Ouch, thats steep. Guess the companys care more about the bottom line than about thier patients. It likely would have been easier to have the surgery done here in canada, but i don't know bout you...i would have had to motgage my house to have it done. Worse case senario, you would have to fly back down to Mexico. Although concidering how well i was treated there, its not an impossible option, if i ever need to. The Hospitla Angeles people , actually all the Mexican ppl i came into contact with went out of the thier way to take care of me and my sister.

Ive just found out the Dr i was refered to is no longer taking on new patients. I had my surgery in Mexico...If anyone can help me find a Dr in Canada, preferable in or near MAnitoba, i would really, really be greatfull.

Originally i asked my facilitator through Hospital Angeles who i would see in my area. Did they not give you a referal? Unfortunately i think the lady i found, i found by sheer luck. I just kept searching online for anyone i could find. Unfortunately she is no longer taking new patients. I think that being near toronto you should be able to find clinics near you that will do the fill. I only say that as i wasn going to orriginally go through with "slimband" which i believe is based in toronto. Sorry i couldn't be of more help. I really hope you are able to find someone.

SO...i did find a Nurse Practitioner out of Saskatoon, Sk, Canada. Checked her out, and everything seemed fine. Just went for my first fill on the 20th. Everything went really smoothly, she was very proffesional and made me feel comfortable, explainging every detail of what she was doing. I didn't feel a thing during it all, that part i like,lol..im a whimp when it comes to pain. I had gained back 13lbs of the 50 i lost...but back on track now. thank you all for your help, and suggestions...

I did write to them, they replied and said that for $5000 they would take me on as a patient. A little more than my budget will allow... Hospital Angeles in Mexico will do the fill for free i just have to get there which is about $600. If i need it i will go there. But thank you very much for your support and suggestion. I do appreciate that so many are concerned enough to try and help me.

Help!!! I had my surgery on May 16th, 2011. Im ready for my first fill. the Doctor that i was refered to has informed me she is no longer taking on new Lap Band patients. I live in Manitoba Canada. If anyone can recommend a Dr near me, please let me know. the hospital and surgical team that did my surgery know about my issue and is also looking, but i need all the help i can get. this surgery has given me huge progress toward reclaiming my life. I don't want to start slipping backwards now. to have the surgery was litereally a choice of life and death for me, I can't go back...

Yes, i did contact the Maples Surgical Center. As of last night, they emailed me back...they ahven't been accpeting new patients "for quite some time" Apparently the lap Band is not lucritive enough business up here. Thank you for the grand Forks lead though...Im more than willing to go there, Crossing the border isn't a problem...if need be i will go back to mexico. But closer to home is always nicer.

Hi there. I had my lap-band in may of this year. I went to mexico to have mine done. the facility and ppl there were fantastic, and i paid a fraction of what it would cost here in Manitoba Canada. If there are other ppl from Manitoba here, i'd love to chat, and perhaps we can support one another. I started out weighting 396lbs...and well on my way to being hospitalized and in a wheelchair. Im 38...i still have my whole life ahead of me and i wanted it back. for years i had been looking for something physical to help me. I had lost all control over my binge eating. Food is my enemy. Since i started this journey, i lost 50 lbs...sad to say ive gained 10 back. I have been waiting to get my first fill, next week. However i was informed today that the Dr is no longr taking new patients. So ive begun a search. So far ive turned up nothing. I have contacted the facility in mexico to get thier assistance. Im hoping they have a solutioin that doesn't involve a flight back to them. Although, at this point, im willing to do just about anything to ensure my sucess. And i will succeed. Even withthis snaffoo, i still would recomend to anyone to resarch the mexican surgeons and concider going there. to be honest, thier hospital, made ours look bad, in my opinion...but don't tell any hospital staff here,lol.
