How are the June post-op folks doing!?

I was banded June 7th and it's been going pretty well! I haven't had one episode of tossing my cookies nor any nausea. I did fine with liquids (so glad to be done with them) and mushies and have segued to normal foods (define normal?). I'm cautious with everything I eat and try to stay under 1 cup of food for every meal. I've noticed that my satiation feeling has diminished so I've scheduled my first fill for August 5. PMS was rough! I was soooo hungry and unsatisfied, but luckily for only a few days. Good to know that I should prepare for that in the future. I barely lost any weight on the pre-op Optifast regimen (2 weeks) but I did start dropping pounds a week or so after surgery. I think the weight loss has slowed down or stopped, so it's probably a good time for a fill. I just started exercising more regularly and am hoping that helps the weight continue to come off (now that I got the okay to get on an exercise bike).

    Where are the Leesburg Bandsters?

I live in Leesburg and was recently banded as well. I would love to find a group to meet with (though I should warn that my schedule is hectic). I'm in Potomac Station and work in Ashburn, so I could go either place... PM me?

How did you change your mindset?

Hokdo -you are doing it for yourself. And that's not a bad thing. You are doing it because your daughter has inspired you to do it - but you want to see her grow up and live her life. You are answering the call of your soul to see her flourish - it's a great motivation. I'm single and think that now that I'm getting my health in order, I think I'm ready to take the step to be a mom - through adoption because it's truly not possible for me to have one of my own with my health conditions. It's an amazing motivator - motherhood.
  4. Like dejastar I have an overly critical family who are all skinny and most don't understand my weight problem at all. I only told 2 of my siblings, have not told my mother or my other siblings. One aunt knows, as she was my inspiration to get off my butt and get the surgery, but there are more family members who don't know vs. those who do. My closest friends know, and a few coworkers who I felt were already my at work cheerleaders and who have all been supportive (even though they are bothered at times by no rice and no pasta). I may tell more people later on, but for right now, it's a private matter and I don't need the stress from those who would be negative.
