  1. My band is 11 cc. And after almost a week I don't feel any restriction still so I guess I answered my own question I'm going to give it a few more weeks but if I don't see any weight loss I think I'll get another fill
  2. Hey guys so today I'm one month post op and I went for a fill. All together I have lost 16 lbs but felt no restriction with bam and was starving all the time. Today I went for the fill and my surgeon did 5.5ccs to me this is a lot?!? Is this the normal starting point for a first fill??
  3. Wow some of these surgeon are not empathetic at all!! My surgeon is my to go guy I've been with him for almost a year because I had to get my appendix and gallbladder out before I was banded I've seen him at least 2-3 times a month since January so maybe because e knows me and my body he knows what I can take. I am a month out and am stuck at this weight I mean I'm happy I'm not gaining but come on I want to see some pounds rolling off I'm doing my part. I actually don't think this is tight enough for me but I'm going to give it some time and see. Have faith and you will get through this and f you're having problems consult with another lap band surgeon.
  4. SO I'm officially banded!! Not feeling to hott at all I feel so full from even the slightest amount of Water... Which I've only been allowed 30ml (medicine cup) of water one time per hour. I did just go for the Xray and the barium swallow and had to drink the contrast an I'm feelig like I have to throw up. I'm getting zofran and not vicodin instead of iv morphine. I'm more sore than in actual pain. My surgeon said that everything went well and it was a 2 hour procedure with a hiatal hernia repair. I think maybe day 4 an I'll feel a bunch better and getting home in my own environment will be great! If anyone had questions or thinks they know apmthog that will help with the first few days please feel free Lb love J
  5. So tomorrow at 9:15 is the start to the new rest of my life. After years of being over weight and goig threw 3 surgeries and complications over the past 5 months, the day is finally here. I'm super excited but so nervous about what's goig to happen and how this change is going to affect my life!! Is there anything that you needed after the surgery that no one told you?!? I think I have everything I may need but I'm not 100% sure.
  6. So it's day 9 I have been feeling great, a little sore but much better. I have been drinking drinking drinking!!! I have lost 16 lbs. In 9 days. I woke up this morning so tired and weak buy I got up and made a shake and drank my fluids. I Took a shower to wake me up and my eyes couldn't see even with glasses, I had a migrane, dizzy and shaky. Me being a self diagnoser I knew I was dehydrated. I got down on myself and wasn't sure I I should call dr. Office well I did and they were on lunch so I went to er. They confirmed my diagnosis and my surgeon happened to be here and said it's common and as much as I'm drinking the weight coming off is so drastic my body can't keep up. Im so glad I listened to my body and didn't brush it off.... Iv fluids are running now and I should be better!! I have to keep reminding myself this will all be worth it
  7. Hi Sheila, Today is day 8 in the post op world. The first few days were hard but as the week went on it got much easier. I am still really sore around my stomach especially the port site. But that's a given when you're cut open and have stitches! I'm super hungry all the time but have figured out what to eat/ drink and when to satisfy my cravings. I do not have a fill yet so I'm sure that will help. The diet was very hard for me because I was so hungry, but I stuck to it as well as I could I did however start some of the new foods a day early. I feel if I'm eating slow and small amounts and my body takes it then I'm okay. Every person is different though. My surgeon had me on Clear liquids with Protein shake till day 6 I did start pudding day 5 because i was hungry. This week is creamed Soups pudding Jello. I have started yogurt and cottage cheese too. It all depends on you your surgeon , he told me to do what my body said!! I'm very glad I did it, it made me see a whole new light and way of eating. I'm not going to lie though the first few days I had regret because of the pain and the new idea of not being able to eat anything!!! Good luck to you and if you have more questions please ask!!! J
  8. Just like you I was in this same situation a week ago tomorrow! I was nervous excited curious a whole bunch of emotions! I'll tell you I thought I knew what to expect and I was prepared for it but I wasn't. The day in the hospital was not so bad because it wa fresh and I got iv pain meds every four hours, they will make you walk and sit in the chair to help you get going. On thing I can suggest is toothbrush and paste my mouth was so dry! The day I got home I slept most of the day, but day two I rethought my decision and was miserable. Day three and four were no better bit day 5 it was so much better I felt better and could tolerate things more!! It's a process and a huge change but being positive can get you through anything. I am down 12 lbs so it's so worth it. Good luck to you and your journey you will do great!!

    liquid diet

My surgeon told me no chewing gum because of the air you consume when chewing and can cause to get inside band and stretch it.
  10. I was banded on July 19, no pre op diet. I am entering the full liquid diets on Monday but so far I have lost 11 lbs in 5 days!!!
  11. Jsrodgers

    liquid diet

I hear you I am day 5 and felt that way day 2. My surgeon told me to try and stick with the diet but he said it all depends on your body and band and what you can handle. I started sugar free jello on day 3 and today I am starting yogurt and sugar free pudding. Im tolerating things okay I'm down 10 lbs , so I guess hang on and it will get better!!
  12. I was banded Tuesday and I am starving too I find gaging down the protein shake hard but I've been doing that as much as I can. I also had some sugar free jello and today I can eat yogurt!! It definitely is a struggle but you can do it!!

    STRUGGLING.

Erica, I am also day 5 and I am 23 I have also been sitting at home feeling hungry and regret. Yesterday morning I woke up and felt like a new women but last night I was so weak and tired I could barley move!! I feel the same way you do trust me but were only day 5 and it will get better. Tomorrow I can eat yogurt and forthat I am so excited I just keep trying to stay busy, browsing online for new clothes I will fit in, reading magazines even calling up a relative an go for a short ride. It does suck right now I 100%agree with you but the benifets much out weigh the negatives and our growlig stomachs right now! Good luck and stay strong Lb love J
  14. So today is day 4 and I feel like a new women!! The soreness is still there but tolerable. The hungry gargling feelig has subsided and I can not tolerate my required liquids so much better. I got on the scale and I have dropped 7 lbs since the morning of surgery!! I'm goi to continue to keep moving and sit up but sleeping has been a big help in healing for me. Good luck to all banders and to all this who have been sick too I hope today is your day!! Lb love J

Day one with the lap band

Well I'm at the end of day three and boy do I feel a lot better I just took a hot shower and walked around. I have been drinking all day and although it's not doing the trick I know that I need to do it. I did have a diet sugar free Jello today as well as a popsicle and they were delicious. The gargling sounds have past since I had been moving around and passing gas. Like I had said it's my time of the month and I usually have really bad menstrul cycles and I think just having that on top of all this is not helping the situation at all. I've ha numerous family member call and see how I'm doing which is nice to hear when I'm feeling down!! @Jmj good for you for booking your vacation and yes I agree with you thinking about the way you will look supersedes how you feel at this very moment. I am getting married next October and all I can think of is how great I will look in my wedding dress!! Thank you for everyone who has wrote here today I can't tell you how much it means to me to have others in the same situation and who can talk about what's goig on!! Just think tomorrows a new day Lb love J

  24. I just hot Woken up this morning for vital signs. It was a rough night!! I had surgery at 9:15 it took 3 hours and I was in a hospital room by 1-2 ish. I was somewhat out of it until 3 then I got up to use bathroom and sit in chair for an hour. I can only drink 1 of the small medicine cups 30cc an hour. I have been tolerating it well but get full easily from that. I am very sore and feel sick and undone pain from co2. I got up and walked and sat up for an hour last night. I did need pain medicine about every 4-5 hours. The worst part was my room mate waking me up every 30 minutes whining in pain. I received my packet from surgeon on what my diet should be it's not too bad, I'm waiting for him to come access me then I go for an crayon and the swallow once that's done I should be good to go!! Oveall I feel like this was worth it already!! Good luck to those no matter what part you're into getting surgery. I will keep everyone posted. Lb love J
  25. It's good to have someone who is going to be going threw the exact same thing!! I have had a appendectomy an gallbladder removal in feb. Than march. If it's anythig like the gallbladder which my surgeon says it will then we will be good to go!! But with every person and every surgery is different!! Luckily I did NOT have to do a pre op diet! I see that the majority did though and wonder if I should have asked the pros and cons of not doing it. Just think tomorrow is the start of a brand new journey. I will be keeping posted of what's goig on. Good luck to you hoppy everything goes great...
