    Oh you guys! help!

Lol boot, I am 39, 5'1" & 230 lbs. You really should consider taking the next step. With our height and this weight , we have BMI of 40+! that's not good for us, it will only get worse with our weight this high. I just ran into high blood pressure problems and now meds for that. Putting bodies can't handle this much weight. I am choosing the LB. I hope u r able to make a choice soon for your family and yourself!
  5. OK 2 Questions here: 1)How do u know which size u r to get? Is it based on frame size? Amount of weight to lose? Size of ur stomach? 2)What does the size mean then?

    Unsure

To give u guys some comfort- the LB is the better choice at t this point . I'm reading my 3rd book on Bariatric surgery and they all say The LB is becoming more poplar and has a far better long term outcome than the other 2 surgeries, RNy or GB! Plus, in my opinion for me, I don't want anyone touching my organs, reconnections, cutting, stapling ect. I know eventho I prob will never choose this that I can always have the LB removed if it needs to be. Plus it's the least invasive and requires the least hospital stay time afterwards. My choice is w/out a doubt, the LB! Hope that helps u too. Good luck w/ your final decision! The books in case you're interested are: GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY, Mary McGowan MD OUTPATIENT WEIGHTLOSS SURGERY, Kent Sasse MD A GUIDE TO WEIGHTLOSS SURGERY, Rhonda Hamilton MD

    CONFLICTED...My Lap Band Story...

O m gosh, your story brought tears to my eyes. I'm so sorry u had to go throughsuch an ordeal. Is the dehydration what caused her accident? I'm so sorry for you and for your friend. So are u ready to take that step toward the LB again? If u reallythink the surgery can be successful this time, I would. I'm sure your friend knew how badly you wanted that and she would want you happy! I hope I can sleep after reading this, my heart goes out to both of you. I just can't Imagine! Best of luck to your decision.

    not banded yet!

DRCS : who is that guy???? Let me at him! The easy way, there is nothing easy about this procedure, it's a head start but it takes work to see results! Let him see u struggle to get to your goal. That is definately NOT THE EASY WAY OUT! I hate it when people act like that. How msny years have u struggled already ? Tried and failed every diet out there, the right way? Let him take your place and see just EASY it is to do it and maintain it the RIGHT WAY! O o o that makes me mad!!!! Good thing I wasn't there when he told u that, I prob would have ended up in jail, and I'd b the one crying all night !

    Lap Band or Gastric Bypass

Ii am reading 2 books on this too, trying to make my own decision ... So far I have come to choose the LAGB over the LGS or the LRYGB b/c in Both of the books it states the % of weight gain back and they are higher than the LapBand. The LB is the least invasive procedure and requires less hospital stay time. It also says that because it is intended for long term maintenance reasons, the commitment by the patient is 100% or it will fail to do it's purpose. The risk factored of death are lower w/ the LB too. The Drs usually give the GB to patients who need to lose an excess amount of weight. the LRYGB is the most expensive and requires the longest hosp stay. All 3 are great but have different jobs in the body. With the LB there is no stapling, cutting, removal or reattachment procedures to your organs.I don't know if it helps you make a better decision but know know for sure which Gastric surgery I want. I would encourage u to keep reading and searching info on each type to help u make your choice. Research, research, research!!!!!! For those interested, the books I'm reading are called: 1) OUTPATIENT WEIGHT-LOSS SURGERY - by : Kent Sasse MD 2) GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY - by : Mary McGowan MD
