I've been overweight since I was a kid, probably from about 10 on. I've always felt limited by it and was very shy for a long time due to it. I tried sevaral diets and would lose some here and there but never had great success. Surprisingly, the best diet I ever had was having a baby! I lost 40lbs just by breast feeding! Of course as soon as that was done I gained the weight back.
So, after years of this I started discussing weight loss with a few friends. One friend had done weight watchers and had alot of success, the other had the lap band. I weighed my options and decided to look into the lap band. I went for my consultation and decided it was what I wanted to do. It took about a month to get my insurance approval and I scheduled my surgery about a month out from that.
I discussed it with several people and I was so concerned people would see it as the "easy way". No one has ever said that to me, and I will never conisider it easy. It's a forced lifestyle change. I'm looking forward to what lies ahead.
My husband, faimly and friends have been so supportive in my decision. I'm very blessed to have such love. I'm looking forward to what life has to bring me with this change, not only for myself but for my family too.
