Starting to Exercise?
Janese58 replied to sarahsmiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"Everyones" body on the inside is the basically the same....no one is healed after only 2 weeks. There is a long staple line that needs to heal all the way before you start stretching and exerting it. I doubt any "surgeon" says otherwise. We most all feel great on the outside at 2 or 3 weeks, but regardless your inside staple line hasnt healed completely until about 6 weeks. -
Starting to Exercise?
Janese58 replied to sarahsmiles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my surgeron, and have read "walking' only for 6 weeks until completely healed inside. -
I too have chewed something and spit it out. Im never hungry but eat anyway because I have to. I have eaten bites of a cookie, an ice cream cone, a piece of chocolate, stuff like that. I dont eat but a bite or so then Im full anyway. I dont care I cant eat much. Eating at buffets and over eating at bbqs etc is what made me fat so Im glad I can only eat a bit at a time. Food hasnt done anything good for me so Im glad I cant eat but a little.

$51,746 Forest Park Hospital Bill for 2 nights stay and NO COMPLICATIONS
Janese58 replied to former_vbg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Health insurance is such a racket. I cant even start on it......I have Kaiser and pay $306. a month for it with a $3500.00 deductible. I pay $70. just to walk in my doctors office to say "I need a refill on my medicine". Then I pay $100.00 for my Wellburtin. I went to Mexico for my surgery I didnt even deal with Kaiser. UGH! -
Did any of you ever wonder...
Janese58 replied to mythreechildren2001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The thing is now....we cant really go eat a couple burgers and fries and then just give up on the "diet". Our little stomachs make it almost impossible to give up. -
2 weeks, 3 days out... can I drink yet?
Janese58 replied to gdc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once again....what a couple of clowns. I never thought for a minute a "she" wrote the original post. As for judging etc. someones morals, GDC "asked" for everyone's opinion by coming on here and annoucning his intentions. Who in their right mind gets this surgery to just turn around and start abusing it 2 weeks out? Give me a break......99% of the people on here are serious about losing weight and moving onto a healthier lifestyle. The other 1% are drinking and abusing alcohol 2 weeks out. -

Janese58 replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sure didnt have this surgery so that I could NEVER eat a piece of cake or a cookie.....I had this surgery so I dont eat half the cake and or 15 Oreos......no one got fat from eating 2 oreos or a slice of mousse. -
I did not reach my goal :(

Ok to start with quit whining. You weigh 143? You wanted to weigh 137 ...that is 6 pounds! Not 17! You are 6 pounds off AND you are admitting to eatting a bunch of crap. Put on your big girl panties, realize how far you have come and have a salad. -
Question for you all about complication
Janese58 replied to myrori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
are we talking a leak..8 months out or a lung collapsing because of your VSG? -
Will it ever be enough?
Janese58 replied to kellyw74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 53 yrs old. When I was 19 yrs old I weighed 102...I thought I was fat, really I did. I went into the Air Force they made me gain 8 pounds. I was devastated. At 21 I had my son and guess what...I didnt care that I weighed 200 pounds when I delivered him. I lost weight and gained weight over the years. I never really obsessed about it. I did the VSG to feel better...my parents and boyfriend were shocked that I even considered it because I never complained about being fat, they didnt think it even mattered to me. I just really started to feel sluggish and old being 230 at 53 yrs old. Now I tell women that I know....IF you wear a size 10 or smaller....YOU ARE NOT FAT! A size 10 is average, normal, healthly. Its a shame to not see ourselves for what we are. -

Really? -
Your stomach isnt completely healed for 6 weeks. Staying on full liquids or pureed/mushy foods is easier for your stomach while its repairing itself. Whether my doctor said I could eat chicken or steak or anything similar I wouldnt. I want my stomach to be comletely healed before it has to endure solid food. Its the same when some of the surgeons didnt required any diet head of time, but some gals knew it would be easier if their stomachs and bowels were empty at surgery time and dieted anyway. Dont get me wrong Im sick of blended soups and puddings too but I want to baby my stomach as long as it needs to heal completly. I feel 90% on the outside, but I know that is not true inside.

Tv? Adapters for Laptops?
Janese58 replied to Janese58's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The TV at Florence Health Oasis of Hope with Dr. Kelly gets ABC CBS and NBC, along with other stations. Same at the hotel. I brought my laptop and used it alot to take up time. You do sleep alot the second day and then you leave the morning of the next. I was bored stiff the first day because I got there at 9am and my surgery wasnt until 3:30pm. I had my IV in starting at about 10am. No water or ice chips all day. So I stayed on my laptop and chatted with my dad to pass the time. -
Stupid question I know but what sort of tv shows do they have there in TJ? I have a DVR at home but I was wondering if I will be able to catch a few shows like "Covert Affair"s on Tuesdays? Do I need an adapter for my laptop at the hotel or hospital? Im staying at the "Lucerna" and going to the Florence Health hospital. Anyone watch TV while there?

Level of discomfort first few weeks after surgery
Janese58 replied to welittle1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on July 26th and I felt pretty good the next day. I feel great today. Yesterday I went shopping in Palm Springs for 3 hours, in 112 degree heat. Besides alittle side ache at one point I felt great. My mom ended up carrying my purse by the 2 hour though. I am not tired or achy or anything. If I wasnt so restricted with the eating...I would feel preop normal. I return to work on Monday but I am a nanny so I have an ez job. Everyone is different though. -
Dr. Kelly post-op questions...
Janese58 replied to peppercma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked Dr Kelly about the omeprazol and he said to take it whether you have acid or not...he said its to protect your stomach. I didnt have any problems with my stomach so I was thinking I didnt have to take it. He said even so...take it. I have also been swallowing my other 2 meds since 3 days post op. Wellbutrin (cut in half) and Trazadone. -
When did your suregeon Allow you to start swallowing pills again?
Janese58 replied to Kristy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was taking pills 2 days after surgery, given to me by my surgeon. I was told I could start taking my own 2 Rx also. One of them I was told to cut in half the other was fine.
