    Drinking After Lapband Surgery

I had surgery at a well known hospital and in the folder I was given, they said week 1 was clear liquids, week 2 was full liquids with protein drinks weeks 3 and 4 were mushies (mashed and pureed foods), week 5 chopped soft foods, week 6 and beyond, a well balanced diet, chewed throughly. If you follow something like this, you'll give your surgery time to heal and give you a better chance for successful weight loss. Look in the food section on this forum for a better idea of what type of food and drinks to eat.
  2. Good for you. Isn't this what all of this is about?
  3. Most of us are in the same place as you, some choose to handle it a little differently, but I have been banded about 10 weeks and haven't had a fill yet, but am still losing. I may have uncontrollable hunger soon and then need a fill, but for now, no fills. I think it's about all about attitude going into this. We had pizza the other night and I had two pieces so maybe I'm headed where you are now, we'll see. I hope you get where you want to be.
  4. Unfortunately all we hear around here are complaints about problems people are having. We don't hear from the hundreds of folks that have no problems at all. I think you fall into that catagory, consider yourself blessed! Here's hoping you keep on keeping on.
  5. It sounds like you know what you're doing, liquids and soft foods for a few days and Rolaids or Prilosec for heartburn should take care of your problems. Don't worry about your thirst, stay hydrated, and lots of luck.
  6. Don't rush things, most surgeons want you to wait 6 weeks before you lift over 10 lbs. Right now walking is the best thing you can do. Get a couple of 5 lb weights to keep your arms in shape, but you need time to heal. For right now, put your feet up and get a lot of rest. If you have a wii, maybe a little exercise with that, but take it easy.

    Two Months Banded And Happy

What'll really be great is to be able to reach the armrest volume controls again, and to fit in a 17" seat. I've never had to use a seatbelt extension, but wasn't far from it. Not anymore.

    Tight Lap Band

I wonder if your pouch is swollen? I'd try a few days on a liquid diet to see if that would help. Warm liquids in the morning seem to do some good.

    My Lap Band Surgery

Most reputable programs suggest that we lose two to three pounds a week. Many of us lose more or less for periods and sometime we stay the same for a while then lose ten lbs almost overnight, it's seldom linear. What's important is that we average 2-3 lbs a week over a several month period. If we don't, we're eating too much no matter what pop science says.

The Lap Band Didn't Work For Me?

You probably should see a GOOD WLS doctor soon. You shouldn't be having those problems. It sounds as though your band has slipped, eroded or you may have developed GERD, all of which need medical attention. You need to either get to an ER, or make an appointment tomorrow. Please take care of this immediately. I hope it turns out well for you.

    Tiredness And Lack Of Motivation

In our program, we were told that for unusual fatigue, to take vitamin B12 (sublingual) tabs. It's worth a try.
  12. In my opinion, a BMI of 35 or greater, diagnosed diabetes and sleep apnea should be enough to qualify you for WLS surgery, with most insurance companies. Any other comorbidities would only strengthen your case. Please keep posting here and keep us informed as to your progress. Good luck.

    Is This Normal

You might try a few days on liquids and see if that helps.

Day 1 Post Lap Band Surgery

Most people find relief by walking a lot and others say windmilling your arms helps (in the privacy of your own home), some swear by GasX tabs, but time is the best cure.

Day 1 Post Lap Band Surgery

I'm assuming you were recently banded. My minor pains lasted about 3 days. Were you given any post op instructions? I guess you know you're not to lift more than 10 lbs for about 6 weeks.

    Port Infection/removal

I had a big, long answer to your PM until I saw this. I am so happy for you, now it's time for you to get to work and make a success of this. It will take a lot of work on your part, and you're going to get discouraged from time to time, when you do, come back here and see if there isn't something we can do to help. The very best of luck to you.

    Extra Skin!

If you put enough effort into this and lose slow and steady, at your age, I'd be surprised if you have any excess skin. Get enough excercise and follow your dietitian's instructions, all you'll put on is muscle. Good luck.
  19. There's nothing to be nervous about, Amanda, in fact he'll be trying his best to put you at ease. It's mostly just a get to know each other meeting. If you have any questions about your surgery or any thing else, write them down beforehand, because you'll forget them, otherwise. I hope it all goes well for you.
  20. Sounds like you're off to a good start. You'll find this a very helpful group as you go along.
  21. There is a routine called "The 5 day pouch test" , look in the search box here or on Google. A number of people here have tried it and had some success with it, It's free and an easy way to get started again.

Substituting Soda After Lap Band Surgery ?

You'll have to try soda yourself, many people react differently to it. After you have all your fills, things may be different for you. Be careful with food and soda, go slowly until you find out how it affects you. Most dietitions say to absolutely abstain, but lots of people don't. Just be careful.
  24. Just be sure to do at least an internet search of any doctor or clinic you're interested in. Find out their experience and history. As with any profession, not all surgeons are created equal. Your few hours of research may save you a lifetime of misery. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck.
  25. I'm no medical person, but it sounds like you've irritated your stoma/pouch and need to go on liquids for a day or two to let any swelling go down. If you're stil having problems in a couple of, days, you should probably make an appointment to see your doctor, but give it some time.
