What works for you may not work for everyone else. I have never lied!! And I AM sharing my experience here. Thanks for proving my point and JUDGING someone else's choice!! And no people are not stupid, but as you've just shown, they can be very cruel! -
To redress or leave exposed- drain incision site?
Eyemallrt replied to AnneG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After returning home from my surgery after five days, I redressed all the incisions after a shower. By day seven I just used bandaids, then after ten nothing, except for the one under my bra strap - I may have to keep a bandaid on that one for a while so my bra doesn't rub it. -
What do I tell people?
Eyemallrt replied to DreamLife36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My coworkers don't even know I had surgery. I used my holiday time, rather than sick leave. For the month previous to my surgery, I told them I was on a diet, so that when I did begin losing weight, they would not think it was so quick. Now I am 2 weeks post op, I lost 12 lbs in the first 8 days, and nothing since, I'm afraid I may be in my first stall Oh well, the slower I lose, the less suspicion will be raised.I already feel like I could lunch with a friend and order a cream soup and not have them not notice anything different. The reason I have not told anyone but family is that I don't want to be the juicy topic in town and I also used to work for weight watchers. I don't need their opinions on how I should have lost weight instead or that I took the " easy" way out. I think for someone with a starting bmi as low as mine ( just over 30) I would face even more judgement. I am happy with my decision, and think that it will just continue to get easier and easier to keep my private life private! -

Eyemallrt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it still surgery gas at this point? How long does this extreme gas continue? I am going back to work in a couple days, I can't imagine all this burping with a client in my office! Help! -

Low carb/no carb alternative to fav foods?
Eyemallrt replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in Food and Nutrition
Instead of pasta, try putting spagetti sauce on spagetti squash. Cut the squash in half, remove seeds, rub with olive oil and spices and roast in the oven until tender. When cooked, shred with a fork. Also a good noodle replacement in soups. -
Is post op different for low bmi's compared to higher?

Other than having less weight to lose, how will the whole experience be different,if at all for a person with a lower bmi? -

Feel Dumb for Not Having 'Food Funeral'
Eyemallrt replied to loribug's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you Southernsleever! I am 3 weeks pre op and have been having the occasional food funeral. I have next to nothing for stretch marks, you've just made me realize that I almost blew that stroke of luck! -

Bmi of 31, and booked for Aug 29, I was so sure before, but now I'm having second thoughts! I'm glad to hear there are others with lower bmi's having surgery as well, makes me feel like maybe I'm not so crazy, lol. The only way I was ever able to lose and maintain weight loss was by vigorous exercise for at least an hour a day,7 times a week. That's not feasible anymore at my age, back pain, and lack of energy! So, against my families wishes, off to Mexico I go.

So I am wondering what I will need for the first few weeks after surgery. Can some one help me with a detailed list of vitamins, protein drinks, drinks, foods , OTC medications I should get? I've read that some use liquid or chewable vitamins and meds. Also I've seen some ppl talk about a protein pill? I realize that we want to get our protein from our foods as much as possible, but I think it would help to have a pill to supplement on some days, eg backup for when eating away from home. Also, I would like to know what time of day you take your vitamins. I have a hard time with them before surgery because they upset my stomach if I take them in the morning, and keep me awake if I take them at night. Thanks all for your help.

Why are some people still hungry after their surgery? I thought that you no longer produced grehlin which makes you hungry. Is this just for the first bit while on liquids only?

How long did it take you to make a decision?
Eyemallrt posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been thinking about surgery for almost a year, and researching for 2 months and thinking of booking self pay surgery in TJ in September. Just wondering how long it took everyone else to decide?
