  1. I had my sleeve with Dr Garcia on may 17....you guys will love him and the nurses are so cute and gentle...I gave them some English lessons to fill in the time and help them....so if they talk Australian you can blame me haha! You are in great hands...it has been amazing for me. Good luck....contact me if you need to know anything.
  2. You have made the right decision with dr Garcia...good luck...so far I lost 2lbs a day since surgery, no pain, all healed just tiny little scratches where the surgery was...I manage a jewellery store and was back exactly one week later and now added 3 miles walking a day for 3 days. Keep us posted
  3. Gail....i did an international standards project for 8 years in Sydney australia.....I think I have some knowledge of what is and what isnt. I found my Lapland removal experience here in canada a nightmare.....no nurses to attend to anyone.., I was taking care of patients myself....it is not the nursing staff it is the system. With dr Garcia his nurses had time and. We're patient and caring the facility was spotless and cleaned thoroughly everyday....just my experience though.
  4. I had my sleeve on 17 may with dr Garcia.....brilliant is all I can say....everything for me was perfect and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have written other posts about my experience on here if you search.
  5. Well right about now I am sitting in the Marriott in Tijuana ..... who would have thought. I started this all about 11 years ago when I had the lapband put in. For about 6 of the 10 years it did its job and I managed to loose weight although had trouble maintaining. Last July 2011, I started thinking that all wasn´t good with the band - just a feeling....so I started on this road and started investigating......had my eroded lapband out on 24 January this year here in Canada. The process to then get the sleeve here was very stressful for me as I live about 4.5 hours away from the hospital and clinic and needed to attend at least once to twice a month. About a month ago I woke up one day and said to my husband, I AM GOING TO Mexico, he couldn´t believe his ears. I got on the phone - booked and here I am all done. I decided on Dr Garcia - I could never have made a better decision, the hospital was clean, the staff and nurses exceptional and right now I feel like a million bucks 3 days out. I asked Dr Garcia if he actually did anything to me - that is how good I felt. I had no issues - only positives all round. I know first hand that I would not have got this trestment in Australia or Canada in the public health system - the staff do what they can there - but there is just no comparison with how it was for me these last few days. Please feel free to contact me via this site and I will give you my email.

    May Sleeve Buddies!

I was sleeved a week ago tomorrow. I haven't got on the scales yet - I am puffy after all the IV Fluid, my body loves to hold onto that. I will give it another week then see. 21lb is excellent - good for you girl!! But.....I just realized I could put my foot cream on easier...

    Any May Sleevers Here?

Hey a trike is what I need. I bought a bike from a garage sale a few months ago and was practicing and ended up crashing really hilariously in our back alley - my husband and daughter were in hysterics. When I was young I could ride really well - guess I MUST be getting old. I am going to look into that! Thanks

    My Update

Glad you posted. The driver dropped you off at the Marriott when they picked me up. I was very lucky that I had nothing the matter after surgery - I'm not kidding, but I had been through hell with the old lap band removal in January this year - so I had done my "penance" so to speak. I knew this would be easier for me. The staff there with Dr Garcia are amazing, so sweet and patient - and the Dr himself was just so cute - I told him he didn't even do anything to me - and he really laughed - that is how I felt. Like Sharon said try to enjoy your time down there - such a colourful place and warm people.
  10. Good to know about this issue. Have to go back to work tomorrow - but I have a bathroom right next in our store so it's a few yards to dash if I need to, but will take the advice on a spare kit of knickers and pants - good thinking!! In our house we call the runs "the squirts" here, but I told my husband last night, "no more squirts for me - now I could spray paint a truck".
  11. I will be watching this Rhonda because that is me tonight pure liquid ....I am only 6 days out but didn't know if this was normal.

    Im A May Sleever!

Hope everyone is going well from this thread. Good luck to those coming up.
  13. Well I can agreed first hand having just got my sleeve last week with dr Garcia at mi hospital. This was my best ever medical experience in addition to having done Medical Quality Assurance in Australia for 6 years....knowing medical detail...never for one second did I believe I was in any situation that I was comfortable with (except all the gorgeous men hehe) the staff were caring, gentle and had time to clean your bed and room to perfection.....nothing was too much trouble.....just forget the inaccurate ideas people have, for me I would do it again in a heartbeat.
  14. I didn´t even tell my doctor I was going to come to Mexico. I am just going to give her the paperwork - and like Oregondaisy said they can do all the necessaries that any specialist would do. Good luck hope you find someone to do this for you.

    Im A May Sleever!

Thanks. I am really lucky to have had nothing the matter not even one bit nausea. The ladies were laughing at me at the hospital they thought I was a visitor and not a patient - apparently I was running up and down the hallways. I guess because I Manage a jewellery store I am used to being on my feet 8 hours a day - so my recovery was easy. I would not have made it this far without this site - makes my day!

    It Doesnt Help When....

Just to add - some fat people do too - I work with a lady that is green eyed with envy that I am going to do this - and she is on me all day to eat. I told her yesterday - maybe you should go as well. That shut her up!

    It Doesnt Help When....

My daughter was 10 today, we took her to Swiss Chalet - and I was good just had the chicken and spinach salad. But.....we had bought her some cupcakes with pink thick frosting - and I was dribbling - just had to get up and walk away, I could actually taste it - crazy!!! This is day 3 of the Protein shakes x 2 and dinner. Next Monday - Wed is the clear liquid deal - no dinners out that week!! Melissa, I am also going to Dr Garcia - but on 17th May.

    Any May Sleevers Here?

Sharon - shame we won't be there at the same time. I will add you as a friend and we can keep in touch. We speak the same "Queens English" no matter how long we have been away. Yes..... Australians speak English - correctly hahaha! I get hell here in Canada about my accent - but secretly all Canadians want to be Aussies (joking). I am tough, had 3 children all natural births, lap band 2003, removal of lap band (worst ever hospital pain/visit) this January. I have tattoos on my toes (which hurts as well). I think all pain is forgotten to be honest and it will only be for a short term. When you live with constant pain - like many people do - then it's a different matter. You will be just fine - keep asking for stuff for the pain if it get's too hard - that is what it's there for. Sandra - good luck for tomorrow xx

    Any May Sleevers Here?

Good luck to all your ladies on your way. I just said to my husband this time next Wednesday I will be in San Diego too - you are closer than me Sharon - I have butterflies and I'm excited. I love travel - being an Australian living in Canada, but I have also lived in New Mexico too - I love seeing new places and different people. I know it's surgery - but I like to be able to say - I've been there!! This has become a huge group of people - keep us posted when you can. Surgery Date: 17 May with Dr Garcia - WHOOOOO HOOOOO!!!

    Im A May Sleever!

I have read here that many of the ladies get very emotional after the surgery - all at varying stages - it apparently has to do with hormones that you release after surgery. I don't have my surgery until May 17, but I can remember when I had my lap band my moods were all over for about 4 months afterwards. Hope your feeling better soon
