I think you should stick to what your surgeon says.. if he says you can have sugar.. then that's fine. They have created this whole pre op/post op diet plan.. and apparently it is the best way for your body to heal. Ask your surgeon if you're thinking about making changes to your post op diet... just to be safe. Goodluck Janine!!!!!

they gave me 5 cc and i have NO restriction.. and yeah i'm probably gaining weight! i can't wait until my second fill....

I got my band on January 25th and ever since i've gotten home I've had some awful chest pains! Pressure in my chest that comes and goes... How long does this stay? What can i do to prevent them? :confused:Advice would be appreciated.

The chest pains go away!!! :D Even though it seems to last forever- and is very painful THEY GO AWAY lol after 6-9 days, it's wonderful. After alll of the chest pains go away i suggest you go for a chiropractic adjustment!!

OH goodness, i wish that my gas was coming out of my rear end! It is so PAINFUL!! it comes up from my tummy and into my chest where it stays for 2 seconds, not letting me breathe and it is awful! It hurts a lot. I was lucky though, i had a 20 minute drive home, which i could hardly stand.. But i reccomend that you sleep at a hotel and then leave the following day. I can't imagine being in a plane right after my surgery.. ahh. I've been taking Gas X and it really isn't working much for me and this is my 4th day since my surgery. I really hope that these awful pains go away.. or relocate to my behind.. lol anyways.. Goodluck Ellie!

Welcome! I think it would depend upon where you live. In Toronto,ONT they are more flexible and lenient( regarding BMI and age..)... It varies.

I just got banded on January 25th, so four days after the surgery(this is my fourth) i can only have clear liquids, after my four days i have to stay on "full" fluids(creme soups and milk and what not) for 10 days. after that i'm on to pureed foods.. mashed potatoes and bananas for 14 days and then my 4th week onwards i can have solid foods.. So far i have lost 13 pounds :confused: i'm excited lol... My first fill will be on March 6th and i'm excited! . Good luck Ryan and keep it up!! When is your first fill?

Ah! I was thinking the same thing. I've just been banded and sushi is my favourite food, by far. Someone told me that it'd different with everyone.. on what they can tolerate (foods) and what they can't. Yeah well thats my hope, lol, as soon as i'm off my post-op diet i'm definitely going to try.. at least. :scared:

Yeah, same when i get the pressure/gas thing in my chest i try to burp to relieve myself but i can't. This is the 4th day after my surgery and I'm still getting it. Sometimes it's like a hick-up feeling it comes up then stays up in the chest area for 3 sec - can't breathe and then after those seconds i have to gasp for air. I can't wait until this gas goes away!.. And yeah! I wish all of this gas would come out of a different, less painful place! LOL:nervous

You should try popsicles. On my post-op diet it allows me to have sugar-free popsicles. That should help take away some thirst- Liquid in a solid form, it won't fill you up so quickly because it has to melt. You should try it... it makes me feel better:).

Oh okay, maybe it's that .. the gas. When I walk I feel a little light headed sometimes. The Gas X strips aren't helping me too much though. Is there anything else I can do? It's a pressure feeling in my chest that comes up .. maybe every 5-15 minutes.

I've decided to keep it to myself and tell a few family members. My mother, my father, my brother and my zia(aunt) are the only ones who know about my surgery. This way, i feel like it is in my control... the people who i told, i know will not tell anyone else, leaving me in control of who i want to find out in the future.
