  1. I understand that one. I have been obese my entire life. How can I see myself any other way? However, what someone else mentioned is one the best pieces of advice ever, have supportive people around you to help build your confidence and self-esteem. This is called a journey for a reason. You will be going through physical, mental, and emotional changes, but you can get through it and be the person you want to be.

    Still Awaiting Approval

It is totally okay to vent. I can't tell you how stressed I would be if I was in your place. I hope you hear from them soon, just try to stay calm.
  5. Yay! Someone else getting sleeved in September. I am getting really excited now. Hope you are doing well preparing for surgery!

  6. Awesome, that must be such a great feeling!

    Doctor's

My PCP has always been really supportive of me trying to lose weight, and she has watched me try diet after diet after diet. And when I broached the subject about WLS, she was very supportive then too. I love my PCP. I am so sad that I am going to be losing her when I move.

    before and during pics

    Wow, awesome. Congrats!
  10. Time and time again, I have heard the fat will readjust itself after you stop losing. However, I totally understand about the cookouts and family reunions. I lucked out this year because I am in Michigan for the summer. But before I have used a couple good excuses because I have had GERD for years and my family knows sometimes I just can't eat all the greasy foods, so I just fill my plate with the sides like greens, coleslaw, and biscuits and chow down. You can always get a little on your plate and make trips back up to make it look like your eating more. Also, don't be afraid to bring some of your own food like shredded chicken to the bbqs and just say you are trying to get rid of it.

    Compression Suits

Hm, I will definitely pay attention to this post. My arms are the worst problem area on my body.
  12. Congrats! The days seem to be flying by now. I hope it is here before you know it.

What made you pick VSG instead of DS?

Wow, great topic. I wish I had something substantial to add. I am 21 years old, and I can't see myself living with the DS. The surgery itself seems to work, but the side effects of the surgery like smelly, smelly loose stools, high fat diets, and malabsorption just do not appeal to me for the rest of my life. But I wish you the best luck in making a decision!

    Expecting my sleeve mid July

I understand you completely. I am 5'3" and standing at 245 pounds right now, I cut out pretty much all carbs so I don't go higher than 30g a day. AND IT WAS SO HARD, but I am glad I started two months ago. I also didn't tell anyone but my mom and boyfriend about me contemplating surgery. The rest of my family is really judgmental also, and I don't want to deal with that right now. I hope you hear back from your insurance soon and get your date! I am so excited for you, and just want you to know that whatever questions or support you have or need there is someone on this forum to help and listen.

    getting sleeved process

It just depends on the insurance company whether you have to go through a process. One of my forum friends, LeahG, only had to complete a psych eval and she was approved. It took less than two weeks for her. (Hope she gets a date soon ) And while for me, UHC requires a 6 Month Physician Supervised Weight Loss attempt. Therefore, I won't be able to submit my information to insurance until August 4th after my last 6MPSWL visit. I know it seems daunting right now, but you will get through this. It might not happen as fast as you want, but you can do this. Just start making the appointments you need, find out what your insurance wants, and find a good surgeon in your area.

    Newbie here :)

Welcome to the forum, and you are totally not alone with being a fall sleever. I am hopefully getting everything submitted to insurance on August 4th, and I want September 2nd for my date. This forum is one of the best places to commiserate, vent, and find information on what will be happening before and after surgery, so do not be afraid to ask questions. Take care and good luck on your journey!
