Glendaaus replied to mesaucedo's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
That is great information. I will definitely make note for when the time comes - I probably have enough stomach skin for the third world (joking). -
No Freaking Way! 5 Days Until Revision!
Glendaaus replied to DanityChai's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Good luck Stephanie. I had my band out on January 24th (here in Canada), so I am off to Mexico myself on May 17. Seems like the time is going quickly - I am normally very impatient and over organized - but this time I am just going with it. Keep us posted and I am sure your in very very safe hands. PS You are also so right the peeps on this site are amazing and giving souls - who really help all of us everyday. -
Today, My Life Begins Where It Left Off...
Glendaaus replied to Mamamia59's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yep looks like I belong in this club. I just turned 51 - never ever thought I would be this age - but mostly never thought all my years of dieting and excess weight would finally catch up on me. I did 2 years ago when I was diagnosed with t2 diabetes, high bp and high cholesterol bla bla bla. I have a 10 year old as well (yes planned!) and I said to myself, "you are not going to live long enough to take care of her if you don't do something soon". So for me I am going to Mexico on 17th May - bring it on - give me back my life!! Let our journey begin! (I sound like Oprah) -
I hear that! That is the main reason for my surgery - I want to get off all the pills I take - our health is so important and it seems that a lot of people can stop or cut down meds. Congrats!!

I saw that movie - it was bad for sure. BUT.......I start my pre surgery diet on Monday and was racing around for work today and bought ..........McMaggots for lunch - didn't taste very good at all - but that will definitely be the last of that for a while. I felt revolting about 2 hours after.....live and learn!!

Heartburn Straight From Hell
Glendaaus replied to Shelly-NO-Belly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can handle milk - stir a teaspoon of bi carb into 1/4 cup of milk - stir it and drink - don't taste great - but we always used that when we were kids - and it works. I don't know if the milk is good for the stomach flu - but that is all I can think of right now. -
Drain Removal- How Painful Really?
Glendaaus replied to CHELL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had my lapband removed in January - everyone said it would be bad bla bla.....well it didn't even hurt at all - just like the other ladies said - just a weird sensation like youve been pumped up a bunch of air and they let it out all of a sudden. -
Any May Sleevers Here?
Glendaaus replied to chicagochic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 17 May with Dr Garcia. Still can't believe it's real! 10 days of 2 protein shakes and a small meal for me, the liquid only 24 hours before I think. -
Good luck!

Band To Sleeve (New Member)
Glendaaus replied to awella's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes definitely get it out sooner than later. I had a band put in - in 2002 and just removed this January 24. It was severely eroded - and had done nothing for the longest time - except make me vomit and wear all the enamel off my teeth, so I have had to have extensive dental work. I am now 4 months healed and am going to Dr Garcia in Mexico for a revision. I couldn't wait any longer here in Canada - because of my job I had to find a time to suit the company, so in 2 weeks from TODAY I will be sleeved. Good luck on your journey - like Nichole said you will find lots of us here. -
Thinking of you both, hope all went well!

Omg! Diabetes Results!
Glendaaus replied to Liberated Sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is so excellent. I really hope this is what happens to me as well.....want to get off the medications! For many of us that is what we really want - just to be healthy again. Congratulations! -
I Manage a Jewellery store and a customer came in today - and asked me what I was up to bla bla and I said I was going to Mexico have surgery - she proceeds to tell me how she HEARD about a girl who went to Mexico for breast implants - she got the doctor over the internet and when she was flying back to Canada they exploded - because they were filled with water and she died. I am sorry if that is a true story - just wondering what it has to do with weight loss surgery? mmmmm people are funny.....

Good luck ladies - please keep us posted!

I love to hear that you guys are doing this together. My husbands have always been leaner (currently one and the best yet included). I can't wait to get to a reasonable size so I can get out and enjoy life with my husband - as he has boundless energy. Good luck to you two!

Thankyou for your post - was great for me to read your review, its people like you who take the time to type all this information that makes it better for people like me!! -
I started all this in 2002. I had a lapband done in Sydney Australia (my home city) and lost about 80lb, but needed to lose more - which I never did. In about 2007 I started feeling I could eat alot more. Long story short I had a 90 percent erosion repaired on January 24 this year - I am now living in Canada. The surgeon here was going to do the vsg in June - but I heard that he was going on holidays, because it is the public health system I could be waiting forever. I decided 2 weeks ago to just do it - I had been reading for over 1 year and decided on Dr Garcia in Mx and my surgery in 17 May. Everyone keeps asking me - are you going alone? I am, whatever will be - will happen if I am alone anyhow. I prefer my husband and daughter to stay home and keep everything normal. Excited - nervous - counting the days!

How was the surgery??? How do you feel?? - I am going to Dr Garcia as a few others are in this thread......maybe you can give us some pointers or info. What you said so far was helpful - right about now anything is good! -
I am also going to Dr Garcia on 17th May. I am Australian but live in Canada. the healthcare system here (Alberta) covers the procedure - but I had an eroded lapband removed in January, and had to drive 4 hours each way to go to the doctor/hospital - it became difficult with my work to organize appointments and the driving was a pain!! Two weeks ago I said - well I can keep waiting for the "free" surgery, or I can pay the money and have it done at my convenience. My situation may be different - but my choice was definitely to go to Mexico - I am excited and confident - also, I love to fly and travel - so to me everything is an adventure.

Husband A Jerk Before And After Surgery
Glendaaus replied to jwelk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well third time very lucky for me - but I left my home country to be with the best one None of us are ever perfect and I tell everyone - marriage is the hardest job - because it is. If I had my time over again - I would never have let the other men in my life treat me like garbage - but we learn the hard way. As long as we learn! Good luck! -
Yep not long now Fatgirlslim - will be here before we know it. I feel like a kid at Christmas - just wish you could sleep and wake up and it was time!
-
Well I am 51 with a 9 year old and was told told 50 was the cut off in this province by some surgeons - going to MX on 17th May, I still feel so young - I don't think numbers matter one bit - its in your outlook. Go for it!

People are funny indeed. They think you just decided one day "oh you know I should go to Mexico for surgery" - right!!!! My mother said to me when I first started on process again - a year ago, "Glenda just diet and exercise", and I said "well that's a new concept" - just because I have lost and gained probably about 600 or more pounds over my lifetime with diet and exercise - maybe I should give it one last shot.....hahahaha!
