I need a way to keep track of the calories I am burning doing my Couch to 5k and just being active. Is the Fitbit worth buying for this purpose? For those who have Fitbit's do you like them? How do they work?

Woohoo for Tampa!

Yeah... I recommend reading 'The Fat Trap'. It is pretty eye opening. -
Another dessert recipe I tried and turned out scrumptious! 1 teaspoons vanilla extract 24 ounces of Greek yogurt 1 tsp unflavored Gelatin 3/4 cup Splenda Combine vanilla extract, Splenda, and Greek yogurt in bowl. Mix well. Add unflavored gelatin. Mix until smooth. If you have an ice cream maker, pour in all ingredients and follow ice cream maker instructions for frozen yogurt/ice cream. If you do not have an ice cream maker, place in blender. Puree for about 1 to 2 minutes of until texture is a little more liquid. Freezer for 2 to 3 hours. Remove from freezer and blend again. Pour into freeze-safe container, wait about 1 hour to set completely. Enjoy! This is a really simple and yummy recipe if you are really in the mood for a sweet frozen treat. You can even add frozen or fresh berries to make it flavored, but that will change the carb ratios.

Haha, this week it really feels like it. Between classes, work and projects. I am just not keeping up my calories. At least, my protein is still good, and you couldn't pay me to miss a vitamin. Fitbit calorie adjustment is when the fitbit accounts for daily walking activity. I normally readjust mine to 20% less than what it accounts for since previously morbidly obese individuals burn less during exercise. -
Gelatin keeps it from freezing like a rock, lol. You don't need it. Just let it sit in the fridge for a few hours before you want a serving so it is scoopable.

Protein, calories, carbs and maintaining an active lifestyle for the rest of my life? I don't want to fail.

You could actually buy a 2% or full fat greek yogurt and make frozen yogurt yourself. Better protein to carb ratios and it is soooooo cheap.

Protein Mixed With Water Or Milk
wishes replied to sillygirlmi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unsweetened Silk Almond Milk, 30 calories per cup, 1g carbohydrate as fiber, 1g protein. Win in my opinion. -
9 months post-op. Kind of hard to believe, but at this point. I have to just say I am very thankful I have my sleeve. For me, everything is normal. I eat what I want and when I want. I almost always eat Protein first. I have a glass of wine (or three) when I want to. Only word of warning is to not skip your vites. I had low Iron last blood work, and I am really trying hard to get it back up! Anemia sucks. I am still losing weight and well on my way to hitting my goal of 120 pounds, and only 3.6 lbs from my surgeon's goal of 140. I think I can lose the next 23.6 pounds by my 1 year surgiversary, but I know I am going to have to up the exercise if I really want it. I lose about 6 to 7 lbs a month right now. There have been so many scale and non-scale victories. I don't even know what to say. I wear a size small and a size 6 jeans (from a XL and 24). I don't even think about when I walk into a room if I am the fattest in there. I have soooo much room in the lecture hall seats... I can sit Indian-style! It just really makes me happy to walk across campus and not be winded and huffing and puffing, trying to catch my breath. It really meant a lot to me to see pictures of different stages post-op so I wanna make sure I post mine. Highest Weight: 271 Surgery Weight: 230 Current Weight: 143.6 *Weight Loss by Month* Month 1: 16.0 Month 2: 11.6 Month 3: 6.0 Month 4: 11.0 Month 5: 11.6 Month 6: 4.0 Month 7: 12.4 Month 8: 6.4 Month 9: 7.4 Also, I just want to say. I am not the fastest loser by any means. I have lost 86.4 pounds since surgery. Everything else pre-op. Don't get discouraged. The loss will happen.

6 Month Supervised Diet?!
wishes replied to lovealways's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had UHC, and I had to go a 6MSWL plan. Even under the same insurance, the plans can vary by employer and location. -
Looking great, lady! You look so happy!

Thank you so much everyone. I really wouldn't be where I am without all the support I was given from this forum. -
Haha, I am insane. I lose like 6 lbs a month now, but I am totally trying for 16 lbs for 4th of July. I don't know if I will make it, but I am going to at least get down 10 lbs. Exercise, water & protein for the win! I am already 2.6 lbs down. Let's do this!

Question For All You At Or Near Goal?
wishes replied to suzcomptime's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Haha... I hate the way I lose weight. It is sooooo depressing if I let it get me down. I literally plateau for 3 weeks. Yes, I said that right.... 3 weeks, then lose right after my period. It sucks. I want to scream sometimes, but you know what? I am 23 lbs to goal. I am 3 lbs to a normal BMI. I stick to my plan and the weight does come off... that one week a month. Don't let the weight loss get you down if it is slower. There is no magic time frame for this. Just keep the protein high and water coming, and you should lose. -
Less than 30, protein 80+, 600 - 800 calories.
-
I am in. Finally tally for this challenge is 15 lbs down. I weighed in at 144.0 this morning. Was short by four lbs... I will definitely be a normal BMI by the next challenge!

Exactly what SleeveDreamer said. It expands and it is very very very uncomfortable. Did I mention how uncomfortable it is? Plus, protein is your first priority.

21 Months Post Op Today
wishes replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look amazing. Congrats on a great 21 months and to the future! -
Oh yeah, I stall for about 3 weeks a month and then drop a large amount the week after my period. I hate it with a firey passion, but at least I have a routine. Don't worry about stalls too much, just stick with your plan and the weight will come off.
-
I have the same alcohol tolerance as pre-op now. It just takes a little longer to work back up. Haha, I still party. Nothing has really changed. It only happens once a month or so anyway.
-
It depends. Unjury was best for me during clears and full liquids, but now I just stick with the Premier Protein Shake. I do one every day. 30g of protein, 5g of carbs, and yummy.
-
I second avoid anything with small seeds for at least a couple of months. You really don't want that getting stuck in the staple line.
