lol the only part I find harsh is calling my docter a convicted felon. But I guess I don't have much ground to debate that part with you... And since I misunderstood your intentions I just offer you my sincere apology.

Have you heard of Dr Leung?? I am not sure where he is located in canada but his support group on yahoo is at BCBANDITS , maybe its time for you to try another fill doctor...

My port incision was hurting alot also, and there was a littile lump also.. one day when I was cleaning it, it started leaking this thick red bllod. It continued leaking slowly for about a day and after it closed up the pain and the lump where gone.

you sound much too harsh  , health insurance recoding is done more then you think. I am not condoning it, but please... all you know is what you have read in that article... No need to sound to harsh aight I had surgery with Dr verboonen, he didn't steal my deposit or cause me any harm, he doesn't hang out with other "convicted felons" and I know this first hand. I am also not too worried about getting fills, because there is always Dr Ponce de leon. I knew about this insurance issue before I got banded, but I didn't think to much of it, and if I had to do it again I would still choose Dr Verboonen. I guess what I am trying to say is, we all love our doctor the best. If you want try to bring out the best of your experiences with your doctor, that will convince more people that your doctor is great then trying to put other peoples doctors down.

First of all, your only 187 lbs. I started at 255 lbs. People tend to loose faster the heavier a person is. I bet once I reach 187 lbs my plateaus will last for 3 or 4 weeks. Secondly Males tend to loose weight faster then females, we have more muscle mass and that is what burns fat. A couple of things you could try out to jump start the loosing process again: 1) Drink a lot of Water, I have a sticky in the support forum that explains why that is really needed. 2) Do some excercise, but in no way deprive yourself of food. Just eat till you feel satisfied. And if you don't loose any weight then you might consider getting a fill. But anyway, set a realistic date you want to be at your goal weight, I set mine for next year december. And then keep track of your progress. I am pretty sure that in about 1 year I will be able to slim down to 155lbs.

how much did you weigh before banding Mary?? Anyway, 22 lbs is a great loss. I am on plateaus all the time. The way I see it, when I am not loosing pounds I am loosing inches.. And Its true...

If you don't live in a area with experienced fill doctors, I really suggest you just fly back to Mexico and get the fill with the doctor that did your surgery. Doing a fill is a artform, its not just sticking a needle in and putting so many cc of saline. The least that could happen with a inexperienced doctor is that you will get not enough fill or overfilled. But I have read that some people had their band punctured while having a fill and had to have it repaired.

Liquids actually go straight thru the stoma, So don't feel bad if you eat more then the half cup. I questioned myself all the time in the beginning , if I was doing it correctly or not, but as time goes by you will get the hang of it. Just remember liquids go straight thru the stoma , so drink as much of those as you want. But stay away from the junk food ofcourse! Its the solid food that will give you the full feeling, you will learn how to deal with that when it time for you to switch back to solid food. Remember one thing "CHEW" and eat "SLOWLY"

LoL burping??? How about wanting to ( excuse my language ) fart all the time???? On my flight back from San Diego I basically lived in the bathroom!!!
-
I am asian and rice is a main staple in my diet, And having grown up in Holland I also love to eat potatoes and milk and cheese. Those where the things I at a lot of before I got banded. But ever since I have the band I can't and I don't think of eating those anymore, it just doesn't go down well. Nowadays I just eat whatever I want, the band takes care of overeating. I tend to stick with Soups because I can have a big bowl of it without having to run to the bathroom every other bite.

I was banded about 3 months ago and food still gets stuck all the time. The last 2 days the restriction has been really tight, even swallowing water is hard. I think it might be the change of the weather lols.

leo replied to jOANNE's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As long as people feel comfortable with the procedure, i would say it doesn't matter if its the RNY or Band. Maybe in the future there will be another procedure even safer and better then lapbanding. Will we lapbanders look at it with the same suspicion as RNY people look at us??? As long as we loose weight and regain our life back I would say, Go Go Go! ( I don't think i am making any sense here ) -
Don't be dissapointed vampy, you still 50lbs less then you where before. Don't get discourage with a temporary set back.
-
Maybe the fill shifted my band just a little bit so food doesn't get stuck in the stoma as easily. But thats just my guess lols
-
Wow Elma, you have come a long way. I hope one day to be just as succesfull as you have been with your weightloss! Speaking of pictures, aren't you just happy you took the before pictures?? It must be a great feeling to look over your own pics and see how things have changed right???
-
yup she defiantly has the lapband i just read this article and it specifically mentions the lapband and how it works. http://abcnews.go.com/sections/2020/DailyNews/osbournes_021104.html

That would be to the discretion of the person doing the fill I guess. When I got my fill, the doctor ask me how much fill I wanted. I decided to stop at 3cc total.
-
could it be your menstrual cycle??
-
if you mean 2002 then yes it has been a slow. You do mean 2003 right??
-
drink as much liquids as you can tolerate at a time. Liquids pass thru you stoma without any problems at all. so Drink UP!!!!!!
-
I kept Pbing all the way up to the first fill. After having my first fill I suddenly stop doing that and I am now able to eat solid food without it being stuck.
