Jsrodgers replied to Jsrodgers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My band is 11 cc. And after almost a week I don't feel any restriction still so I guess I answered my own question I'm going to give it a few more weeks but if I don't see any weight loss I think I'll get another fill -
First fill One month post op 5.5cc

Wow some of these surgeon are not empathetic at all!! My surgeon is my to go guy I've been with him for almost a year because I had to get my appendix and gallbladder out before I was banded I've seen him at least 2-3 times a month since January so maybe because e knows me and my body he knows what I can take. I am a month out and am stuck at this weight I mean I'm happy I'm not gaining but come on I want to see some pounds rolling off I'm doing my part. I actually don't think this is tight enough for me but I'm going to give it some time and see. Have faith and you will get through this and f you're having problems consult with another lap band surgeon. -

Day 9 post back in the hospital :(
Jsrodgers posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So it's day 9 I have been feeling great, a little sore but much better. I have been drinking drinking drinking!!! I have lost 16 lbs. In 9 days. I woke up this morning so tired and weak buy I got up and made a shake and drank my fluids. I Took a shower to wake me up and my eyes couldn't see even with glasses, I had a migrane, dizzy and shaky. Me being a self diagnoser I knew I was dehydrated. I got down on myself and wasn't sure I I should call dr. Office well I did and they were on lunch so I went to er. They confirmed my diagnosis and my surgeon happened to be here and said it's common and as much as I'm drinking the weight coming off is so drastic my body can't keep up. Im so glad I listened to my body and didn't brush it off.... Iv fluids are running now and I should be better!! I have to keep reminding myself this will all be worth it -
Tomorrows the day!! Super excited/ nervous
Jsrodgers replied to Jsrodgers's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Sheila, Today is day 8 in the post op world. The first few days were hard but as the week went on it got much easier. I am still really sore around my stomach especially the port site. But that's a given when you're cut open and have stitches! I'm super hungry all the time but have figured out what to eat/ drink and when to satisfy my cravings. I do not have a fill yet so I'm sure that will help. The diet was very hard for me because I was so hungry, but I stuck to it as well as I could I did however start some of the new foods a day early. I feel if I'm eating slow and small amounts and my body takes it then I'm okay. Every person is different though. My surgeon had me on Clear liquids with Protein shake till day 6 I did start pudding day 5 because i was hungry. This week is creamed Soups pudding Jello. I have started yogurt and cottage cheese too. It all depends on you your surgeon , he told me to do what my body said!! I'm very glad I did it, it made me see a whole new light and way of eating. I'm not going to lie though the first few days I had regret because of the pain and the new idea of not being able to eat anything!!! Good luck to you and if you have more questions please ask!!! J -
My Lap-Band Journey Begins Tomorrow
Jsrodgers replied to bandedee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just like you I was in this same situation a week ago tomorrow! I was nervous excited curious a whole bunch of emotions! I'll tell you I thought I knew what to expect and I was prepared for it but I wasn't. The day in the hospital was not so bad because it wa fresh and I got iv pain meds every four hours, they will make you walk and sit in the chair to help you get going. On thing I can suggest is toothbrush and paste my mouth was so dry! The day I got home I slept most of the day, but day two I rethought my decision and was miserable. Day three and four were no better bit day 5 it was so much better I felt better and could tolerate things more!! It's a process and a huge change but being positive can get you through anything. I am down 12 lbs so it's so worth it. Good luck to you and your journey you will do great!! -
My surgeon told me no chewing gum because of the air you consume when chewing and can cause to get inside band and stretch it.

July 2011 Bandsters-weight lost so far
Jsrodgers replied to CurlyDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on July 19, no pre op diet. I am entering the full liquid diets on Monday but so far I have lost 11 lbs in 5 days!!! -
I hear you I am day 5 and felt that way day 2. My surgeon told me to try and stick with the diet but he said it all depends on your body and band and what you can handle. I started sugar free jello on day 3 and today I am starting yogurt and sugar free pudding. Im tolerating things okay I'm down 10 lbs , so I guess hang on and it will get better!!

Banded Wednesday and I'm STARVING ova' here!..lol..
Jsrodgers replied to 14isabella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Tuesday and I am starving too I find gaging down the protein shake hard but I've been doing that as much as I can. I also had some sugar free jello and today I can eat yogurt!! It definitely is a struggle but you can do it!! -
Erica, I am also day 5 and I am 23 I have also been sitting at home feeling hungry and regret. Yesterday morning I woke up and felt like a new women but last night I was so weak and tired I could barley move!! I feel the same way you do trust me but were only day 5 and it will get better. Tomorrow I can eat yogurt and forthat I am so excited I just keep trying to stay busy, browsing online for new clothes I will fit in, reading magazines even calling up a relative an go for a short ride. It does suck right now I 100%agree with you but the benifets much out weigh the negatives and our growlig stomachs right now! Good luck and stay strong Lb love J

So today is day 4 and I feel like a new women!! The soreness is still there but tolerable. The hungry gargling feelig has subsided and I can not tolerate my required liquids so much better. I got on the scale and I have dropped 7 lbs since the morning of surgery!! I'm goi to continue to keep moving and sit up but sleeping has been a big help in healing for me. Good luck to all banders and to all this who have been sick too I hope today is your day!! Lb love J
