You won't believe what I have found! I now used a baby formula dispenser for my protein shake powders. You can have three different shakes in the 3 different compartments and still carry them around lightweight and hassle free. I bought two Munchkin brand dispensers for 2.50 at Walmart.

I really do understand where you are coming from, and you are so right. Your health needs to come first. Medical school is a very tough environment, and it makes even the strongest individuals break down. You need to have every advantage you can get before and during your venture. I wish you the best in your decision!

I can't offer any help, but I went through that when I first started low carb dieting. It just takes a little time to get through. You should be feeling better in the next few days though.

Well, I started classes this last Monday and I am taking Physics and Calculus. I will be having surgery September 1st. I don't work at the moment, so that is why I think I can have surgery during the semester. If you are just starting Chem and Bio, and you haven't taken any other sequences I say take a part-time semester and hold off on those too. They are pretty rigorous especially with the labs, but if you have taken the first sequences (as Chem major) I really do not recommend breaking the sequences.

Yeah, I have to tell my professors since I am going to miss class on the Friday after my surgery. I have no idea what to say.....

Aw, you can get through this. You have a wonderful silver lining. You are killing this pre-op diet! I am sorry there are people who don't think before they type, but it happens. Keep up the awesome work!

Okay, time to start the engine! I am starting the pre-op diet on the August 12th, two weeks and 6 days before surgery. Anyone have any hints or tips to get through it? Anyone want to commiserate? P.S. Do most doctors recommend dulcolax or magnesium citrate before surgery? Does doing one or the other really make a difference? P.S.S. What helped you most get through it?

Ah, I did the food funeral. Om nom nom, nachos and beer for the win last night. I think I am going to miss beer the most. But I started the liquid diet today. I am glad I am not alone on this.

My surgeon, Dr. Webb, uses a 34fr, but he does not oversew the staple line.

Haha, that sounds like my belt. I have cracks around the holes in my belt. They really don't like being stressed, lol. Can't wait to buy a new belt!

Hey MsDad, I will be 5 days ahead of you with Dr. Webb, so I will definitely keep you posted. I know this is terrifying, but neither you or I would be here if we weren't doing this for our health and happiness. At 21, this is a surgery I researched extensively for the last 9 months, and one I can spend the rest of my life with. Good luck! Keep me posted how everything goes.
