I attended the weight loss seminar in August of 2014 after reaching my highest weight ever of 296 lbs. I felt ashamed to be there and wasn't sure if surgery could even help me. After listening to everything the surgeon said, I left there feeling rather optimistic. The surgeon's office contacted me a few days later and told me that surgery was covered by my insurance and I made my appointment for my initial consultation. I did 3 months of supervised weight loss and was then approved for surgery. During that waiting period, I did a sleep study (found out I have sleep apnea and now have a CPAP machine), an endoscopy (found out I have a hiatal hernia) and we determined GBS was the best surgery for me.
My surgery is scheduled for Feb. 10, 2015.
