My hair is falling out...anything I can do?
what2do replied to time-4-change's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, I did get some new hair growth a few months down the road after using Nioxin shampoo, conditioner and scalp therapy every time I washed my hair. Also read that Ovation Hair Therapy works the same. -
Wow what a quick reply. Thank you so much. You're an angel! Is Fairfield near Dayton or Lancaster? I'll research Fairfield too, thank you. Continued success to you!

I had my band removed in '09' due to slip. I am about to be sleeved but need to make a decision of which surgeon. I had some tests done with Dr. Curry in Cincinnati and a scope and really liked him. He approved me for the sleeve. Also had to have some tests done at the Cleveland Clinic with Dr. Schauer. He approved me for the sleeve as well. As you know we (revision) are more at risk for leaks and I cannot decide which surgeon to pick. I feel the same about each one and am pulling my hair out trying to pick. Any suggestions? Please help! Any advice will help me greatly. In advance, thank you from the bottom of my heart. The Cleveland Clinic of course is a bigger facility should there be any (God forbid) complications. The Jewish Hospital with Dr.Curry is a very small (but very nice) hospital with less chance for infection. The Cleveland Clinic is 4 hours from my home. The Jewish Hospital is 2 hours from my home.

KristeyK, Thank you for taking the time to answer my ? Yes, too bad we have a greater chance for leaks but glad it is still minimal. I am scared this time more than I thought because of that. But it's all in God's hands. Continued success to you

Becca, Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate it so much. And thank you for the well wishes Yes, they are both excellent doctors. Yes I did research the revision and with the Cleveland Clinic being so huge they have done more there. Dr Schauer with the Cleveland Clinic has done bariatric surgeries for about 15 years (If I remember correctly) and Dr. Curry has been doing bariatric surgeries for about 9yrs (again, if I remember correctly) They are both excellent and centers of excellence. Continued success to you!

Can you recommend a surgeon for me in Ohio?
what2do posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Does anyone have recommendations for a VSG surgeon in Ohio? Live in southern Ohio but I don't mind to travel for a great surgeon. Thank you very much in advance. -
Hello, I have been enjoying reading the posts on here and they sure have helped me heaps, thank you. I was wondering if anyone may give me adivce to find the best surgeon for the VSG? Of course I am scared and have some questions but right now I have gastric reflux (after lap band erosion injury) (lapband removed for almost 2 years). I want to know I have the best surgeon and that I am doing the right thing (don't want to make the reflux worse or start getting diarrhea as well). I've read on here that there are some surgeons that do this surgery a bit different. Any advice about any and everything would be helpful. Thank you in advance. All is appreciated positive or negative, encouragement or discouragement....it's all welcome. I live near Cincinnati in southern Ohio but would gladly travel to Columbus, WV, Ky, well.....anywhere for the right doctor.

Well I've been hanging out reading for a while and now.....here I am waiting for approval from insurance for VSG. Now all these questions arise again.... 1. Should I? What if something goes wrong? What if I have major stomach problems for the rest of my life because of this surgery?? (diarrhea, vomiting, etc...) 2. What about the wrinkly, saggy skin? (my skin doesn't snap back as before since I'm 51 now) 3. Will my hair grow back? 4. Does having the VSG change our labs? (blood work) Are we anemic (etc... ? 5. Wish I could lose a bit slower so I won't have to explain to everyone that I am "not sick". Only my husband knows I'm having the surgery. Thank you for taking the time to listen to me. I'd appreciate any words of encouragement or discouragement. If there is something I have not thought about or should add to my list of growing questions, feel free to let me know. It's wonderful to have this site. I appreciate everyone on here in making an informed decision for myself. Female, Age 51, 207#, 5' 3.5", need to lose 30 -40 pounds to get rid of meds Goal is to lose 72# average 5 out of 7 days acid reflux problems with occasional vomiting.

And thank you too, ILKrista, you are so right on everything here. Thank you for the good wishes and the same to you. May we do the right thing and be healthy and happy.

Thank you very much for this information. I just asked my doctor about this and he said "yes" the sleeve can cause this. I do have gastric reflux now (due to injury from lap band erosion). Well now I need to decide if I am willing to take the chance on this getting worse or maybe staying the same. ?? What to do ?? So many decisions..... I appreciate your honesty and thoughtfulness to me.
