    Sept 2011 bandsters

I was done on the 14th of Sept and don't get my first fill until Nov 8th that's almost 2 months after. It seems like such a long time because I'm starting to get really hungry and I need to be tightened because I could really eat if I let myself. The protein shakes really aren't cutting it anymore they actually used to keep me satisfied but today I thought I would lose my mind. I had a piece of steak for dinner a few veggies and mashed potatoes real food !!! I now feel so guilty it just wasn't worth eat. I could have kept on eating I wasn't getting full and of course without a fill there was no problem getting it down all thou I did chew chew chew to get in practice. Anyone have an idea for a fast high protein snack for between meals? I know we are just supposed to have our 3 meals and never anything in between but that might just be my Md.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

Amazing how many different posts I just read and can relate too ! One thing I noticed though is that it seems most have lost quite a bit of weight. I have only lost 13 since my surgery ( 9/14 ) Could you let me know if the big Sept. losers had a pre-op diet? I had none and am hoping that is why my loss is much lower than the 20 - 30 lbs some are having. I also am chewing gum against my Drs. orders some things are hard to break. Giving up the caffeine and diet soda I thought would kill me. I need at least to hold on to one bad habit. Not drinking with food has been very hard to stop because I drank water through my meals constantly it's who I am. I am still drinking a little with my meals because since I haven't had a fill everything is going straight thru anyway so I figure whats a little water gonna do. I will stop that when I get my fill on Nov. 8th. Just got back from a weeks vacation and lost 3 lbs which is unusual because vacations always meant YEAH food, food and more food !! I did have some (several glasses) wine and with a total of only 400-500 calories in my stomach it can be some trip. Good luck to all Sept Bandsters
  3. Just got back from a week vacation and lost 3 pounds ! It is getting harder I'm really hungry but don't get my first fill until Nov.8th. :(

  4. Is it possible to still have gas pains 2 weeks after surgery? I have this pain in the left side of my stomach. Could it still be gas?

  5. This is my new philosophy and how true for all of us on this new and exciting yet unknown journey "When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge."

  6. I was banded on the 14th and still have the shoulder pain. Any one know how long that lasts? I never have used any of the pain meds since leaving hosp only pain I've really had is the Left shoulder and at times it won't let up !Never had the diarrhea either my problem is not going much at all. Isn't it amazing how so many people can have the same surgery yet have such different experiences?
  7. Congratulation with this new part of your life. You have done so good already ! 36 lbs down!! Just be prepared for the gas pains and possible weight gain of a few pounds. That is all typical and not to discourage you. GOOD LUCK

I actually get a sharp pain in my left shoulder sometimes when drinking. Think maybe I'm drinking to fast, I'm slowing down but how slow can you drink water? I had surgery on Sept 12th. My MD says I can start solids on Oct. 8th so I guess pureed is OK now. I was just there but forgot to ask and the're gone now for the weekend. I got this great book for my Kindle and am getting anxious to try some recipes but want to be sure I don't screw anything up. In the book this woman had the Lap Band in 2003 and explains every recipe for what surgery you had. Informative book and in the book she starts the pureed at 1 week but has quite a few that are not recommended for bandsters till week 4. Any one tried different foods yet? The book is Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery I noticed a few others mentioned on here too. It's so nice that people are realizing how many are having this type of surgery and are helping us make it easier for us to travel this Fantastic, Whirlwind of a Journey on our way to a New Healthy Lifestyle.
  11. OK here I go ! I had no pre-op diet so no fast weight loss. I am one week out of surgery and am not hungry. I have so many questions to ask my MD on my first visit. Would like to get one answer here now though if possible. They all say that the band has no fill at surgery so what is making me not hungry? I don't think I will have much in the line of weight loss because even thou I'm getting in the Protein I'm only getting a total of maybe 580-700 calories a day. I do know that your body will not lose if it thinks your starving. Does anyone have some good examples of what they have lost if anything because I also know some have gained? Am I not hungry because it is all in my head and because I had the surgery I'm having a placebo effect? I hope not because that won't last till my first fill in a month. Please help

    Y aren't I hungry?

8 lbs is great congratulations !! I was done on the 14th as well and I had to go to my MD today and am only down 3, I was hoping for a bigger number.
  13. Welcome I was banded on the 14 th so I guess we can go on this wild ride together.
  14. Glad you mentioned the card. I have never heard of it and am going to the MD tomorrow and I will ask him then. Didn't get it with my initial packet or at the hospital nor did my MD mention it. IT was funny that I just read this because I was just mentioning the other day that I wish they gave you something to be able to get cheaper rates or allow you to order from the kids menu. Thanks again!
  15. Wow a week tomorrow and I feel great. The starving feeling comes and goes but water or a cup of Broth takes it away. Can't wait to see when I go for my appoint. Thurs. if I lost or not.

  16. My doc says no caffeine and I had my surgery on the 14th. I never drank coffee for the caffeine kick because I never got it but just didn't like the taste of straight decaf. so I always drank 1/2 decaf 1/2 caffeine . Luckily since the surgery my taste buds must have changed because I actually enjoy straight decaf as long as it is from Dunkin Donuts. I am having terrible with drawl thou because of no caffeine and no artificial sweeteners from my diet coke. As of today my headache is there but not too bad. So glad to get those things out of my system I have been trying for years and couldn't do it amazing what you can do when forced !
  17. Haven't been hungry since the surgery but that just all changed. I am starving my stomach is growling and I can't stop thinking of food!

  18. Has anyone heard whether or not we can have decalf coffee?

  19. Thanks to all. I was given all the info about what I should be drinking , when and how much. Before surgery I got everything in and knew EXACTLY what I should do. It just seems that when I got home I went brain-dead ! I know I'm not drinking as much as I should but am going to try an increase all liquids. What is the amount of liquids at a meal such as broth do you drink at one sitting?
  20. I understand how you feel. I was banded on Wed. and feel sort of lost myself. Besides the surgery my foot and ankle are fractured and I have Multiple Sclerosis. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I just feel confused about what to do and eat. I have tons of information to read but I don't get all of it. I am supposed to drink up to 64 ozs a day but I'm also supposed to drink slow....How do I get that much down drinking slow with 30 min in between? I thought liquids went right down so whats the problem with drinking normal? I think once I can start walking again and be able to get back to my semi-normal life I won't feel so low. I would appreciate any of your daily menus from day 3 on just to help me get started because I'm not thinking real clear on my own right now. Really hard to explain. I have no pain and actually besides the one gas pain that is hanging around my left shoulder and very little tenderness depending on how I have to move because of my foot I wouldn't even know I had it done. Any help on meals would be appreciated.
  21. I had to stay over and got home around 10:00 this morning. Gas pains are tolerable just trying to decide what to drink. I'm also very tired and not quite with it and not sure why.

  22. Any one know of a portable good tasting Protein drink to keep in car or purse for emergencies

  23. Tomorrow is the day (14th) very nervous and anxious

My surgery is the 14th as well with a 2 day stay. Didn't have to do the clear liquids just nothing after midnight. I have to be at the hospital 9:20 with an 11:20 surgery. Strange times!? Good luck. September Bandsters are moving right along.

Glad I'm not the only one with second thoughts. I have been so desperate to have this done for over 8 months and now that it is here I am getting so nervous. I know this is what I want so I wish I could get my heart to agree with my mind. I need this and want it so bad but am really getting scared.
