Looking to make the 20 somethings forum active
wishes replied to ATLGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@candaceshenea: You know I am, lol. I dying to be sleeved already, but this is for the long haul, and if my insurance covers everything then it will only 832 dollars and some cents, so it will be worth it. How are you doing in the WL department? -

6 Month Supervised Dieters
wishes replied to wishes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@420gal: Yes, I have heard that could happen, but it depends on what the requirements are for your insurance. I do not have an comorbidities and if I drop below a 40 BMI.... I am pretty sure I won't be covered. However, I don't lose weight easily, so that was never a worry for me. @Mythreechildren: Wow, that hasn't happened to me. That must have so terrifying. Thank you for sharing your story. -
That is ridiculous. I hope you get this straightened out soon. Good luck!

6 Month Supervised Dieters
wishes replied to wishes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Chimera: You really make me wonder if I have sleep apnea and just haven't been tested for it. I wake up throughout the night multiple times a night without a reason and what I wouldn't give for continuous sleep. Can you recommend the book she gave you? I would love to have a read through it. @Shea: Aw, I am so sorry, but I totally do understand how hard the process of changing your eating habits can be. I was a one meal a day kind of gal. I always forgot Breakfast, worked through lunch, and dinner was whatever I could eat in large quantities. Eating mutiple times a day and low carbing it was like some kind of torture exercise. Hey, another September! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. You know I will keep you posted. We gotta have each others backs on here. @Smoky: W00t! I will keep my fingers crossed for you too, September is going to be the month! Lol, starting a healthier lifestyle off on the right foot. Plus, it will give us a chance to impress that upon the family right away, but.... It is not going to be fun. That's for sure. I know the feeling extremely well with the exercise. I am not keeping up with my couch to 5k program very well.... my feet hurt, my ankles swell, and I always feel really tired. Saddest part? I am only 21. I do love the Kinect and dancing is one thing I can do without even thinking about it and the Kinect has some really great games for that if you enjoy dancing like Dance Central or Zumba. -
I don't know if I would trust this thing. It says I have a 27.5% body fat percentage also, and I know I put my measurements in correctly. Just my .02 cents.

HELP...Would you re-schedule?
wishes replied to wendy1974's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ew, that's a toughy. I guess for me, it would depend if my sister wanted me there or not. We are very close. If she said she needed me, I would be there and push back my surgery. If she didn't care, then I would push right on ahead and get sleeved. -

H. pylori is the bacterium that causes stomach ulcers. It is a really good thing they are taking care of this issue now. -
Good post. I will definitely try to maintain contact with my insurance throughout the process.

6 Month Supervised Dieters
wishes replied to wishes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, wow, that is awesome! I know what you mean about everyone seeming to have a 3 month or less PSWL. I always feel like I going the longest route, but I do think it has been sort of invaluable to me for learning more about why I want THIS particular surgery, how I can work it to its utmost potential, and finding support before and after surgery. Also, 11 lbs is nothing to scoff at, a loss is a loss and 5 months in I've only lost 15 lbs. Thanks, good luck to you too! -
I second Nancy's suggestion. Call your insurance, some only use the first weigh in to determine coverage. Others use just the last. Every policy is different. It is better to call and find out then lose out on six months worth of work because you didn't.

Wow, what an amazing journey. Hope you continue to have great success!

My story... thus far a 19 month journey that's just beginning!
wishes replied to Sarah E. S.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Sarah! I am so amazed and inspired by your weight loss. You have done such an amazing job. I hope to lose 30 lbs by the end of my 6 month weight loss, and I will be so happy if I do. You can totally get through the 6 months no problem. I am 5 months in, and it is really starting to go quickly now. I hope you can learn a lot from the people here on the forum and get all your questions answered. Good luck! -
I've lost 11% of my excess body weight, and I only have 1 more month left in the 6MPSWL! I am getting so excited!

Labor Day - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???
wishes replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know I am not sleeved yet, but I do have a goal for Labor Day which is three days after my surgery! It is a stretch, but I am hoping with good eating, exercising, and some help from the liquid diet before surgery I can do it! wishes..................257..................242..................227..................15 -
I always like buying a low carb dressing like balsalmic or italian and just letting the chicken marinate in the fridge overnight, and then baking it. It is always really juicy that way. I always eat italian dressing chicken thighs with things like green beans or spinach.

I really enjoy reading this forum. I am so happy to have so many great people talking about their journeys! @jcollins510: Congrats! I am really starting to get excited/impatient. Only 1 month until I submit to insurance, and two until I have surgery! -
What levels are getting checked exactly?
-
I think I agree with Nancy. It is his surgery too, and if he wants to share that, it is his prerogative. However, I know you do not want to share it, so just say you are both following the same plan and it is also helping you lose weight.
