    First Consult is Tomorrow!

I know the "good things come to those who wait" speech probably won't help much. Hang in there Tracy you're on the right path!! :cheer2:

Hang in there Joline! You're almost there. I'm about midway through week 3 and just now feeling some hunger. Metabolism must be kicking in. It's well worth it. Just keep your eye on the prize!! And don't forget about the smaller chaps!

Hi Ladies. Under the Lap Band support section I started Banded Bikers II. I had questions about road trips, rallies, etc when banded. There hasn't been much in the way of responses but we definately can use that for all bikers. We're all one family! :shade: Right Kelley? Joline good luck on the 15th. I've been surprised how easy it's been so far. I just started my 'mushie' phase for a week and then start phasing in all the other stuff. I only learned how to ride last year and unfortunately have been grounded since October due to surgery for a torn achilles tendon....but hopefully soon. I haven't bought any leathers because I didn't want to see my huge butt in chaps...lol So I'm looking forward to having some by the next winter season. Fortunately we don't have much winter here in San Antonio.

    January Bandsters???

5Jacks, I'm a 1/23 bander. I've been using liquid vitamins. Just a shot a day. Also a chewable calcium with Vitamin D added. I can tell about mid-day if I haven't taken them. I know some people just use the chewable vitamins for kids and those seem to work for them as well. Also are you getting your protein? That seems to make a difference too.

    Road to "TWOterville"

Tann, I know it's a hard road that each of us must travel but don't forget to celebrate your successes too! You've lost 126 pounds in less than a year! Would you ever have thought that possible??? That only excites me as I'm just finishing week 2 of this journey. I've found and seen on these boards that the mental game is the toughest one to beat as far as food goes. You can do it and soon those shackles will be off and you'll be a dancing fool!!

I just realized I didn't post my one week post op results. Things are going well. Pain is only where the port is under the skin. My Doctor said that would be the one that takes the longest. I was down 12 pounds but hey, a clear liquid diet will do that to you . I know that now as I add food back the true test begins. I'm looking forward to the success. I updated my ticker but I guess I'll need to add a 'current' to the stats now too. I'm down 29 since my highest weight back in October. I broke the 300 mark and that I am thrilled about.

Lauriann, I just started adding food back in yesterday. Never thought I'd be so excited to eat Malt-O-Meal...lol I'm just eating what my Doctor calls the full liquid diet for a week. Yogurt, Mash potatoes, cream soups, fat free puddings. I know I'm not getting many calories. Their main concern is protein. I'm supposed to use two scoops per day and I'm having some issues figuring out how to get it all in. I've added one scoop to smoothies and I drink that throughout the day. I guess I'll try adding both tomorrow and see. I've also been adding dry non fat milk to things before I eat them and that helps with the protein. I have my nutritionist appt next Tuesday so I know I'll have a lot of questions for her. Make sure you're taking your vitamins. I'm also taking a chewable calcium supplement each day too. I know I'm a little lack luster as far as energy goes but I'm sure it will come back as we add calories. Good luck and keep going!!

    I Need Help!!!

I just had my one week post op today. He said that when I need a fill is if I find I'm hungry more frequently or if I can eat more than I think I should or not losing weight. I completely agree with Jack. We have to win the mental game in order to beat the physical one that brought us to this point in our lives. Keep after everyone!! You can do it!!

San Antonio Texas - Dr Wright

Hi. I was banded by Dr. Carcamo on the 23rd of this month. I have my one week follow up on Tuesday. I will ask then as well, but do you know when the support group meetings are?
  13. I chose to tell quite a few people, especially at work. I think it will help with my accountability to myself. More people at work have had the bypass which I personally felt was not a healthy choice. This option is less known so if I can tell people about it and be a 'poster child' for the cause maybe then they can make the same choice to help themselves. It is a personal decision though. The good thing about the band is the loss is slower so you really don't have to tell people if you don't want to.

    immediate post op diet....help

I agree with the majority here. Follow your doctor's rules. Mine is one week of clear liquids. Week two is full liquids which includes protein shakes, mash potatoes, cottage cheese, yogurt...'slider foods', then week three on to the mushie stage. I have been ridiculously bored with the clear liquid phase but I focus on the reason why I'm doing it and the goal at the end and suddenly it's not an issue. Still boring...but not an issue...lol Hang in there and good luck with your journey!

    Chest Pains?! Help:(

I had that same feeling of pressure all around and then after day 3 it was much better. I was banded on the 23rd. I still get an occassional feeling of needing to burp and I can't. I try some deep breathing and for some reason that helps me. Maybe because I give the gas another place to move off to? lol :scared:

Thanks all for the comments. Looks like there's quite a few band bikers out there. I've been concerned about how to fit riding (trips) and banding together so any hints and tips that you have would be greatly appreciated. Hmm...maybe that's a new post to start? lol :scared:
