Only 2 more days to go !!! Nervous, scared and anxious to mention a few of my feelings. I had no pre-op diet so that in itself will be a shock my first few days. I promised myself I was going to start cutting back on my own but everyday it seemed there was something I needed/wanted before it was too late and I couldn't ever have it again. That is the same way of thinking that got me in this position to begin with. I always had that last supper syndrome. I have bought all the necessary liquid foods I need for when I come home and am fully prepared and motivated to give this my all. The fact that my foot and ankle are broken is going to hold me back from exercising as soon as I would like but I don't want to rush it. I have to take it all slow so I don't throw myself into an MS exacerbation
  2. I still haven't told many people because I don't want people to start looking at me and asking for lbs lost. Somethings are better left quiet. I will eventually tell when pounds seem obvious and people are noticing .

  3. I'm starting to get nervous/scared my surgery is in 2 days and is finally seeming real. I didn't have any pre-op diet so I really want to try and watch at least tomorrow

    13 days post-op!

Hi congratulations! Why are you both having to do the injections of Lovenox? I hadn't heard of anyone doing them before. I know that they are for blood clots but was it because of problems that you had pre-surgery or just a precaution?
  5. What has happened that has made you so upset that you want to leave the site? I don't understand what you mean by It is not mentally healthy for those of us who take this really seriously and understand what it will take to reach our goals. I thought we were all giving each other the help we needed and I know that I take this board very serious as well as enjoyable. I hope everything turns out ok for you and you can find the support that we all need with such a drastic life altering change.

I love reading all of the daily adventures. This site gives us so much hope for our much healthier futures while making it easier by learning from every ones personal experiences. My date is Sept. 14th hard to believe it's only about a week away seems like it has been such a long process. I have no pre-op diet so I can't really relate to that process, but I think I will start to cut way back and drink a protein shake or two a day so I won't have such a shock after surgery. Good luck to all the Sept. Bandsters.

I was not told about the no caffeine ! : > ( Did your doc say the reason for that? I don't have a pre-op diet but am going to just try the different protein shakes so I'm prepared after my surgery on the 14th. But what is with the no caffeine that is a very difficult task for me much harder than not eating

IT might not be a pretty site but I will get my A-- up those steps no matter what. Congratulations on all your results it's a good feeling to finally be cleared and ready to go. Since he said my broken foot and ankle doesn't matter Im good to go too I think. l

My sister-in-law will be taking me because It's my right foot so I can't drive which in itself is killing me. I think I will let her take my walker up to the top then I will try and get up as far as I can with a crutch praying that they at least have railings ! Most likely will end up on my butt like you suggested by the time I get to the second flight. I WILL NOT MISS THIS APPOINTMENT !!! The hard part is going to be coming back down me and gravity don't get along. At least what ever happens on the way out I will have gotten in !! YEAH I hope your cold doesn't turn into anything worse take care and drink hot tea with lemon and honey. Good Luck

Hi everyone going tomorrow to the Md think I will be starting the Preop. Surgery the 14th. I have MS and fell the other day breaking my ankle and foot. Because of the Hurricane we had, my Mds elevator doesn't work. Not sure how I will get up 2 flights of stairs but I don't want to postpone my appt because then everything will probably be pushed further and I want this over so I can get on my way to a healthier me. Luckily he said the breaks won't postpone the surgery as long as I can make my appt. UGH !

    is it worth it?

I see you actually lost weight before even starting your pre-op diet. very impressed ! I go to the Dr on the 1st and my surgery is the 14th so he will probably start me around then but so far he hasn't said anything. I haven't weighed myself so it will be interesting to see what I have gained , shocked if I lost. You're doing great hope I can do it.
  13. Went to see my own Dr. and he got the hosp xrays and found I actually have 2 separate fractures hope this doesn't affect my surgery date :(

Welcome to the Sept Bandsters. Why were they telling you that you won't qualify? Luckily you found an understanding md. Less weight is definitely easier on your health and stamina at every age. Our dates are pretty close so we can take this journey together, GOOD LUCK! [quote name='Corrigan' timestamp='1314235641' post='1656298'] After 10 years of being told I wouldn't qualify, a new doctor decided the Lapband would be a good thing! I don't think my weight is too much of a problem, but diabetes and sleep apnea are, so on Sept. 12, I'll be joining all you banders. Cedars-Siani took less than two months from first interview to the procedure. That includes seven visits to see all sorts of specialists and about two thousand miles of travel. I've already lost 12 pounds in anticipation. I've made up my mind, after all the time and effort all these folks have put in, no way in hell I'm not going to finish this program. Best of luck to all the rest of you. It's going to an exciting journey!

I finally got my date yesterday and am joining the Sept. Bandsters!! Scheduled for the 14th so far. I haven't heard anything yet about my shrinking liver diet. Not sure if it is 1or 2 weeks or if I have one. It has been such a long process sometimes thinking it wasn't going to happen at all. Now I can actually start getting the different foods together that I will need after surgery. Basically finding a decent tasting protein drink that can be mixed with different fruits to keep it interesting. Is anyone else getting there shopping lists together so we can share some thoughts on foods to eat (drink). Think I will start practicing eating V E R Y S L O W L Y. That won't be quite as hard as not being able to drink with meals. I drink about 3 glasses of water every time I eat . Good Luck to The Sept Bandsters Group
  16. This morning started out bad I was out walking my dog and I fell fracturing my ankle and taking out a chip, but things got better ..Yeah I finally got a surgery date Sept 14th.

  17. My MD said he does the endoscopy so he can be sure I have no obstructions and he can tell ahead of time if I have a Hiatal Hernia (which I did) then he will take care of that at the same time. Very upset though that he is going away for a couple of weeks so that is screwing all the dates up. Sometimes I think this will never happen. : ^ (

  18. Finally had my Endoscopy today. Hoping to get a surgery date by the end of the week. My question is how do you deal with large pills after surgery. I was told to take Tums in place of Calcium pills but I have a prescription pill that is about the size of the Calcium tablets and what about fish supplements mine are huge! If anyone has had similar problems I would appreciate your input. Thanks
  19. Thank you I definitely will check it out. I'm so disappointed talked to my MD today and he can't get me in until Sept. This has been such a long process !
  20. I finally got an endoscopy date and it is Wed. So excited last step before surgery. My surgeon called today and said he couldn't do it for a few weeks so I called my own Dr. and got an appt. Also got a name of another Bariatric Dr if the one I have has any other delays

You look fantastic ! That's my big concern...what if when I lose the weight I still have to stay covered because of excess skin. My insurance won't pay and I can't afford it. So happy for you. You are doing great and look super.
  22. Congratulations 1 month and your ready for surgery. I have been fighting this process since April getting very discouraged. It seems it has been one delay after another. Again congratulations and good luck !!!

    not banded yet!

Too bad he's picking on his sister but better her than you ! Good luck tomorrow quote name='Amy1706' timestamp='1312757383' post='1649604'] Ok Ladies I have sice emailed with that guy and I asked him his problem and why he was being sooo hateful and I have fiured out that he has a crush on me and he likes bigger women who self esteem is low.... a bit of a control freak I think...he also was recently put on medication for Anger issues and his sister posted something on facebook that makes me think he has moved on to being mean to her sice he can't get a rise out of me makes me feel bad for her even though I am glad I am not his punching bag...... My new dr appointment is tomorrow I got my fishing weights out today....yes I did because even though I have been eating like a true cow I have only gained 2 lbs now if I wanted to lose weight I gain more then that you know what I mean I think my body is at a comfy weight I am uncomfortable in my own skin when I look in the mirror I still see a thin me but when I put on my cloths or in photos it is way different! Ggrrrrrrrrrrrr.................. I have also noticed since I have gained all this weight my feet are all jacked up my heels are cracked and dry they are nasty so I have been giving myself pedicures and no matter how much dead skin I get off they are still cracked so I started researching it and I found that I could use a fine Micro-plane cheese grater and that does the trick you just have to be careful not to take to much off like I did now my feel are super smooth and soft and hurt!!!! so it works great just don't go crazy with it like I did!
  24. Wow that is FANTASTIC ! I am going to go thru my containers of smaller clothes as soon as I can ever pin my Dr down to a date. Getting very frustrated.

  25. Since after surgery we have to take very little bites and food must be well chewed before swallowing, how do we get large pills down? Some of my medications are very large, like calcium and fish oil, to mention a couple. My prescription meds aren't bad but I don't want to give up my supplements because after the surgery I think they will be needed more than ever. Anybody have this problem or know how to handle it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
