I'm assuming you haven't had a fill yet, without the fill its really your regular stomach. The fills will help, be patient. I am six months post-op and I still get hungry, I try to eat every 2-3 hours to avoid that. Once I get hungry I can be in trouble so that's why I try to stay on the 2-3 hours....

Acceptable Protein Shakes
cgirvan replied to Golfbooboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't heard of that one. I will tell you that the one my hospital recommended was VERY expensive so I did a little research on my own. I use the Target brand of whey Protein shake it has 2g of sugar and lots of protein. I mix it with skim milk and a fruit, usually cherries because I like the flavor. The giant container is $16 and with the milk its 24 grams of protein. Works for me.... Thanks and good luck! Christy -
Hello, I am 6 months post-op, I've lost 46 pounds. BE PATIENT, the band isn't the quicky weight loss that gastric is. My regular physician put it in perspective for me 3 weeks ago for my annual physical: to lose ONE POUND in a week you have to cut 500 calories A DAY, that's either cut your food or exercise it off. So that's every day, 3500 a week in order to lose ONE POUND. I almost fell off my chair. She said 1/2 lb a week for a 40 year old woman is GREAT. On another note, I was having dinner and the waitress noticed I was taking a long time to eat, put my fork down in between bites etc... She asked me in the rest room if I had been banded, I said yes how did you know? The 5'5" 105 pound woman in front of me had been banded 6 years ago! She had not ONE SHRED of hanging skin and had weighed 290 pounds. She said the slow weight loss was the reason she had no "hangy" skin, she looked incredible! I hugged that little woman in that bathroom so tight because she was quite the inspiration! And by the way she was 50... so it can be done we just have to work at it and be patient. It's a life long commitment and the band is a TOOL not a miracle... Good luck! Christy

I am the same as B-52, my stomach gurgles and "talks" to me right after I've eaten and drank something. I think its just processing... My kids laugh at me at dinner, source of amusement..

Surgury Soon And All Posts Are Seeming So Negative
cgirvan replied to kbliss78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 6 months post-op, I've lost 46 pounds and I have had very few complications. I throw up 4-5 times a week either because I eat too fast, don't chew enough or eat something (usually meat) that just doesn't agree with me. It is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. One reminder for you, its a TOOL not a miracle. I have to map out what I eat, plan my Water and exercise. The only difference for me now is that I can't eat as much as I used too and I definitely can't eat certain foods. It's LIFE LONG commitment. I went to my regular doc 3 weeks ago, I've dropped my cholesterol 40 points and my triglycerides 100!!! She was THRILLED. The throwing up for me is a mild side effect to an opportunity to live a long, healthy life. Hope that is postive enough for you!! Good luck on your surgery... Christy -
Nothing helps me but throwing it up... the pain and discomfort is too bad to avoid it. It happens when I eat too fast or don't chew enough. I am 6 months post-op and I probably throw up 4-5 times a week. Anyone else?
