Vanderbilt Weight loss
lamsunshine replied to biggene's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The VA was sending me through Vanderbilt, )Dr. Williams), but 4 weeks before my surgery date they decided I had to go to a VA so I ended up going to West Virginia. I have not met anyone that has had surgery at Vanderbilt everyone in my support group had it done at Centeniall. I know this was not much help , but wanted to let you know I was going to have it at Vanderbilt. -
The waiting game
lamsunshine replied to gotamakeachange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you are feeling. I started my sleeve journey last October and was just sleeved on September 2nd. My advise to you, is to be patient, and use the waiting time to learn everything you can about the surgery. I know it seems like it may be a long wait, but the time will go fast. It is still hard for me to believe I actually have my sleeve. I fought for it so hard, and for so long, but in the end if I had to do it all over again I would. Good luck on a December date. Keep us posted. -
The waiting game
lamsunshine replied to gotamakeachange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was suppose to lose 17 pounds, I only lost 10 lbs and they called me for my surgery. I joined weight watchers and was losing 2 lbs a week. I had a hard time following a strict diet, but did not have a problem with weight watchers. Only problem it was $12.00 a week, but for me it was worth it. Good luck, I know you can do it. -
Hi from Baltimore :)

I am not controlling my sweet tooth
lamsunshine replied to MINI-Me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think this time of the year is really bad. I know I had one mini snickers bar the past two days, and felt so guilty. I bought 4 big bags of candy thinking I was going to have alot of trick-a-treaters, and only had four. So I was stuck with four big bags of candy, I did not buy reeses, as they are my all time favorite, and knew I would not be able to control myself. I had my daughter bring a big bag of candy with her to school, brought a bag to work , and still have alot left, but got rid of the snickers, the rest of the candy is kind I can live without. Mini me I know you are not the only one that this happened to and with the holidays around the corner I know you will not be the last. Just remember we are all in the same boat. We can kick that candy's butt, we don't need it... Thanks for being brave enough for this post. Globetrotter, thanks for the tough love you are so right, and I just needed to hear (read it). -
Welcome Dennis good luck on Thursday. You have done an amazing job so far, and will continue with the good job in the future.

That is great, I'm so happy for you!! CONGRATS!!! -
When I started this process I did not even know about the sleeve. I found out about the sleeve when I went to my seminar I was sold as soon as I heard about it an knew that was the surgery for me. Everyone in my support group except for me has had the RNY, and I love it when they say they can not take medicine, and can not eat certain fruits, etc, and I love saying I can take medicine and eat almost everything I want not that I do as I am only 2 months post-op.

Any Fast Eaters?
lamsunshine replied to weightnomore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a fast eater, and sometimes I think I'm still eatting to fast, but I don't get any pain, whatsoever. I make sure I chew all my food realy well but I think I may not be waiting long enough in between bites. But like I said I have not gotten sick, or had any pain whatsoever. -
The Fat Girl Wakes Up
lamsunshine replied to BZButterfly79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All I can remember before anethesia is the surgeon telling me I had a big window in my room, the anethesiaologist telling me to take deep breaths twice, and that is it. The next thing I remember is them waking me up and wheeling me through the halls, and feeling nausiated. I was in ICU for the night which is just a normal procedure. When I woke up post up I did see the world, or shall I say my outlook on life different, I was happy that I finalloy had a chance at a healthy life that I know would not of happened it I had not had been sleeved. My love ones treat me the same, but my mom has told me I am different I'm 7 weeks post of she says I am taking more pride in myself, I don't think I act any different, but maybe I just don't see it. I have hidden behind my weight for many years. I have not been on a date in so long that I can not even remember. I don't like being in any kind of crowd. I have decided when I need to deal with emotions I will have to find another way to do that, don't know how yet, but know food will not be the way. Good luck on your journey, I can tell you I do not regret it and wish I would of done something alot sooner. -
Eating my head off!
lamsunshine replied to Deedle Dee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through this but unfortunately for me, I had almost a year to even get a date for my surgery. So I had alot of last meals that lead to 14 lb weight gain. You of course don't have that long. When I finally did get closer to my surgery I had to join Weight Watchers to lose that excess weight. It has all worked out and since I have been post op, I have been doing great. My advise to you is not to go overboard on the last meals, because if you gain that is just going to be more weight you will have to lose after surgery. Good luck -
I can not wait to try this one. I used to love eggplant parmsean of course since my surger there are alot of things I used to love and can not swallow now. Thanks for the recipe.

Having trouble drinking all the protein Shakes, anyone found protein pills?
lamsunshine replied to coreyandbrett's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Please let someone find a pill for protein. I was just telling my mom the other day, whoever made a pill for protein would probably be very rich. Let me know if you find one and where. -
Just a little encouragement
lamsunshine replied to Tiffykins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you so much, you always seem to make feel better. I'm back to being in focus, and positive. You are so right, and I am losing, and I'm so happy about that. Thank you again... -
Yes, I am watching my carbs, I hardly get any in, because I eat only protein, but I can not eat to much, because I start feeling sick. YOu can do to be under 200 by the end of the year, lets plan that goal the both of us. I have been looking for a excersize bike for when it starts getting cold outside. I need to excersize more, that is for sure.

Just a little encouragement
lamsunshine replied to Tiffykins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have not been on the computer alot lately, and just read your post Tiffykins. I have been feeling down lately. I had my surgery Setember 2, and have only lost 30 lbs, and have been feeling like I have failed at this surgery, because I don't seem to be losing as quickly as others. I guess I should feel happy I have not really had any stalls, I have been losing about 3 to 4 pounds every week or so. There has not been a week that I just have not lost anything. I'm not getting in all my liquids, and that probably is part of, I am getting in more of my Protein then I was, maybe that is why I'm not losing as much as I feel like I should. But anyway this post helped me out alot, I should be happy I have lost anything, but when I read people on here losing double of what I have it is kind of frusterating. Don't get me wrong I am happy for them, I really am, but then wonder how come I'm not losing that fast. But realize I should just be happy I'm losing, and not gaining. My clothes are fitting me better and actually fit into 2 sizes smaller then what I was before surgery. -
5 days til surgery and I'm SCARED!!!!
lamsunshine replied to CountryGirlatHeart's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think all the feelings you are having are normal. For me I did not have that chance to get nervous, or scared as they called me one day and asked me to come in the next day for surgery. You are doing a good thing. Just think if you did not decide to have surgery you could be stressing your family over something worse which was related to your weight. I'm sure they would rather be stressed over this surgery then something else. I will keep you in my thoughts, and prayers. Just take a deep breath, everything will be fine..... -
September Sleevers YAY The party is ON
lamsunshine replied to Labrys's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh no worries. As long as I'm losing I'm happy. I have lost 2 or more pounds a week since surgery, so to me that is good. As far as sizes I have gone down one size in pants, and probably in shirts, my 3x are getting big on me but to scared to try 2x yet. I still fit into my 24 pants, but they are pretty big, and yesterday I wore a size 22 which were a little snug in the stomach area, but real baggy in the rear. As far as sabotaging by comparing to other loses, I know that everyone loses differently and I just need to keep that in mind. Thanks for the pep talk, you put me right back in the right state of mind. -

September Sleevers YAY The party is ON
lamsunshine replied to Labrys's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi I had my surgery on September 2, 2010 and am on soft foods. I feel as if I'm not losing as fast as everyone else. Since surgery I have only lost 25 pounds. I know I should be happy with that, and I am losing 2 to 3 pounds a week, and have not stopped losing, but just feel like I'm losing slower then everyone else. -
