Just reporting in for Thursday. Had my first fill this week. Haven't been sick but seems like everything I try to eat hits that 'do not pass go' spot. The fill was on Tuesday. Does this pass after awhile? If not I may need to raise my goal because I won't be eating anything...lol Name.............................Starting……..Curre nt……..Goal……..To Go Juliegeraci.......................238............. ...... 238.................228.............10 Lapbandit.......................231............... .....231………….199.............32 Waterlily.........................300............. .......292.................264.............28 Roiansmom.....................299................. ...299.................270.............29 Libra...............................248........... .........245.................228.............17 JulieNYC........................212............... .....209.................185.............24 Elisabethsew....................282............... .....279.................264.............15 PeaCeJ............................338............. .......338.................318............20 RidinMyHDDream...........297.....................293.................281............12 Babygirl1234................... 260................ ...259.................240.............19 Leecelove70.....................228............... .....228.................200............28

Well, that was a fast four weeks. If there's anyone sitting on the fence about this decision, come on over. It's been one of the best things that's happened to me in my life. Like others have expressed before me I can't believe I waited this long to make it happen. I had my one month appt today. I'm down 15 pounds since I was banded. Yea! That makes 32 with the pre-surgery dieting. And it's been an easy journey for me so far. I had the first fill today. I aired on the cautious side today and kept it light based on what I've read here in the forums. But so far, no issues and tomorrow I'll try to get back to my diet from the past week. Trying 'new' foods and hopefully will continue without issues. I'm looking forward to continuing on down the scale. Not going to try and rush it, just want to succeed. I can truly say to myself what I've said to others 'I believe in you Tinkerbell' ...yeah, I know my name's not Tinkerbell...lol But to finally believe that this long journey can at last end in successful weight loss is the best thing ever. Well, next to my Daughter, Granddaughter and my Harley of course! Continued best wishes to all of us for success! -
I just had my first fill today. It wasn't bad. I had to do a 'crunch' while the Doctor found the port so that counts as exercise too right? lol Had clear soup for lunch and then some mash potatoes for dinner. He wanted me to try regular food tonight but I was a little leary so I'll get back on the chewing food tomorrow. He put in 1.5 today and I'm scheduled to go back in a month. He did tell me though that if I'm hungry or finding I'm eating more and not losing to call and come in sooner. I've lost 15 since my surgery, the first 12 were from the first week. I consider that still a great success because I can't tell you the last time I lost 15 pounds in any single month in my life. Oh wait, it might have been when I was on that hideous liquid diet back in the 80's. Now that was a realistic way to lose weight....NOT! I am down 32 since I started my pre-surgery dieting and I'm looking forward to a consistent slow, steady pace back down the scale. It took me at least the last 30 something years of my 45 to put it on so I'm happy with looking to getting it back off in the next year and a half or so. I hope everyone is doing well. I really appreciate everyone's willingess to share. It sure makes it easier to get through some days. :shade:

Thanks for the great idea Randy! My bike is white with black down the middle and pinstripes in the Harley orange so that would be fun to have the helmet matched to that. Hey Tracy! It's good to see you in here since you've given me some advice already! Hope to see more from you. I still don't have permission to ride yet as the foot is still recovering. However that didn't stop me from backing it out of the garage to wash it yesterday. Then I cranked it up and rode back in to the garage. An entire 5 feet! woohoo! lol I see my doctor on Thursday and hopefully will get permission soon to ride again. There was a rally in the area this weekend and gorgeous weather. It killed me to stay home. Okay, so I didn't die but I sure pouted alot. :shade:

Can You offer advice
RidinMyHDDream replied to Joeboo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I use to walk around with a 56 oz mug of water and drank at least two of those per day. But the rule of thumb I was taught was nothing 1/2 hr before or 1 hour after eating. It seems to be working and I stay full. The problem now is then remembering to drink the right amount of water when I can. I never thought that would be a problem for a wateraholic like me, but I'm learning. Remember it's a tool and it works best when we work with it! Just keep fighting the fight and it'll work for you too!! -
Molly! Welcome to Twoterville! You're doing so great! :whoo:

Since I'm just hitting a month out and this will be my first challenge, I think I'll go for the 2 pound a week goal of 16. Hmm...guess I better start my taxes too. Tax Day Challenge! I'm the same way. Won't ride without a helmet. It's tempting here in this Texas heat not to but I made a promise to my daughter that I will always wear it. Just need to find one that's not black to see if that helps with the heat. I'll have to ask my friend in College Station about her earphones. I thought her husband bought her some and she wears a full face helmet. If I find out I'll post the information here.

Edie, I know what you mean. I haven't been 'pushing' the limit for fear of that. So far, I haven't had any problems with anything I've eaten. I am looking forward to the first fill though to help me keep moving on down the scale. Every day I don't overeat I'm more thankful that my 'off button' (aka the band) is now part of my life.

Hey Randy, To me the sound of the pipes is the best music of all! And don't talk to me about age, cuz I'm there too...lol I want to take a road trip over to La Grange just so I can stop and go "ah huh huh huh huh you know what I'm talking about" Can you use earphones with the player? I figured I would just wear it in one ear so I can still hear what's going on around me.

Hi Skye, Congrats on taking the Rider's course. I had never rode alone before last year. Took the course and now I ride as often as possible, primarily to work every day and then weekend jaunts whereever. I hope you get your own Sportster. I love mine. Course everyone says I'll want a bigger bike but I'm certain that I'll have this one for a long while. I'm not sure how I'll handle the beer thing now. I've never had more than two if I'm out riding. I've always had a Water to match the beer too and it helps to even me out. However I know that my weight has allowed me the ability to drink more too. It will be interesting to see how that changes as I lose. However I remind myself when riding, it's not about the drinking, it's about the freedom of being out there on the bike. :shade: I've already decided at my 50 lb point I'll reward myself with an IPOD. That way I'll have something to sing along with. Right now, I just sing to myself...lol We were out on my first long ride to College Station and I broke into "Life is a Highway and I'm gonna ride it all night long..." No one else could hear me but I was having fun.
-
Edie, Do you have your ticker as part of your auto signature? That's where I have mine and it works okay. As to the port, my Doctor says that's the one that takes the longest to heal. I was banded on 1/23 and mine is still sensitive as well. But it's getting better so I know that soon it will just be a faint memory of pain...lol Well, let's hope... Good luck on your continued success! Congratulations on your first 14! :clap2:

Thanks for the info Randy. It would be fun to meet some fellow LBT posters like Joy and you. I'm really excited to go to ROT this year. I've been a couple of times but this will be my first time on a bike. Went in the cage before I was an owner. I'm not sure if we're coming up Thursday or Friday. Definately want to be there in time for the ride downtown. I'm sure I'll have the hang of what I can and can't tolerate by June. It's just a new way of thinking I guess. :shade:

Happy Bandiversary! That's just great! I wish you continued success as you move towards your final goal!

I'll second that! :cheer2:

Thanks Betty! I know what you mean about the heat and the need for Water. I'm making plans with friends to ride up to Amarillo for the HOG rally in May so that will probably be my first big test. I'm really looking forward to riding with less weight as time goes by, should make it even more fun that it already is. I only learned to ride last year and finally got my Harley after wanting it for a very, very long time. Unfortunately surgery on my achilles has grounded me since October. I kept putting the surgery off because it didn't hurt when I rode...lol The weight loss will help that recovery as well. May see you on the road sometime! :shade:
-
Thanks Edie! I'm hoping to be riding again by March. Had achilles tendon surgery and I've been grounded. I'm already making plans though for May ride to Texas HOG rally in Amarillo and ROT in Austin in June so I'm hopeing I have this all figured out by then. Congrats to you! I saw your picture on before and after and you look great! I can't wait to see the same changes in my own pictures!

I've been eating ground beef/turkey with stuff, green beans, eggs, cottage cheese, oatmeal, some soups, mash potatoes, peanut butter. Primarily I'm supposed to be chewing my food so whatever fits in that category and helps me get my protein for the day. Officially on Tuesday again I think I can start adding more new stuff and keep on going. I haven't tried any pasta. What kind are you eating? How's that working for you? I know that I'll need a fill to help me along the process. Right now I've not experience that 'old' full feeling. I just get another type of feeling that I've had 'enough'. Not really full but definately not hungry. Making sure that each meal lasts at least 15 mins or more helps with that. That's been tough because I've always been a fast eater.

Banded on Thursday and cried yesterday
RidinMyHDDream replied to lapband4meNOW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You'll be feeling so much better in just a week. My only remaining pain is where the port actually is located. That takes the longest to heal but it to shall pass. We have very similar goals on the weight loss journey. I wish you nothing but peace and success. It will be great!! :peace: -
Maria, thanks for the link! I will definately try the turkey meatloaf recipe! Hi Kilo, I'm maintaining my weight too. Just saw the nutritionist this week and she gently reminded me the first month is all about healing, not weight loss. She said it's typical to gain 1-5 back as you start to add foods back in. I have a followup on the 20th and hopefully will agree to a fill at that point with my doctor. I'm also going to start walking on the treadmill. I'm rehabing my foot from achilles tendon surgery so I can't run any marathons yet. Don't give up on the process! We're only at the start of the journey. If you doubt the possibilities just keep looking at the tickers from the success stories that surround us!

No Worries! I can sooo relate to the lack of calories ditziness. Man, if I wasn't already a blonde I'd make a joke...... I agree I am thrilled with the possiblities that are presented by using this band as my way in to a healthier life. I've been working a lot on the mental game. Already caught myself once just going to the fridge cuz I was bored...ahhhhhhh... At least now I have something that helps me from acting on old bad habits. Day at a time...that's all we can do. -
Hey Nella that was my date too! Congrats to you! Hope you're doing well. And a second yum to the meatloaf comment...I didn't even think about making meatloaf. Guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend

First Consult is Tomorrow!

Congratulations Tracy :first: You'll be there in no time at all! My Doctor had me do the Atkins diet in preparation for my surgery. Supposedly it helps shrink the liver and somehow that helps with the laproscopic surgery. I wish you continued success towards your goal and date!! -

Hi Diva...just to clarify, I (Carol) was on your side. Lee's comment hit me completely wrong too especially since it's on the thread that I started. I didn't comment about what she said since someone else did but now that she's apologized I don't think we need to keep bringing it up. Congratulations on your continued success! I'm looking forward to being able to say the same thing. I go for my 1 month follow up on the 20th and to discuss the first fill. I'll be needing your expert guidance since you are ahead of me in the process. Wishing all the bandsters who visit success and support each day! And being a beginning biker with almost a year I'm not quite yet bad a__, all I know is I'm really looking forward to having a smaller one...lol :shade: -

Katie, you're right that we do need to support each other regardless of the amount lost. Lee did apologize for her comments though in this stream of postings so I'm hopeful that she won't criticize again. This is a 'support' group and I know I appreciate everyone's positive comments. We are all fighting the same fight. :peace:
