STD didn’t pay me for my band to sleeve revision
3nuthut posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I started a new job Dec of 2017. My last successful fill was Oct 2017 but my issues started in April of 2018 that lead to the revision. My revision was on Aug 13 and I e been out for 2 weeks. It’s only for one week, but my pay is critical for me to live! The denial on my claim states that the Oct. visit was for my “Condition”. WTF? -
3 weeks now and have EXACT same thing. Tum is waking up and this is expected. It’ll get better with time.

Peirogi’s and potato pancakes are some of the things I had. -
Had my first soft food today and had a potato pierogi. I could only finish one but I felt like I ate 5. Wow, I’m super excited about how fast I will be full. I’m a band to sleeve revision so I don’t feel as frustrated with not being able to eat more (because I was starving). I did feel that way the first time I went through this process. But the more you feel satisfied with what you do eat vs what you weren’t able to eat, that’s when you star to change the mind. I used to think ‘OMG, I can’t wait until we go out to dinner so I can eat that WHOLE plate of carne asada, with an enchilada an the side. Now I just can’t wait to taste a couple bites of meat and know I’ll be just as satisfied and full. So happy to have this tool!

Bingeing with Bypass
3nuthut replied to MissLindseyR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Boy, the mind is so powerful. We’re all here going or have gone through this. It’s a learning process. You’ll be happy one minute and hell bent the next. From my own experience, learning to chew and savor your bites really does help. And that only comes from practice. I’ve spent a lifetime mindlessly eating or feeling like conquering the plate to be satisfied. I’ve gone through frustration, depression and just being pissed off. To me this is the worst addition because you HAVE to eat, so you are temped everyday, multiple times. This tool forces me to change and it is a huge change. Deciding to have surgery means I’ve needed help to stop the madness. It’s all a withdrawal/learning experience that will make you come out a healthy winner. Just chalk this up as one of those times and find a routine before it gets out of control. Everyone is here for you with great advice and tips. You got this! -
2 weeks for me. The anesthesia alone makes me exhausted. My first day back today and I’m good enough to last the whole day. But each person is different.

I take unflavored GenePro. I got it from Amazon and it’s 30 grams for a small scoop. I put it in my mug of chicken broth. You can put this in anything. I hate shakes!
-
I had my first bm day 13 post op. I didn’t worry too much since anesthesia and the fact that I’m liquids. I think I’ve taken 3 softeners since surgery. I’m day 14 post op.
-
This is when it really hits home. You are going through food withdrawals. I just had a revision from band to sleeve and I’m 14 days post and feeling the same thing, just not as intense as the first time around. Just don’t push it, please. Let the internal incision heal. I also just had my 2 week dr visit today and 6 more days until mushy to semi solids. You can do this. You’ll make it through and look back and be glad you did. Protein helps keep you full. I hate shakes and put unflavored GenePro in my broth. It’s a little scoop that has 30 grams and it really keeps you from feeling hungry. I hope this helps!

They considered it pre-existing -
Ok, so 2 hours after I had a glass of milk last night I had cramps and fever. I’ve been on the pot every 1/2 hour ever since. I’m now pooping dust but still have diarrhea cramps. Fever has gone up and down. I was doing great with liquid intake up until last night but so turned off by drinking much except water. Should I go get an iv bag for hydration? How do you know you’re dehydrated? I’m going to call dr but I know some of you have gone back to get fluids... what were you feeling to make you think you were dehydrated? Thanks guys!

I love warm tea and wanted to know for post-op if there was a favorite tea that soothed your tum. Also what what’s your preference with the temp of liquids in general?

What kind of post-op tea did you drink?

Looking fantastic girl!!! Keep it up! -
All went well. For the most part the pain feels like acid reflux??? Pop cycles help sooth the burning feeling but still there. Protein shakes is helping too. @TaylorMade4One are you still hungry? I’m kinda getting that way too.

What I’m drinking first night post-op
3nuthut posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, I thought I would share what I’m taking to the nightstand. This is my second round for theses drinks, and I have a little bit of everything depending on what goes down good through the night. Having a variety ready has helped convenience. If the broth or tea cools down, I just warm up in the microwave. I’ll replenish in the morning and change it up a bit. But for the most part, I want to have protein and vitamin drinks at the ready. I also made hubby stop by Sonic and pick up a bag of ice to munch on. The ice has helped when my tum is angry after surgery...so has the warm drinks. -

Hahaha, I feel like it. I’m sleeping in 4 hour intervals so I thought I’d make it all at once because I never know what will be good at the time. Fangs are sharp...look out! Hahaha -
Waking up from Surgery. Any Tips?
3nuthut replied to ellie123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just spent my first night in hospital recovering and I went through the same thing. I tried not to whine but the pain was so great and I just wanted them to stick to the pain med schedule until morning. Nope it didn’t happen and I felt like I had to constantly trying to justify for more pain meds. By this morning I was a wreck, with very little sleep and still in acute pain. I asked my morning nurse why it’s so hard to get my pain meds? She couldn’t believe they were lowering my dosage and gave me what the doctor prescribed. Thank God I was able to rest before hubby came to pick me up around 2pm. I know everyone is on high alert with narcotics but this was absolutely unnecessary. I felt like I wasn’t believed as far as pain (and I have a high tolerance). Very disappointed. I hope you are getting better with your pain...I think I am but it’s a slow go. -

I wanted to post this to the LapBander’s out there... Banded Dec 2012 and was doing great! I went from 230 to 138 and stayed that way with fills up to the end of 2015. Then when I got to 165 in Feb of 2018, I went in for a fill and they found that my band had slipped and I started having lower muscle esophageal problem. I’m thinking great...my BMI isn’t high enough to get the revision paid for and I don’t want to have to go through proving AGAIN, that I need a tool for managing my weight. Plus, my blood pressure is starting to go through the roof! (I’m apple shape so my fat is around my organs) The dr told me I would probably get a denial but we could appeal and do a peer to peer review. Low and behold after waiting 1 week, on the first submission, I got approved. surgery is August 13th 2018!! Eeeek!! I have United Health which has a “once a lifetime” bariatric surgery coverage ( BCBS of Texas did my band). So for all those who are thinking about a revision or band not working, I highly recommended checking into it.
