For Those Who Went To Dr. Aceves...
Suzannesh replied to bnorms's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi, Ernesto the Van driver, knows all the Air Lines that people are flying in on. If he is not right there, just remember he has to go to 2 or 3 different terminals to pick everyone up. Just find a seat in the baggage area where you flew in and are picking up your bag--make sure you can see the people walking down through there so you can see Ernesto when he is looking for you. Watch he will come walking down through the baggage area with your name on a piece of paper. Ernesto is really a nice man. By the way he has already had sleeve surgery. He will drive all of you back to Mexicali which takes about 1.5 hours. It is a nice ride and it gives you a chance to get to know some of the other people who will be having surgery when you do. I know that you have a lot of feelings and emotions going on right now. This is very normal--I had all the same ones you are having. I am always out here if you need to talk or get scared. You are going to love Dr. Aceves and his entire staff. They are fabulous. I read my E-mail ever day, so send me a note if you have questions or are worried. Hugs, Suzanne -

Drinking Enough Water Everyday
Suzannesh replied to Suzannesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Nichole, You will do better each day. After awhile we sometimes forget that we STILL need to drink the right amount of Water every day. I was one of those too, now I am not. The last few weeks, I have returned to drink more water than I have for a long time. I even like the taste of water. But the Crystal Light for me really does make this a whole lot easier. Keep up the good work. Hugs, Suzanne -
Hi Everyone, I just want to make sure that you are drinking enough Water everyday. I know it is hard for you to get it all in, but you have to carry some water around with you all the time and just sip it. It is like having a job to make sure you get enough water in your body. Do the very best you can, it helps so much in your recovery. Here are 8 simple things that you might enjoy reading about how water helps our bodies. By the time you are thirsty you are already starting to become dehydrated. Keep up the good work and don't forget about drinking your water. 1.75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. this also applies to half the world population. 2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger. 3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%. 4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study. 5. Lack of water, is the # 1 trigger of daytime fatigue. 6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. 7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. 8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79% and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Hugs, Suzanne

Drinking Enough Water Everyday
Suzannesh replied to Suzannesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Boy, I hear what you are saying. I struggled when I first had weight loss surgery trying to drink Water and getting all my liquids in. What I can tell you is just do the best you can. I now look at drinking water as job that I have to do each day. It is like work and I need to work at it and remind myself to drink all the time. That is why having this tumbler with me all the time reminds me to drink. I enjoy the different flavors of Crystal Light, so that is what I am putting in the water. Give it a try. Keep doing what you are doing, I know how hard the 1st few months were, but I promise you it does get a whole lot better. Hugs, Suzanne -

Suggestions For Drinking Your Water Everyday.
Suzannesh posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone how are you doing? I have a suggestion for drinking more Water. After 3 ½ years, I found that some days I really was forgetting to drink all the water that I needed to drink each day so that my body would function like it should. It is so imperative to drink all your water each day. I don’t think you recognize all of the problems that dehydration can case you. Here are just a few: Dehydration can lead to nausea, vomiting, weakness. You can get into a vicious cycle with the loss of fluids, as the more dehydrated you get, the less you may be able to take by mouth. This may require hospitalization so that Intravenous hydration can be provided. On the scope of importance fluids are #1. It is very important not to fall behind on fluids. I stopped and thought if I had my water with me all the time and saw it sitting there, I would drink more & for me that is just what I have been doing these last few weeks. I purchased 4 really nice Tumbles. The tumbler is double walled, 22 oz. acrylic BPA free with a silicone seal on the twist off lid & to help prevent leaks. It also has an acrylic straw. This is such a great tumbler. If you want to know where I purchased it On Line it was QVC. I fill mine with water and have been mixing all kinds of flavors of Crystal Light. These tumblers are for cold drinks only. I enjoy them because I get NO condensation as the tumbler sits. So for me it has really helped me to keep drinking water all day long. Plain water works great too. You have to find what works best for you. I do understand how very hard it is after you first have had your weight loss surgery to drink all the water. It is difficult to get all the liquids down and the Protein too. I just want you to try to do the best you can. It really is like having a job & you have to work at it. If you have it with you all the time, it makes it a little easier to accomplish drinking your water. Hugs, Suzanne Sleeved 10/21/2008 Lost 105 pounds -

Help Miserable And Constipated
Suzannesh replied to ddd8704's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, You are constipated because of a lot of reasons. One being we eat a lot of Protein and that tends to constipate you. I use Miralax every day. It is NOT habit forming and I have been doing this now for 3 1/2 years. I use one cap full in a liquid--it has no taste so for me when I have a Protein Drink in the morning, I just mix a cap full in the protein drink. You can stir it with a spoon or put it in the blender. I actually get mine at costco, because I can get 3 for a great price. But any drug store sells it. I recommend that you use this ever day and you will NOT have this problem. Right now you may have to use it 2 or 3 times a day until you are no longer constipated. Take care Suzanne -

Hi, I had to smile when you said your forgot about drinking your water. That is just what I had started to do too. And the lack of water does effect us in so many ways. So this was a wake up call for me too. I just bought some new double walled plastic tumblers with lids and a straw and I now put my water and Crystal Light in the tumbler with lots of ice and I am back on track drinking more water. I hope you find something that will help you remember. I just had to make it a priority for me to get this done. Hugs, Suzanne
