  1. I just wanted to let you know that it is DEFINATELY worth it to convert the band to the sleeve. There is no more worrying about slipping, or leaking. The surgery was even easier then the lap band surgury. I had the lapband for 4 months and realized it was going to be a lifetime of problems. With the sleeve, most of the stretchy part of the stomach is removed so you don't have to worry about stretching it much and also you have a natural feeling of full. There is no heart attack feeling when you eat too much. I've also lost double the weight in 4 months then I lost with the band. I am so happy I made this decision.

For Anyone Debating To Convert To Sleeve

If you want to see depressing just search these forums as well. You act as if the lapband doesn't have its fair share of problems theres tons of dissapointed people on here. I was just offering my experience and leaks are VERY rare. People who are curious I was just offering them an option. I am 100% happy and have had 0 complications and so do most of the people who have had the sleeve. There's complications with everything but at least it is life long and not a contious worry if you're leaking or if it's slipped.
  4. Hi Everyone I haven't been on here for a long time. It's mainly because I've been discouraged. I'm now 9 months out and have only lost 2 pounds in the last 3 months. It's like my body has gotten used to the small amount of food that I'm eating and won't let go of anymore. I probably eat 1000-1200 calories a day. I also exercise daily but it won't budge. Is there anyone else out there who is experiencing this as well? I'm really down about it.
  5. I am just now 6 months. I have been in the 18os for over 2 months now. I have been going up and down the same 3 lbs for atleast 5-6 weeks. Has anyone stalled this long? I think that I may be at a point that my body won't let go of anymore of my weight. I'm curious to know how long you guys have stalled?

Is This Long Of Stall Normal?

Well, it's been about 3 weeks since I last posted this and I only stayed at 179 for a day. I'm still at 181 and I can't get the scale to budge only one pound up or down. I'm trying to realize that if this it and I can't lose anymore I should be happy although it's still very discouraging! Maybe I shouldn't have introduced carbs into my diet but I work out everyday and I find it hard to keep a balance. When I work out I'm definately hungrier and it's harder to control my apetite.

  9. I'm 183 and I've been in the 180s for over 1 month and a half. How long did it take you to get into the170s? or how long have you been in the 180s? I don't know if my weight loss has just completely slowed down or if this is just a hard number to break!

For Anyone Debating To Convert To Sleeve

The title of this topic was "for anyone debating to convert to the sleeve" I'm not on here to bash everyone with the band. I'm just here to help others who are thinking about converting. There are hundreds of us on the vertical sleeve talk forum who have converted and love it. If you don't like what I have to say then you don't have to read it. As stated by OTR sleever above...it has been around longer then 10 years so there is enough data to prove that it keeps the weight off longer then the band.
  13. I was banded on AUgust 2011 and had it removed in February 2012. I was then sleeved on march 14 with a weight of 240. I am now 5 months post op and currently weight 184. It's not that huge of a success but when I started with the lap band I weighed 281 so in a year I've lost almost 100 lbs with the two surgeries. I think that is why I tend to lose a little slower because I've already been losing for 7 months before thsi surgery. I couldn't have made a better decision. I am completely happy because now I feel naturally full and I don't feel like I'm having a heart attack when I eat something that will get stuck. I was scared to convert to the sleeve but now I wish I would have done it in the first place. I'm still overweight but still losing and I'm confident that I will get to my goal of 145 by my one year anniversary from the sleeve. If you have any other questions feel free to message me.

    Super Saturday Weigh In

187 that makes 3 lbs lost and the first time I didn't cheat by looking at the scale!
  19. I also had the lapband put in last year and removed this last february and sleeved in march. I only waited one month to get the sleeve done. I went on the lapband talk forum and told everyone that the sleeve was well worth it but my comments weren't welcome haha. They basically were upset that I'd even bring it up that lap bands were a failure.
  20. The sleeve is amazing. I also converted and I can tell you that you will never have to worry about a slippage again. It's basically no maintenance.

I feel totally the same as you. I always want that full feeling and that's what got me overweight in the first place. Not only does the sleeve restrict your food it seems to metabolically change your body. You can't help but to lose weight. With the band I was making poor decisions to eat junk because it was the only thing that I could comfortably eat without feeling like the food was in my throat.

For Anyone Debating To Convert To Sleeve

I had the lapband put in August and removed in Feb. I was then sleeved in March. SO the whole process took about 6 months.

For Anyone Debating To Convert To Sleeve

My doctor just came from a weight loss convention and the lastest research shows that it comes back in TRACE amounts up to the 10 years of research they have on it. The bypass is a different story as they left the part of the stomach that makes the ghrelin. Statistically, the sleeve keeps off the excess weight way longer then the lap band does.
