Savannah26 got a reaction from BikiniBodby30 in Upset, For Nothing
I did that once right before surgery and a couple of times afterwards. I am normally a very outgoing, happy person - we all can just have a bad day. This too shall pass. Trust me!

Thank you all and you're all right....I just need to shake out of this and get with it. It is what it is and I made the choices and they're done. Now I just have to do the needful and get it done.
mylynn, that was also my exact reason for not having bypass and yes my wife is my number #1 fan.

I bet you Jim that your wife is the President of your Fan Club and wants to know if you're having problems. As for the rest lets break this down:
You could have gotten bypass but remind yourself..why didn't you? Did you not want someone mucking about in your insides playing with your intestines, cause that is a big turn off for me...ewww. One giant reason that I don't want the bypass.
Next have you done a mental inventory of everything you are eating and drinking..everything. Even if you just took a bite of something cooking on the stove, a cracker you picked up and popped in your mouth without thinking. Is your sodium up..cause if your sodium is up but your not compensated with fluid then you will not move a scale. This is worse for women but it can seriously derail a scale for guys too.
Next...tell them (not literally) to bite you! All those people, and I have found some of this out already BEFORE being banded, feel like they have some stake in your weight loss, some of them are jealous, some of them may be tuly rooting for you. You have to figure out which and prioritize them. The people in your corner keep em, the ones that are jealous or just like drama you can use as motivation. So after you get unstuck and loose more weight you can say...yeah Ive lost such and such, lap band is slower than many other surgeries so you don't have digestive problems and loose skin, etc.
And you can always come here and rant and we will all mentally tell those people to bite us too!

I think yuo should use your co-worker comments as an opportunity to prove everyone wrong and shut them up with your success. You're not a failure, I can guarantee you that. The fact that you are taking the time out to get your emotions in check lets me know that you can be in control of this situation. Don't let other ppl discourage you!
Exercise, eat right, and make it work. Good luck!!!!

Remember this is Your journey... people are going to have something to say no matter what the situation. I regret telling the few people that I did.. there is someone on my campus who had the same WLS and she has basically given up... but for the most part, people are very supportive...of course you have the debbi downer's... those that say that I really didn't need to have surgery... I even had someone to tell me that I was going to look like a crack head... lol Don't get discouraged... stay strong!!! remember this is not a quick fix..it's a life style change that's going to take some time...

I have been banded for over three years and have told only two people - my husband and best friend. Here are my tips for eating out with others and keeping the "nosey nancy's" at bay : (1) Be very careful with what you try to eat. Avoid the bread, potatoes and other difficult food or you will need to explain why your eyes are suddenly watering, you sound like you're being strangled when you talk, or you have to lunge for the table to make it to the restroom. I tend to stick to soup or very small portions. My husband is also well trained in picking up the signs that I need a moment for a bite to pass and will fill in the conversation until I can talk again. In a pinch, I have gasped something like, "Went down the wrong pipe!" and then excused myself to go to the restroom. Fortunately, this has only happened twice. (2) Ask for a to-go box as soon as you feel comfortable and take a good portion of your food home. If you do this, it is not so obvious that you are sitting there with an almost full plate and you can eat it at home at a pace that is better for you and the band. (3) Tell people that you are a slow eater. Which is very, very true with a band. (4) Tell people you are dieting. Again very true. I tell people that as part of my diet, I have cut out things like bread and potatoes. (5) Go to the restroom during the meal, if only to walk around and let your food settle. This will give you some extra time where you are not just sitting there staring at your full plate or your dining companions. Good luck on the upcoming surgery! It was the best investment I have ever made in myself.

Definitely think about who you want to tell. I made the mistake of telling too many people. I feel like people watch me now when I'm around them and I'm eating. It's annoying. Just think about it.

for me the 3rd fill was a big boost , finally hit the green zone ! now im not hungry all the time so im not reaching for junk or eating too much because i cant eat too much ! once i fill up on protein most of my junk cravings go away. banded 11 weeks, down 22 lbs. woohoo ! aside from that i found a couple of things to do exercise wise, that i love and stick to because i love the results. for me its walking on our nature trails and taking a water fitness class 3 times a week minimum. what a workout !! also if i do have a small treat i count it as part of my daily food intake. my dr said to treat yourself occasionly , and i do ! knowing that that frozen yogurt is waiting for me makes me stick to healthy foods 95% of the time, or try weight watchers ice cream bars. or what ever makes you happy. YOU CAN DO THIS ! Now, go try a new exercise class or something and see what you end up liking . dancing , swimming , walking, zumba, weight training volleyball ? get going !

Please stop beating yourself up. I think that once you get the correct "fill", things will begin to click. This is still new to your body and you and your surgeon need to find the appropriate fill amount for you. In the meantime, I think it is a struggle not to self-sabotage. I am only 4 days post op and I can kind of see that happening already! Eat healthy and try to find healthy ways to fill you up until the band starts working effectively! Also, about walking 3 miles a day, if it is a leisurely walk, that will only burn about 150 calories at a time. We can eat right past that no problem. For exercise to be effective it has to make you sweat and be at least slightly challenging. I am not sure if you are pushing yourself or not, I just know this from my own experience.
Good luck with this, hang in there. And let me know how you do for my future reference. :-)

No worries - with enough fills you will not be able to eat too much - then you will just have to make sure you are not drinking calories in between meals. You'll be ok - and 5/6 pounds a month for a year could get you to 72 pounds in a year and 144 in 2 years - which is PERFECT pacing!

Sounds like you are in the green zone, and you are right on when you say you fill satisfied. If you are filled properly you should have a feeling of satisfaction between meals. I eat 3 meals a day and am rarely hungry between meals. You should be able to take in 2-3 oz of protein per meal. Sounds like you are on your way, look at world here you come. Katie bar the door.

The 31st must be a popular day for bands!! That's my surgery date, too! I was very fortunate and didn't start my journey until November, so things have moved along very quickly for me. I could have had my surgery at the end on December, but had a cruise scheduled this month and then needed the two weeks for the post-op diet!
