Food Frustration
Flip Flop replied to schwanguysgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You poor think! I didn't have to follow such guidelines just liquid 2 weekd then puree 2 weeks. So, for the liquid get a good protein mix, I use ISO 100 I have all flavors. However...if you get the gourmet vanilla you can add different flavors like ANY of the Torani sugar free syrups. Also, chicken broth i use/love Swanson. You can also go online to BariatricChoice.com they have some great chicken broth that is low cal and high protein. I was told to have 100g of protein and these all helped me reach that goal. make sure you drink alot of water or Crystal light, G2 or Sobe life water zero calorie. Good Luck -
I eat a protein shake for breakfast the mix is 24g and milk is 8 so that's 32g right off the bat. Then for lunch some thin sliced deli turkey and a cheese stick that's abt 15g. Mid-day a cup of cottage cheese 28g. Dinner usually chicken that's 26g and a salad with veggies and some protein pudding for dessert that's another 30gs. I drink Sobe life water zero cal and regular water. I might throw in some fruit here and there but that's a typical day for me. Good Luck, I know you can do this because you wouldn't be on a site such as this if u weren't serious about droppin some lbs. Just tell urself u can do it and remind urself ur young u have ur whole life ahead of u

Thanx I really believe it is the mindset u have to get into. I have not had a fill I just follow what the nutritionist tells me. I told my friend the plan I eat which is 1000/1200 cal a day 100g of protein a day and at least 48 to 64 oz of water or sobe life zero cal. My friend tried this and lost 20 pounds in a month she is 49 not banded or super heavy. She only needs to lose 50 pounds to be at her goal, well 30 now haha Good Luck!

The lap band is just a TOOL not the be all end all for losing weight. Try this...eat 100g of protein and about 1200 to 1400 cal drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. You could try 1000/1200 cal but ur young and a guy so u need more cal. I;m 46, this is what I follow...I had my surgery 2 months ago and lost 40 lbs. I do exercise 5 days a week sometimes just walking 30 mins is all the exercise I do. I told my friend to follow this...she lost 20 pounds in 4 weeks, she is not banded and I have not had a fill. It is hard at first but, stick to it "Life is in session Now so live it with purpose" Good Luck!!!

Just wondering if anyone out there my have the same problem as me. I was banded mid May this year and have lost 40 pounds. I have had no fills. I feel great not too hungry and was losing weight so last week at my doc visit she said no need to fill as I'm losing just fine. OK well this week...I GAINED 4 pounds!!! I have never cheated I exercise at Curves 5 days a week. I eat 1000 to 1200 calories a day and 100 grams of protein. I can't figure this out. Except to say I was on HCTZ (a water pill) to help with my blood pressure and on Monday the doc took me off it and I have put on a pound or do a day. I'm soo afraid the weight won't stop coming back and afraid I won't get back to losing. Anyone out there have any advice?

Thanks for ur reply, It really helped. I was feeling like a failure without even cheating lol I did talk to my doc office this am, they put my back on the HCTZ half dose and half dose of my other BP med. They told me for certain it was the HCTZ causing the water gain. I got on the scale this am and was up 6 lbs. Thanks again for your kind words!

Your not starving I swear! I had my surgery in May and for the first month I was sooo hungry and I would cry when I saw fast food commercials lol BUT don't be naghty and cheat, if you do you have gone through all this for nothing. DON"T let this get the best of you! You get the best of it! Life is in session NOW!!! You did the easy work now after the surg is the hard part but stick to what the doc tells you and you will lose weight be motovated and get healthy. HANG IN THERE this too shall pass. -

Lap Band or Gastric Bypass
Flip Flop replied to DesignerDivaMA's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I chose the band or bypass. I wanted a less invasive procedure with a faster healing time. I was banded 2 months ago lost 40 pounds no fills yet. -
If you follow what the doc says...you'll be fine!
-
Hang in there!!! Don't let anyone or anything deter you from what YOU want!

I have had an amazing expirience so far. I was banded mid May 2011 and I am down 60 pounds. @0 before surg. and 40 after. If you do what the doc tells you to...all will be fine.

Has anyone kept their lap band a secret?
Flip Flop replied to amber22's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I planned to keep it a secret but, then I told my best friend and found her to be so supportive and not judgemental at all. Of course my husband and kids know but, I haven't told my mom or inlaws. I don't think they will be as supportive as my family and friend. -
