    6 Month Diet Question

Yes, mine also goes through the bariatric service. I have heard something similar, but my surgeon's office says it can take up to 10 days.
  2. Ah, when I broke my ankle last year I couldn't use the crutches for that exact reason. It was so depressing. I can't even imagine how many things in my life will change after surgery. It is the little things. Congrats on the NSV!

    6 Month Diet Question

Yeah, my insurance UHC Choice Plus only requires 6 visits, but it is always good to check with the insurance company some require a 180 days exactly. And I can understand exactly how excited you are. I am bursting at the seems.

    6 Month Diet Question

That was more specific than my PCP, lol. She was just like what are you doing? She recommended some changes like cutting some carbs, adding more veggies, and eating multiple times a day and recorded it in her notes. Also, starting talking about walking. I've been using myfitnesspal.com religiously though so if they need that for insurance approval I have that, but it has been a walk in the park for me. Only 1 month left!

    Baby Food

Baby food is full of carbs and sugar. Therefore, it would not be something I would use.

    Attention Scale Addicts!

True, that's when I pull out my handy dandy measuring tape. When I wasn't losing inches or on the scale, then I got frustrated.
  7. Wow, you look fabulous! I just love the dress you are wearing in the last pic.

    Starting at the Very Beginning

Welcome, lady! Good luck on your journey!
  9. I've heard about the one death, but I think we need to set the record straight and have something official.

    New Sleever

Six months is not as bad as it seems, but between scheduling things, making the dietary changes, and living life.... it can go kind of speedy. I joined the forum 5 months ago, and I kind of can't believe I am only 3 weeks from submitting to insurance already, but that is life. You will get through this. Welcome to the forum.
  11. Welcome, Susie. I just wanted to say congrats on finding the forum. Everyone is so sweet here, and ready and willing to offer support and information. Ah, UHC Choice Plus, I am working with them too. Hope you don't have to go through the 6MPSWL, and that this is a quick approval for you. Good luck! Also, welcome to the Sunshine State! Where the sun never quits, lol. I hope you love it here. Just a side note from an Orlando junkie (my mom lives there so I visit a lot). The Universal Studios Annual Pass is a steal! Tons of places to walk, City Walk is pretty much free, and who says no to rollercoasters? I know the people who can answer your questions best will be ready to answer as soon as they read this, but I just wanted to chime in. Welcome again!

    Doctor appointment

Lol, I am not going to get to have fun with my PCP. I am moving.... so, I will live vicariously through you! Please keep us posted on what happens.
  13. jasleeve, I am also 5'3" and I weight 241 right now. However, I started at 257 with weight to lose where I can also still maintain my BMI over 40. It starts getting tricky for me if I go below that. I only have one co-morbidity, so I would not be eligible for surgery if I dropped below 40. I am trying to lose weight, but I have to make sure I don't lose too much. However, I definitely second the suggestion to record your food. I do that religiously, even for that bagel bite I had in the Sam's club while shopping. It is a good habit, and really lets me keep track of what I am putting in my mouth.
  14. For the first two months of my 6MPSWL, I did not try, and the scale did not move. Over the last three months, I have lost about 5 lbs a month. I hoping to round out the 6 months with 20 lbs down, and hopefully, ten down during the liquid pre-op for a total of 30 pounds.

    Getting Nervous...

Yeah, just a couple of days ago, maybe a week.... Someone posted that a 34 year old woman died from an artery being nicked during surgery. That really hit home with me as that can happen to any surgeon or any patient. I am not scared of complications or life afterward. I am a survivor. I will work with whatever life throws at me. However, I can't fight death. I am scared of dying more than anything else, but my quality of life will only decrease. I do not want to be a living vegetable, so I am going to take the chance and trust in my surgeon. But Ktkx, I can't even imagine it from your perspective. Mine is all shoulda, woulda, coulda's.... Yours is your beautiful little girl.
  16. I don't really talk about my potential surgery much with my boyfriend, not because he isn't supportive, but because he really just doesn't understand what I am working towards. He hasn't been obese his entire life and eats whatever he wants. But the one thing I love most about him is that he is there when I want to vent, he listens when I feel frustration over a stall, and he doesn't judge me. Lol, he even tries all my low carb recipes, even if they don't turn out fabulous like the quiche (I know he doesn't like eggs very much), or when the recipes turn out awesome like the pork rind fried chicken (Which he said was epic). I definitely second Ktkx's comment, dieting together really does help put you in the other's person's shoes, but that might not be for you. Maybe just exercising together or learning a little about his lifestyle will help. Good luck!
  17. First, congrats on your date and getting approval! Second, I don't know if that is true for everyone. Each insurance company is different. Some require 180 days continuously. For instance, I know my insurance wants 1 visit a month for six months. However, someone else might have one like yours. Thank you for sharing!

    APPROVED!!!

That's awesome! Congrats! I am so happy for you, and I have to say that is such a relief to hear from a fellow 6MPSWL pre-op!
  19. That's awesome. Congrats on really doing what is best for you and your health.
  20. Congrats, I like that date a lot! Lol, not just because I am submitting my paperwork to insurance, but also because you are having surgery! Good luck!

    HOW DARE SHE!!!! :P

Aw, that sucks. I am sorry.
  22. @Libbe: Congrats, only six more days until you are done! I am so excited for you, and you already have a date! How has the 6MPSWL been for you? @Sleeveme2011: Wow, you are submitting four days after I do. Oh, what a hard decision to make. Please don't let this fall by the wayside. I know you wouldn't have gone through this six month experience in trying to get approval if you didn't think you needed this surgery. @Chimera: Oh wow, thank you so much, I ordered the book today. That might be a good idea. I will have to call and ask my insurance if they cover the test. Do you know the CPT code?
  23. Woohoo! That is awesome. You are doing so amazing.
  24. Wow, go you! Congrats, I will be hoping the best for you.
