My surgeon said it was ok to drink carbonated drinks after 6 months. I'm hoping I can just break the habit all together. We'll see .

    Sweet things taste wrong!

Oh how weird I will tell you I tried a starbucks caramel lite frap with sugar free caramel (my doctor said it would was fine), and it tasted TERRIBLE (used to be my favorite drink). My family is hoping my taste buds have changed in their favor and that I will now love shrimp and crab now hahahahaha! I highly doubt it!

    Period question

I just received this message from Kaiser. And with the newly discovered lump (in my breast) I found I don't think it's a good idea to start any type of birth control right now, so I think I'm just gonna wait it out and see what happens...but I will say kudos to all my sleeve sisters who basically said the same thing as the experts. I LOVE THIS SITE . From Kaiser... Your periods can typically become irregular under stress. Your body is stressed by weight loss. Weight loss also changes your hormonal balance. Your periods can stop( months) or start coming more frequently( every two weeks) till you "balance" out. Because of this irregularity we recommend that our patients use 2 methods of birth control. Birth Control Avoid pregnancy for the first 12-18 months after bariatric surgery. Oral contraceptives may not be adequately absorbed and therefore may not protect you from getting pregnant after gastric bypass surgery. This is not the case for gastric sleeve or band. Please consult your gynecologist for appropriate contraception. Lynne L. Sleeve or BUST? Kaiser Options So Cal

Yayyy! I'm so happy for you girlie! You did it!
  8. What in the heck is the avatar picture??? You are soooo funny chickie. You crack me up! Luv you! YES it is a trip NOT BEING HUNGRY!!!! It's a chore eating, I swear! It's the opposite of a regular diet, because this way I HAVE TO make sure I'm eating enough LOL!!!! If you know the weight watcher system, I'm probably getting around 15 points a day at the most...and a typical skinny person on ww would have to eat at least 20 points. So my body is still in semi starvation mode, and that's why I'm not losing quickly :(. I start regular food October 7th so I'm sure I will be able to get more points in at that time, but I'm scared to eat :(...it will be like 6 weeks at that point.

  9. Hey girlie! Yes I'm SOOOOOOOOOO much better these days. I've been walking 20 minutes everyday (up and down hill at park), cleaning, washing, cooking and basically back to normal now :). I go back to work on Monday :). Did you finish your options classes this week????

  10. Doesn't it feel awesome when that happens??? Yayy! It's a terrible place to be after surgery. Regrets, pain, confusion, depression, doubt...THANK YOU JESUS THAT IS OVER :). I'm so happy for YOU!!!!

    Anxiety

Just make sure to follow the food list your doctor provides for you, and you should be fine. Remember it's very little food compared to what we are used to eating in the past. I totally feel your worry though, I start back on all regular food diet October 7th and I'm scared LOL!!! What in the world do I start with??? I'm really scared of eating meat again :crying:

Period during my surgery date, bad?

I was on the very last day of my period the day of my surgery (mostly spotting, if that)...so they gave me some special undies and a huge pad to wear during the surgery.
  16. So glad to hear you're doing well :)...I'm doing good! I'm walking 20 minutes at a time, trying not to over do it :). One more week off, then back to work on Monday.

    many AFTER questions

I could not drive for 1 week after I was released from the hospital. I was on pain meds for about 1 1/2 weeks. I was in the hospital Friday-Monday afternoon. My surgeon just said to make sure I get in at LEAST 50 grams of protein a day. I think my stomach is still a little swollen 3 weeks out, seriously. OK I'm going to be totally honest the pain was really, really BAD for me at least. It's terrible because you're supposed to sip but you don't want to because of the pain :wink1: ...swallowing a golf ball is the best description I've read yet. BUT the good news is that IT DOES GO AWAY . After 14 days I felt great!!! and pretty much back to normal :biggrin2:.
  21. 30 lbs is AWESOME! I'm still only at 10 :( but I will take it :)...I TOTALLY understand not being hungry and how it can be a total chore...keep up the great work :)
