Need support..Not as big a loser as some of you...
wishes replied to janetrupp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you think you are a slow loser, I don't know you will think I am. I have lost 35 lbs in 2 and 1/2 months. I was sleeved 09/01/11. I am still losing over 10 lbs a month so I think I am doing great! Take a look at that, you have lost over 20 lbs a month since you have been sleeved! -
I signed up for a 5k. The drive to succeed motivates me to do my C25k program, and I love the Leslie Sanson videos so I like doing those when I am at home.

wishes replied to CowgirlJane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I liked the couch. I just made the boyfriend set up the pillows so I could recline a little and that worked just fine for me. -
Can you eat more during your period?
wishes replied to sunnyd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See, I am the opposite too. I get nauseous, and I have some "back end" issues. Sorry for the TMI! I normally stall because I can't eat, and I do not want to drink. -
I totally understand what you mean. I hope you hear an approval sooner than you know!

Thanks Tai! That is a great explanation of how difficult this process is, that this is for those with excess skin issues after WLS, and that insurance plans are not the same even though they have the same name. Great post!

Hello Everyone, Some of you know my mother was sleeved on November 3, 2011. Her surgery went well, and she was a textbook surgery. However, there were many problems experienced in the hospital where she received her post-operative recovery care. Many of the nurses and doctors there were not knowledgeable about the difference between the VSG and the RNY in receiving medications. My mother has chronic medical conditions for which she has been treated for years that require extended release (ER) medications. She was seen by internal medicine doctors and pharmacists alike while she was there, but none of the physicians wanted to give her the medications her body needed to maintain her health because of the mechanisms of the drugs. However, to my knowledge most of the extended release drugs are released into the system through the intestinal digestive tract, not the stomach. Our surgeon agrees with this, but nothing was done for her in the hospital, and they tried to recommend her switching to 16 pills a day rather than the 5 ER pills. I understand medical research findings are not always quickly implemented in practice, but I am appalled that my mother had to suffer because of this. Right now, I am trying to work on a letter for the staff of the hospital and the care my mother received. If anyone has any research on extended release medications or anything that might help to add the letter please let me know.

2 weeks out- missing my Tabasco!
wishes replied to SPI Tortuga's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My tongue and stomach disagreed for about 6 weeks about my spiciness level, but as of today I eat anything and everything that makes me stomach tingle. I don't know why I had to wait so long though. My tongue said yes, but my stomach burned really bad if I ate anything spicy. -
Strategies for surviving Thanksgiving??
wishes replied to Becca's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Follow the plan. I would say protein first then see what you can fit in after that. Don't deny yourself, but also look out for your health. That's what I am going to try and do. -
You look fabulous! Thank you for being such an inspiration and coming back to the forum!

Any1 else go thru the shock of how you look when you start to lose?
wishes replied to Ellie4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stand in front of the mirror at least once a week and just can't see where 70 lbs came and went. There is still so much left and that is over 70 lbs too! Crazy, I can't way to see where the rest of our journeys take us. This is such a wild ride. At least, we are being healthy and conscious now about what we are giving our bodies. -

How long does the weight loss stall last?
wishes replied to ara1973's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, regular food diet will sometimes do that, but give it a week or two. Folllow the plan and get your fluids. The scale will move again. It took three weeks for me. -
That's over 10 lbs a month! You are doing awesome! Try to stay positive.
-
See, but if you are staying low carb normally it is going the opposite way. You have to confuse your body abit.
