Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Margi replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all, well, I had my fill emptied a few weeks ago, I was soooooooo tired of the pain of stuck food, and of throwing up!!! I had an upper G.I. to make sure all was ok, the surgeon told me all was ok, and that they just have not made the right fill for me yet. He says next time only a small drop of a fill is all I get!!! We decided to just give it all a break for a few month. Well, I have gained 6 pounds, so I am thinking of getting that "drop" soon!! Even now with the band empty, every day I still have restriction, and the food gets stuck!! I am not sure what to do, any suggestions?? thanks from all my 50ish buddies!!!:cursing: -

Hi all, I have not been on here in a while. I was having so much problem with fills. They cant seem to find one that works for me. A little bit was too much and none was not enough. I was soooooooo tired of the pain and throwing up, I went in and had all the fill taken out. They send me for an upper G. I. and it was normal. The surgeon called me and we figured that maybe leave it rest for a while. So I am having no fill for a couple of months. The band has not been what I thot it would be. I have lost 56 pounds since April of last year. Anyone else have this problem?? -
Hi all, I have not been keeping up with this board for quite a while, have been sooo busy! I went last week to the BC and had all of the fill taken out. I was soooooooo sick and tired of the pain with every bite, and the throwing up! I could not even get down yogurt. So, I had it emptied for a few months to give it all a rest! The BC sent me in for an upper GI which I had done this week, dont know the results yet. Have any of yous had this problem? It seems they cannot find the right "fill" for me, a small amount is just too much, and none is not enouf! At this point, I am so tired of it, dont know if I will ever get another fill, it seems like I am doing quite well like it is now. I still have some restriction, but now without the pain. I have been stuck on losing and gaining the same 8 pounds for months. No words can describe how great I felt when all of the "fill" was taken out!!!! It was relaxing for the first time in a long time! I was so upset that I even had the band put in, now I feel better. The band has never been what I thought it would be. I thought that you could eat most things only a small amount and you would be full, and stop eating. That is NEVER how it has been. Most of the year I ate very little food, and most of it always got stuck! Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks.

Wow! you look just fabulous!!! What a great inspiration you are!! I do remember talking with you before. I just had a 3rd fill last week, and I just cant seem to get into the losing grouve I was into before. Any helpful ideas? It all started with that darn pumpking pie at Thanksgiving time!!! I found out though that like I said before, when I get a fill, it is always too much, and then I cant eat anything except to drench all food in either sour cream, ranch dressing, (light of course), or mayo, and eat a LOT of low sugar ice cream, and because of all that my cholesterol, and blood pressure are sky high! If I dont drench this stuff, nothing goes down, except soups. YUK!! And if they give me just a touch less fill, I am hungry all the time. Any helpful info from you would be great!! I do exercise a LOT!! and walk every day. I am missing something. What do you eat???? YOu look like a movie star, is that really a picture of you?? -
So glad to see all of you here! I prayed before I even called about the surgery and I said "Lord, if I am supposed to have this done, please let everything go really well, and with no problems" And, guess what, it all has gone exceptionally well, from the first plan to the surgery to now, and the 56 pounds I have dropped since April 07!!!!!! Like I always say "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine"!!!! Talk to you all soon.

Yes, I did have the surgery in Flint at Hurley like some of yous. I really wish there were a place for the fills closer to me in Auburn, but they say because of liablility they have to do the fills where I had the surgery. -

Hi everyone from Michigan!! I have not been on the Lapband board for months. What happened to the tickerfactory where I can update my #.s???? Teachlady I have met on the board. What a nice person. I am looking either for a group meeting or to start one in this area of Bay City, and Midland. Anyone know of one??? I was banded on April of 07, I lost about 57 pounds quickly, then it had been 5 months that I had had a fill, and I got one this week. I had only gained back a few pounds. They cant seem to find a fill that fits me, either it is not enouf or too much. I seem to have been on quite a stall for a while, hopefully now it will pick up although with this fill I am still quite hungry. Glad to have this board and all of yous!! -
MY GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD!!!!:clap2:

I don't post much either because I don't feel I have much to offer either, but I am thinking about it, and well, I guess maybe I do! After losing 53 pounds and 10 sizes in 4 months, I have something to maybe encourage you all with! Of course doing the surgery and still now I always do everything with Prayer! But, after that I have found things turn out much better if you keep always positive about it all! Don't listen to anyone or anything that is negative. I told myself, this is something I have decided to do, I AM doing it, and I refuse to listen to anyone negative!! Everything has been just wonderful for me, except for the last fill which I got to much, and was my own fault for waiting 7 weeks to get some unfill. If you work the "band", it will work for you!! It is not all easy, you have to put in a great effort every day. Follow the rules, watch what you eat, drink your protein, and WATER, and of great importance, EXERCISE!! And, probly most important of all, stay on this board for support!!! The band will let you know when you do something wrong! Good wishes to all of you about to get the band, and stay POSITIVE!! P.S. The B. Center took my after picture last week, to go with my before, even though I have more to lose, they say I look totally different!! That was a great push for me!!:whoo:

After all of your help and advice, I finally went a few days ago and got a quarter of a fill removed, and now i can FINALLY EAT!!! The food is going down good!! I waited 7 weeks too long!! And, they pulled out all of the fluid and every drop was still in there! I feel good now. !!!!!! The fill had just been too much, so now they know how much I need each time, not much!!:whoo:

anyone who might know??? I had my second fill almost 7 weeks ago. They gave me the max fill at that time, which was a 5. They told me that might be too much, but was gonna try it. From that day till now, it is extremely too tight, every time I eat anything it hurts, still throwing up at times, I called the BC after 2 weeks and asked them if I should wait, will the fill evaporate some, they said no it wont, and that I could come in and get some unfill, but I thot I would wait, and it STILL is the same. I asked why would it not evaporate, and they just said because. Then why would people need more of a fill, if they had only have a small bit? I reallky dont understand this, should I go after 7 weeks and get some taken back out, and why has it not evaported a bit?????help!!!!:help:
