    Be My Valentine Challenge

I'm at 230. I've lost 80 pounds!!! this blows my mind!!!!! Only 3 pounds to meet my goal for the month! Hopefully if I can get back to the gym... I need to get back to the gym. We've been struggling through illnesses at our house, and only having 1 vehicle and trying to juggle 3 jobs. It's been pretty stressful. Hoping to get back to the gym by Saturday! I miss it!!!!!!
  2. good luck! you have a great attitude! Keep it up!

    Weird Experience

No big gulps! just sips. I think were about the same. about 2 weeks ago, I got 1 cc which brought me to 9.5 in my 14cc band. I'm having to really focus on eating slowly, chewing a lot, and drinking slowly. Everything is different with this fill! restriction is amazing, but it truly is a re-learning process.

Heart Attack Grill - 6000 Calorie Burger!

just gross! even at my heaviest, i wouln't have eaten that! But PWoo10, I have to agree with you, It makes you wonder what you're putting in your mouth!
  5. my favorite way to approach this issue is this: we have seen ourselves as obese for how many years? mine is a lifetime! When we had surgery, it was a rebirth of sorts. So that puts us into infancy. It's like your 19 months old, and you have a lot to learn. You're still in your infancy regarding your weight loss journey. keep working at your self image, and congratulations on your tremendous weight loss!

    Be My Valentine Challenge

down 3 pounds! woohoo, half way to my goal for February! As far as my bad habit goes, I still tend to order a whole meal at a restaurant instead of just sharing. I still think I can eat it all! AND.. I need to stop thinking that I need to eat, just because it's the time of day!

    Hoping For A Fill

That makes no sense to me. The band is supposed to help you lose weight, not gain it! Maybe you can ask your doc his logic behind his decision. Don't be afraid to ask questions!

    Should I Or Shouldnt I ?? Help

My insurance process was easier with a "center of excellence". Its a process the hospital has to go through. It means that they cater to large people. They will tell you if they are a center or not. You'll most likely have to talk to your pcp anyway, so you might talk to him/her first.

    Should I Or Shouldnt I ?? Help

I have to agree with Joyce! VIsit around this forum, I think you'll get a good idea( no pun intended) of what people think of thier bands. I personally love my band! I love the adjustibility and the control that I have. I love that I know that the weight that I have lost will never come back again. it's gone permanently. I believe you have to do a lot of research to figure out if its the right thing for you. If your clinic offers informational sessions, go. If you can get to talk to some bandsters, do it. You'll know if its right for you after you do some research. Good luch on your journey.

    I Really Need Another Fill

I would call right away! don't wait for that appointment. This is your band, and you are in control. the last thing you need to feel is out of control. I am telling you this from personal experience. I was in the same boat. I gained 2 pounds, realized I was eating and eating way too much, so I called and got an appointment immediately. I was practically in tears at my doctors office, he gave me 1cc, and I feel sooooo much better now! If you can get a sooner appointment, do it!

    2012 Auld Lang Syne Challenge

so I've been doing the challenges since October, and unfortunatly missed this one! I've had a lot going on with changing jobs and everything, so I didn't end up logging on. But I'm back, and I'm down 71 pounds so far! Now that the stress is gone, and I joined a gym, I'm back to losing again! I'm so excited, I was so sick of that plateau!! Just wanted to update you all, and i'll be back next month!

    Rockin My Band

the hospital where my doctors office is asked me to speak at there first patient run Support Group forum. There are 3 patients from each type of surgery and I get to be there to represent! YAY! I am so excited! I havent been around in a while, I've kinda been out living my life! I joined a gym (not a new years resolution!) and I've actually been going! I finally kicked through my plateau and next month I'll be back on the weight loss challenges.

    The Holiday Challenge

I maintained yet again. This is getting rather frustating! I did join a gym this week and havd been there several times and have a personal trainer so hopefully this will kick it into gear
  21. Those meds don't always work though! I get sick through them, so beware! Always tell you anesthesiologist before hand, Also, if you are feeling nauseous after have the nurses wave some alcohol under your nose and use some oxygen. That makes it go away too!

    Sous Vide Cooking

bands are finicky creatures. What works for one, may not work for another. I can eat eggs, many cannot. I cant eat chicken, some can. I can still tolerate breads, most cannot. (I choose to not eat them)
  23. I have no need to be "ultra skinny" as you say. I have high expectations for myself, and I don' t belive that's bad. Is it horrible to use whatever motivation you can? I am not rushing this, I am taking slow, I am celebrating every pound and every nsv. HOWEVER, the band does work, and I needed to make this doctor see that. He speaks very poorly about the band, even to prospective patients. I went into my consult with him telling him I wanted the band, and all he told me about was the RNY, which I knew I didn't want! When I reiterated I wanted the band, he told me I would be very unhappy. Eventually, he believed in me enough to do the surgery, and I was going to prove to him that band patients can be successful. Why is that bad? I am healthy, and believe it or not, ALL of my bloodwork was normal, no sleep apnea, no diabetes, no cardiac issues BEFORE surgery. I am out to stay healthy. I want to keep it that way!

Has Anyone Else Experienced This? Is This Normal?

It must have been something about yesterday, because that is EXACTLY what happened to me yesterday, and today, I'm really tight. I think its because our stomachs must be a bit swollen. I'm taking it real light today. soft foods and liquids only.
  25. Same motivator for me! I was told I would only lose about 50 pounds! Ha, I'm already down 67 pounds! I have smashed his goal for me. I used my anger at him as motivation to prove him wrong. AT my last fill he told me he was proud of me and gave me a hug! He said I was in the top 40% of bandsters who lose successfully. I don't consider still being morbidly obese as successful though, and I am no where near done. I plan to be at 100 pounds lost by April. I have also been asked to speak on a panel at the hospital. And because of a fellow bandster and myself, the clinic is starting to increase there support for us, because it is nill. Transform yourself! Prove your surgeon wrong, because he is and they need to learn that the band does work!
