I've been considering bariatric surgery since I was about 17. However, it wasn't really a serious option before this year. I was obese before I even knew the word, and I have been dieting almost as long. Atkins, WW, Jenny Craig, Alli, fasting, the cabbage diet.... You name it, I probably tried it. When I was looking through my coverage this year, I noticed my insurance covered bariatric surgery. I jumped on it like a two cats in heat. I can see the way my life is and was continuing towards, and I did not like it. I need help, and I can admit that. The sleeve was the only surgery I could see myself living the rest of my life with, and I am sure this is what I need to do to become healthy.

Mmmm, that sound delish. I might make that my new morning thing.

Foxbins is so right, but also the body only absorbs about 500 mg of calcium at a time so break the doses if it is going over 500 mg.

Ooh, don't forget you can also put a crust on your chicken wings with pork rinds to give a little crunch instead of break crumbs or flour.

It happens believe me, my first month I wasn't doing anything right. But each day is a new day. You can do this just take a deep breath, and start over. I am 4 months in now and I still occasionally make mistakes. -

Lol, yeah, it so weird how many bones start showing up. Be careful of bruising, you have less fat to cushion the blow.

I understand where you are coming from, really I have been considering weight loss surgery since I was about 17. However, it is a lot more difficult to have a surgeon perform any type of bariatric procedure when you are below the age of 18. I second Kayla's suggestion, talk to you Primary Care Physician first. Then I recommend calling your insurance company to see if they cover the sleeve or have your parents call. Some insurances, like mine (UHC), do not perform bariatric surgeries if you are below the age of 18. Get your information. Surf the forum. Find out all you can about the procedure. You might not be able to get it at 16, but in two more years, it might be a possibility. Be prepared.

Awesome, congrats on beginning your journey! You are never alone on this board there are so many welcoming people who are here to help you and will be with you every step of the way. I mean, right now I am in the last two months of my PSWL and I am so excited that it is almost over. We might even be sleeved around the same time! So good luck and don't ever be afraid to ask questions.

What should I start taking
wishes replied to golfbuddy98's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The multi-vitamin is paramount in my opinion. I am a horrible pill taker, wait, I WAS a horrible pill taker, but I have been taking my multi-vitamin every day for a month now, but you know what? It took me three months to get this way. Practice makes perfect. Take this time to develop good habits. Slowly start eating healthier and making better choices every day is a new day to do better by yourself. I also recommend to start taking calcium if you aren't getting a lot in your diet, and if you are trying to decrease carbs it gets a lot harder to eat the right amount of calcium. Just a note, I also take biotin and omega-3 fish oils. -
