "get past" it. Just be kind and patient, and maybe try shaking up the calories and really carefully counting them. Hope this helps! Chrissy- YAY!! Stuck in Onederland! What a good place to be!!! Nicki

Hi everyone! I survived!!! Yesterday before we left for home I took the kids to the neighborhood pool, and they were doing a Water aerobics class- which I joined in. It was fun! Then I had a bit of a food melt down last night, but when I stood on the scale I show a little loss- if I can hold on to that 1.5 lbs til tomorrow, I'll have met my 60 lbs by my birthday goal a little early! Yay! Nicole- good for you taking a break or a walk instead of scarfing down chocolate! And 209 puts you at a 3 lb loss, nothing to sneeze at for sure! Hope you get your full cc today. My next fill is in a couple weeks, I can't wait! Erica- which beach do you go to? I was at Sunset Beach in NC. My parents live there and my aunt and uncle own a condo they let us use if they're not there. I love it, so much fun- just use sunscreen!!! Meredith- that was funny, carrying the mulch and realizing how much you've lost! I always compare it to sticks of butter- so far I've lost almost 240 sticks of butter, LOL!!! Well, my first day back at work after vacation, let's see what I have to deal with!!! Nicki

Checking in at 225.5, down 2.5!

Hi everyone! Checking in from the beach! Had a really late dinner out- really had to work on eating slowly, as I kind of had a mini (thankfully) stuck episode, which passed quickly (also thankfully!). Tomorrow I'm going to the little clubhouse they have and use the elliptical. Also more beach! ChrissyLu, that is FABULOUS!!! Onederland!!! Congratulations!!! I'll check in some time tomorrow.

Heavy Drinker Wants To Keep Drinking, But How?
JustDoIt130 replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too am a heavy drinking- I just guzzle it when I can! It will work! -
Yes, relax, this is a RARE occurance that no anesthesiologist ever wants to happen! I don't even remember being knocked out, the nurse gave me a little shot of something (can't remember what it was called) and all I remember was giving my cell phone to my husband- then waking up in the recovery room!!! You'll be fine.

This Might Be A Stupid Question...
JustDoIt130 replied to Lacey8724's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon put 5 cc's in my 14 cc band at surgery. Then at my 6 week appointment he started filling more- I'm up to a little over 9 cc's in my band. Feel some restriction, and steadily losing! -
Hi everyone- I wasn't able to get on the site at all yesterday! I missed all y'all (that's plural in the South for y'all). Chrissy- yay on the new summer bottoms! I think the closest Sears outlet to me is about 45 min-1 hour away. I'll have to check again!! Meredith-How's the yard coming? If you'd like to come help me with my yard, I'm all for it!! LOL. I totally have tons of stuff I need to do- slow but sure. I just got my big patio poured and my driveway widened. Kflower- I tried the muscle milk light and absolutely hated it!! I use the unjury protein powder- chocolate splendor and vanilla. I mix the vanilla with trop 50 orange juice and strawberries, love it. Savannah- I might try those EAS shakes, I have heard they are pretty good and it would be nice to have something already made sometimes. Also congrats on the NSVs! No one but my immediate family knows I had WLS either, so it's nice to get positive comments. And slow and steady will win this race for sure!! Rhale- hm, was your doctor concerned about the sideways port? Do you know why it happened? Good thing they could still do the fill!! And like I said to Savannah- slow is good, I look at it as it's way better than gaining, which is what I was doing!! Erica- I really felt it when I overate last Sunday- it wasn't even fun, which is a good thing! We go to the beach tonight, so I'll post from there to let you know! I tried on the swimsuit for fun last night though . I weigh in every day but only count the weight on Wednesday. I know thought that I may get obsessive about it, and may have to revisit how much I weigh. I was down another 2.5 lbs yesterday, WID, yay! My elliptical needs a new wheel, so I walked outside yesterday, which was nice, up and down hills. It was a nice change of pace! Everyone have a great day, I'll update from the beach!

Help!!! Finally Starting Solid Foods....
JustDoIt130 replied to ktsped's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat a lot of rotisserie chicken (bought from the store) mixed with either black beans (I use Bush's seasoned recipe) or refried beans. I think the lean cuisine would be fine, though, actually. Just eat the protein first. Also, greek yogurt is much better than regular- way more protein. I think a lot of people eat deli meat and cheese (no bread). You'll find things you like! -
First Milestone "get Under 300 Lbs" Achieved !!
JustDoIt130 replied to bigenuff's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is awesome! Congratulations!!! -
I'm a pretty big wimp, but it's nothing. I am not even numbed before. They just prod around for my port, then do the fill. No problems. I've had I think 4 fills so far.
-
Perfectly normal! You're not getting a ton of calories, for sure. Just follow doctor's orders, and you'll be fine!
-
Oh, and Savannah, that is awesome! Plateaus happen, but if you keep on making good decisions it too shall pass!

Hi everyone! Hope your day is going well. I'm eating lunch slowly right now (1/2 c refried Beans and 4 oz canned chicken. Yum! Zumba planned for tonight, love it! On Thursday I'm going down to my mom and dad's at the beach. My sister, brother in law and their 4 boys will be there. I can't wait to wear my real swimsuit instead of a huge tank top and cut off sweats! Hope everyone has a great day! Nicki

How big is your band? If it's 10cc's, why can't more be added? I know some people have to be pretty filled to reach restriction. I know sometimes it helps me to go through the 5 whys of why I'm eating, then try to do something else other than eat. I want to eat this- why? because I"m bored. Why? Because everyone is out and I'm all alone. Why? because I chose not to go with them. Etc. THen- if you're really hungry eat, if you're bored, make a list of things to do INSTEAD of eat. It can be a big mental game, and you have to take charge. This is YOUR journey, and the band is not magic, it's WORK- but it's so worth it!!! Good for you for doing zumba, I do too and I LOVE it! It's a great workout! Also, track your food. I use myfitnesspal- they have an app for my phone and I'm religious about tracking everything! It keeps me honest and on track and- it keeps me losing weight! You can track your calories and exercise and Water. Keep posting here too, it's totally a great place to get support and ideas!

That is awesome! I'm so inspired! What is your "ultimate" goal? How long have you been banded? What has inspired/challenged you? -
Totally forgot on Friday! I am at 228, down 3 lbs!!!

I just knew it was now or never. I couldn't do it on my own- well, I could lose I just couldn't keep it off. I hated how I looked, had hardly any clothes, knew I'd never advance in my job or get another one looking like I did. It was just time. I wasn't getting any younger. I wanted to go to Paris with my daughter and not worry about sitting in the airplane seat. I wanted to want to play with my little kids instead of always putting them off and sitting around. At almost 42, it was just time to take charge of myself and time to start caring about myself. Now I make time to work out because *I* am important. I treat myself well because *I* am important! And because I do, I seem to be treating everyone else in my family better. It's definitely been a win/win for my entire family.

Hi everyone! I was having some trouble with the site this morning. I survived the HS Graduation on Saturday. Did well at the dinner after- had salmon and some mashed potatoes, and a small piece of cake. BUT yesterday- another story. I did really well all day- did get stuck at dinner, I ate way too fast. Then an argument with my DH led me to 2- yes, 2- big bowls of ice cream. About 1000 calories worth. And I still feel sick today. But I logged it. And the dumb thing was- as I was eating, I thought, "I'm eating this because I"m angry at DH (d was not standing for dear at this moment) and I don't care! It tastes good, and I want it and I DESERVE it." So I ate it. And I'm not beating myself up about it, I've logged it and owned it and moved on. Today is an OP day!!! How is everyone! Meredith, I haven't had cukes in awhile- but I know sometimes they cause burps even without LBS- that's why they have burpless varieties. Maybe try an English cuke, they're known to cause less burping. Chrissy- I love zucchini- in really fattening zucchini bread! Which I won't be making any time soon! My mom used to saute it with onions and butter, that actually sounds really good to me now. Well, so this last fill (however much it was, since he wouldn't tell me) has definitely made me have to slow down and chew!!! I got stuck on a little egg roll thingy, not a big bite I just didn't chew well and had several minutes of ick. Have any of you tried the papaya enzymes that are supposed to help if you get stuck- that or I also heard the enzymes in pineapple juice also can help with a stuck episode. Well, today I have food planned, exercise will be elliptical later, and last week I turned up the resistance for my workout and am burning a lot more calories. So, one slip up is not going to derail my weight loss or my attitude!!!

How Many "perfect" People Are Out There?
JustDoIt130 replied to marfar7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Going into this I was determined to succeed. That meant for me I needed to follow "orders.". And I do, most of the time. HOWEVER...sometimes I don't. I too try to follow the 80/20 rule. I do log my food as I need to for me. I WANT to be successful, so I'm completely willing to make some lifestyle changes. But I'm not perfect, and I definitely don't beat myself up when I'm not perfect. I've lost almost 60 lbs since being banded 1/26/12. -
Oh, and ita with Otaknam- water!! Important!
-
Hi Savannah- ya know, 1 lb a week is nothing to sneeze at! So, you can be better and you're working towards that. SO- you know all about the salad dressing- and you're not eating that anymore. DO- log all the BLT's and meals- I use myfitnesspal, it totally keeps me on track DO- exercise. It's important. Do what you can do. Use that new treadmill to have to buy new clothes, not as a clothes hanger for your old clothes DO-Keep logging in here- I know this group helps me! DON'T- beat yourself up! You got this band for a reason, you can start utilizing it more right now, no problem! You can do it CONSIDER- I'm kind of with Meredith on the OTC diet pills. But do what you think is the best thing. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

person of interest, for sure!! Jim Caviezel is so HOT!!! LOL

During The Lapband Procedure...
JustDoIt130 replied to Chamie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a catheter either. It's a pretty short surgery, so you probably won't have to worry. They have seen it all, so don't worry, LOL
