Your doing great Cindy, you have been able to loose 70lbs since january. Thats great!!! Your only suppose to loose on average 2 lbs a week. I can't wait till I loose as much as you!! Just go for a fill and you should be back on the "loosing" track again lols. I normally drink lots of Soups. I just open a can on chunky Soup and add some mixed veggies in it and I split it in 2 portions.

I am in Brooklyn NY. -
Wow, a large chili and a potatoe is a little bit to much... But loosing 70lbs is great!!!! Sometimes your body needs a rest from loosing all that weight, and it plateaus. Maybe it's time for a fill???

your doctor is Dr Leung right??? btw, in response to your other post about Protein drinks. Have you ever considered Soy milk?? try getting hold of the ones made by Vitasoy.

Does anyone know of any new band studies ??
leo replied to sheryl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
sheryl, in the files section of the DFWbandsters there are many articles. Go have a look... -
I can't answer for the port. But if the area around a incision or wound is hot it normally is a sign of infection. But like I said, don't think it applies to the port area. Why don't you call your doctor and ask????

I didn't do a pre op diet, I was told not to drink or eat starting from 12 midnight the day before surgery.

Amy, like you said there is risk involved with every Surgery, but I think the percentage of complications with the lapband procedure is very minute. And definatly better then getting your internals rearranged with the By Pass. Try to find out as much as you can about the lapband procedure and ask people that have gone thru this before. That should help you come to a informed decision.... Jerry would be a great person to email for more info

It's called PB , Productive Burp. you should find some info on that in the lapband FAQ thats on this site. here is the link to it http://hometown.aol.com/texasrosey/

Looking for a fill in all the wrong places!
leo replied to Suzy Q's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Susan I found this info on the mexican bandsters group: Dory Ferraro,M.S.,C.S.,ANP (Long Island Bariatric Center) , (516) 454-0960 , $250.00 without flouroscope , $450 with. Then there is Dr Kurian and Dr Ren, but I don't see any contact info available. Hope this info is valid. Btw, I think you should also tell them you have a midband, they might not fill for a midband. -
jerry, I just stand on the scale with my barefeet. And the scale with send a very low electrical current thru your body. And depending how long it takes for that current to return to the sensors that is how it calculates the body fat percentage. You have to make sure you use that feature around the same time everyday, because it can fluctuate a lot during the day. I normally step on the scale in the morning, according to the scale my fat content has dropped from 50+ to around 40.

Drink soymilk!!!!
-
The tofu from vita is very good.
-
yes shellyj, thats the exact reason I weigh myself nowadays. So that I can adjust what and how much I eat. But so far I have been loosing weight no matter what I put in myself. So no need for any adjustments yet.
-
don't worry camilla, I eat about the same amount as you do. As long as you are loosing weight, your ok. If you feel satisfied after the meal then it means the band is working.
-
Before being banded the scale was my worse enemy. After going on a diet and loosing like 30lbs, I would plateau. So I would eat a little more, and a little more and after a while I would forget about the diet. I would end up gaining back the 30lbs and some more. Now after being banded, I am not afraid of my scale anymore. I have one of those scales that also measure your fat content.

the midband is made by the french their website is athttp://www.midband.fr/mid_anglais/index.htm the lapband is usa fda approved their former name was bioenterics and now is called inamed. their website is at http://www.inamedhealth.com/ the swedish band is made by obtech medical, their website was at http://www.obtechmedical.com/indexie2.html , but since it's been aquired by johnson and johnson , that website is down.
