No worries, Meredith, I'm a talker too! Are you taking biotin for your hair? It's been working for me for my hair, and my fingernails have never been stronger!! I take a 5000 mcg pill, about the size of a tic tac, twice a day, once in the morning, once at lunch. I got the Spring Valley brand at walmart. Ladybandito- not sure about the irritated feeling- have you been stuck a lot lately?? Hope it is all good. Nicole- awesome list!! Not much to say, a pretty crappy night and morning with DH issues, but they seem to have calmed down...but, I didn't eat over it!! Yay me!!!!

Girl, you've lost 64 lbs in 6 months!!!! You're awesome!!!!
  5. Imvho- don't tell him until you feel it's right. Why should he care? It's not like you have to confess to being a serial killer or that it's even something that would affect him. He knows what you eat like, so whatever. Maybe if it comes up, or he asks (if he sees the scars, etc), you don't want to lie, but you can be nonchalant- "oh, I had lapband a year ago," like it's no big deal- because it's not. Good luck!!! If it's right it won't matter about the band one iota. Ymmv edited because spelling is important!!

Hi Nicole- I wondered where you were. That's how I get when I'm not super motivated- I read but don't post. So- glad to see you, for sure! Good goal. How are you feeling after your last fill? All good? Any more restriction? I'm feeling grouchy today for some reason- well, I figured out one of the reasons I'm tired, too- ttotm showed up (it's unpredictable). Grrr- BUT on the good side, usually that shows up and I GAIN weight, but instead lost weight! I love my band!!! Nicki

Hi everyone!! Savannah- yes, you need a birthday goal! Good luck on the vacation eating- do you track in myfitnesspal? It's really a good tool. Set yourself some parameters. Road trips were hard for me, but when we drove to the beach (only 3.5 hours) I just only let myself snack on the things I'd brought with me. I did miss not drinking my giant diet pepsi. I miss it. Otaknam- I too have problems seeing what I look like now. I've been taking pictures of my journey. I was doing every week, now it's every few weeks. Last week I looked at my first picture taken the night before surgery vs. my last week picture- after 60+ lbs lost- and it was much more noticable with the photographic evidence . I too have noticed my seatbelt fits much better!! Ladybandito- You're doing great! I do agree that starting at a lower weight it will come off a little more slowly, but so what as long as it's coming off!!! You've lost a lot of weight- like 50 lbs- that's a LOT!! Since January!! So it's really not too slowly. Every time I feel like my weight loss is too slow, I compare it to my previous life and the gaining I was doing!! I lost 3 lbs this past week, yay. I'm resetting my Savannah goal- I had to lose a total of 67 lbs by 7/26, but I'm only .5 away from that, so I'm redoing my goal to have lost 70 lbs by 7/26. That will put me at 214. I have not seen that number in over 7 years!!!! So, I'm happy. Sweaty zumba last night, not sure what is on for tonight. I am really tired food all logged in to myfitnesspal, I love that app!!

Hi Horsegirl!! Glad all is well! Don't disappear for too long, I start to worry, LOL. That is awesome that you can be more active now. Just really focus on your goals- that's the great thing about the lapband. And I do think that is a great NSV to maintain your weight- I know that before, one "bad day" on a diet was totally my excuse to just blow it totally and forget about it. Now, I have my lapband and I can always correct myself!! Our new goal is 7/26- mine is to have lost 67 lbs by then. Meredith- yes, I think you can be at restriction even with a low fill, it just depends on your own personal innards, LOL. Do wait it out a bit, but don't go too long if you really do need an unfill!!! Chrissy- I hope you're feeling better. It makes sense that you'd be tighter around ttotm. I rarely get mine (yay), so haven't experienced that yet. And LOL on the fondant pronunciation- it bothers me too!!! It would be fun to go to their store, though. Okay everyone- Kymie, Mags, Otaknam, et al- where are you!!!! Post!!! I miss you !!!!!

    Overall Purpose

Oh, and I forgot to add, that I am learning how to eat more healthy, smaller portions, and to avoid slider foods. I will be in the habit of doing these things for the long haul. Still want my band though! You still have to be on a "diet" with the band- meaning eating well, eating healthy foods and appropriate portions. There's a time when you're first banded when you do DIET- in the traditional sense of the word. You're in "bandster hell" where the band is in place but not filled- you won't have restriction, any weight you lose you'll lose the "old fashioned" way. It also builds up your willpower. It's not a magic thing that you get for just awhile and then, voila, you're cured. It's a permanent thing.

    Overall Purpose

I will never get rid of my lapband unless I medically have to. I have lost weight too many times to count, only to regain it. The purpose of the lapband for me is to help me with portion control, so I will feel full on a much smaller amount of food that I usually was eating. I know the theory. I've "learned" how to eat. It hasn't stuck very well. At the most, I'd unfill my band a little when I get to maintenance. But knowing it was always there to help me if I need it makes me know I will be successful this time- for the LONG haul.

Hi Meredith- maybe you're one of the lucky ones that has restriction at a low fill amount! Go get unfilled and feel better. You are still losing and doing really well, so just get adjusted to where you are comfortable and can eat!! Chrissy- me too on the shopping- cheap Wal-Mart everyday stuff and Kohls or Lane Bryant for career wear. I'll still do Kohls, just a different department. Coldwater Creek is very nice, some really pretty stuff! I just can't wait to go wherever I want, LOL. Amica, hope you're rocking those Old Navy pants!! Well, I had a run-in with ice cream again yesterday. Sigh. I can't decide if I want to just absolutely not eat it at all, or just eat it on Sunday nights and know I"ll eat a lot of it, LOL. Input welcome. I too have been tight after this last fill, more stuck episodes. But I don't think it's too tight, I think I"m just in the learning curve part of after a fill. I also get what I think someone on the boards called "first bite syndrome," where I'm really hungry and don't chew that first bite well and it gets kind of stuck. So I'm working on that, really being mindful of eating and chewing and taking small bites. As I say, the learning curve! I got up early this morning and did a 40 minute Firm video. A guy at work is going to fix my elliptical for me in the next few weeks, which will be nice and save me some $$. Everyone have a great day!! Nicki

Can You See Your Port? (Photo)

LOL, is it wrong that I just looked at this thread to see you in a swim suit, B-52?? LOL Do people ever ask what it is?
  17. Ice cream is my nemesis. Right now I do eat it a little, but really have to have portion control. Sometimes that's easier said than done. Luckily it's out in the fridge in the garage, and it's somewhat of an obstacle course to get to it, LOL.

    Wii Fit!!!

I was super bummed that just as I got into working out again and bought Wii Zumba my Wii broke! Super bummed. And they're coming out with a new Wii around the holidays, so we have to wait.

    Food Question

That sounds like a really yummy lunch! I also do a lot of rotisserie chicken (I buy them on sale, pick them, and then package them up in 3 oz servings) with either black or refried beans. Yummy!

    Emotional

I really like the unjury brand Protein powder. The vanilla - I use 1 scoop powder, 1 c trop 50 orange juice and some strawberries and crushed ice and mix with my immersion blender, or 1 scoop vanilla, 1 Tbsp dry sugar free pistachio pudding mix and 1 c skim milk and some crushed ice, super yummy, or I do 1 scoop chocolate splendor, 1 c skim milk and a couple ice cubes. Super cold chocolate milk! Hope you find something you like, protein is very important. what about canned chicken or tuna? Or eggs, they're a good source. I do hardboiled eggs, or take 1 morningstar farms sausage patty and heat it up in a skillet and then crumble it, then scramble 2-3 eggs into it. Yummy!

    Have You Gone Back???

I eat out quite a bit. Just less! I have been to the Angus barn, chick fil a, a yummy mexican restaurant called the flying burrito. I order what I want, eat what I want to of it and either throw the rest out or take it home. I do try to make healthy choices. I just had another fill so not sure how much restriction I'll have now....
  22. JustDoIt130

    January Surgery Bandsters Group

I don't think I'm too tight, I think I ate so much I can't tell what the restriction really is like! But I'm no hero, if I think I'm too tight I'll get a smidge out.
  23. JustDoIt130

    January Surgery Bandsters Group

Oh, and it seems that I am tighter from this fill, but since I ate so much I have to kind of go easy for a few days to get back to seeing what my restriction really is like.

Hi everyone! Well, I ate way too much last night, even though my b-day was on the 4th we did my b-day dinner last night since I was on mushies from my fill. I made a fennel and Pasta salad with stilton cheese and walnuts (so so so good) and shrimp, with chocolate dipped strawberries for dessert (later). I ate way too many shrimp, and boy am I still paying for it! I feel icky!! Oh well. Ces't la vie. And I haven't been exercising the last few days, as our ac is out and it's just been too much. So back on track food wise today, and will exercise. I have a friend at work who will help fix my elliptical, so that makes me happy. My AC is fixed, it was a quick $80 fix, which also made me happy. So all seems better! Hope all is well with everyone, it's been pretty quiet!!!! Nicki
  25. I wonder about this too, as I'm going to France in a few months and wonder how it will affect me. My PA at the surgeon said to treat the first day off the plane as if it was the day of a fill, to just do liquids.
