Hi Linda, Nice to meet you! I'm also in my fifties...I had my surgery on May 23 of this year. The liquid diet isn't so bad, I was so excited about my surgery by the time I started it, I felt like I could do anything I needed to do. I look forward to hearing about how things are going with you. Robin
